Objective To investigate the effects of Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang on serum contents of microelements sunch as Zn,Cu,Fe,Se and Mn in spontaneously hypertensive rats-stroke prone(SHR/SP). Methods Twenty male SHR/SP of 8 weeks old were divided into two groups: treatment group(n=10),treatmemt with Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang;control group, taking normal feed.Ten WKY rats were served as blank group. The experiment lasted for three months, and the monitored parameters were serum contents of microelements such as Zn,Cu,Fe,Se and Mn. Results It was revealed that the serum contents of Zn,Mn and Se of the blank group were significantly higher than those of the treatment group(P0.05). Conclusion Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang may have regulatory effects on the serum contents of microelements such as Zn,Cu,Fe,Se and Mn in SHR/SP.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of astragalin on pulmonary edema after acute cervical spinal cord injury in rats.MethodsA total of 200 adult Wistar rats weighing 240-250 g were randomly divided into five groups:astragalin group, low concentration astragalin group, physiological saline group, blank group and sham group, with 40 rats in each group. The rats with cervical spinal cord injury were induced at C7 by modified Allen' s method, with the dropping weight of 10 × 2.5 g · cm.In the sham group, the laminas were removed only, leaving spinal cord at the C7 intact. Each group was further divided into four time points:24 hours,3 days,1 week and 2 weeks after the modeling, with 10 rats in each time point, according to the specimen collection time.Rats were sacrificed at different time points to observe the pathological change of the lung tissue using optical microscope, measure the lung wet/dry weight ratio (W/D) and protein concentrations of the serum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and calculate the lung W/D and lung permeability index (LPI).ResultsAt the same instant, the W/D and LPI in the astragalin group and low concentration astragalin group were lower than those in physiological saline group and blank group, with the lowest value in the astragalin group at day 3 after injury ( P <0.05 ).ConclusionsRats with acute cervical spinal cord injury may cause pulmonary edema, which can be efficiently alleviated through early use of astragalin.

Objective To investigate the effect of baicalain on high expression of ECM and TGF-?1 in proximal tubular epithelial cells cultured in high glucose concentration. Methods LLC-PK1 cells were divided into six groups: (1)normal glucose group(NG, 5. 5 mmol/L D-glucose), (2)high glucose group(HG, 25 mmol/L D-glucose), (3) HG + PKC inhibitor(10?mol/L chelerythrine chloride), (4)HG + baicalein(50 ?mol/L), (5) HG + baicalein(100 ?mol/L), (6) HG + baicalein (200 ?mol/L) . PKC activity was detected. Expression of ColⅣ, FN and TGF-?1 was examined by in situ hybridization and immunocytochemistry(ABC) techniques. Results At concentrations of 100 ?mol/L and 200 ?mol/L, baicalein decreased membranous PKC activity in LLC-PK1 cells by 42% and 68% , respectively ( P

International Eye Science 2015;(4):681-683
AIM: To investigate the preoperative binocular visual function of intermittent exotropia and the rebuilding and recovery of the postoperative binocular visual function, and analyze the effect of binocular visual function on orthophoria after surgery.
METHODS:From January 2011 to January 2014, 47 basic intermittent exotropia patients caming for treatment were collected in the clinical data. The changes in their near stereopsis, binocular visual function, binocular fusion and distance stereopsis after operations were recorded in the form of data. The preoperative binocular vision and the postoperative rebuilding were analyzed and contrasted with each other. In addition, the effect on the postoperative maintaining of orthophoria due to the existence, recovery and rebuilding of binocular visual function were observed.
RESULTS:Intermittent exotropia patients got damage in different levels on their binocular visual functions, especially on distance stereopsis, which was the heaviest and earliest. After the operation, all functions were obviously recovered and reconstructed and the improvements were statistically significant compared against those before the operation (P<0. 01). Patients having binocular visual function or part of it before the operation had a higher ratio of orthophoria compared against the patients who had lost binocular visual function before the operation and the difference was statistically significant (P<0. 01). The recovery and reconstruction of the postoperative binocular visual function played an important role in maintaining the orthophoria.
CONCLUSION: The intermittent exotropia cause damage to the stereopsis which happened the earliest. Obvious recovery and reconstruction of binocular visual function can be observed after the surgery. A relatively good preoperative binocular visual function may lead to the increase in the ratio of orthophoria or cure the intermittent exotropia. Performing an operation when distance stereopsis is damaged can increase the success rate for the surgery and reduce the recurrence rate.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting YAP on the proliferation and apoptosis of human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs).
METHODSSynthesized sequences of siRNA were transfected into hPDLSCs by Lipofectamine™ 2000. The expression of YAP was identified by using real-time quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blot analysis. Proliferation activity was detected by using cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8). Changes in the cell cycle and apoptosis rate were detected by using flow cytometry. Results were analyzed by using SPSS 19.0, and P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.
RESULTSExpression of YAP mRNA and protein were significantly downregulated after 48 h of transfection (P < 0.001). No obvious difference was found in the expression levels of YAP protein between 48 and 72 h, thus indicating that siRNA could inhibit the expression of YAP persistently and effectively. Proliferation activity was inhibited, and apoptosis rate was increased. Cell cycle was changed as the proportion of G₁and S phases increased (P < 0.01) and G₂ phase decreased (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONKnocking down YAP gene by siRNA could inhibit proliferation activity, induce apoptosis, and change the cell cycle of hPDLSCs. Thus, YAP could regulate the proliferation and apoptosis of hPDLSCs.

Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2001;22(5):443-446
Objective: To investigate the effect of human vascular endothelial growth factor on restenosis after angioplasty. Methods: A rabbit model of injured carotid artery was established using percutaneous transluminal angioplasty. The pcDNA3/hVEGF165(500 μg,n=12) and pcDNA3 (500 μg,n=12) were separately transfected into injured arterial wall with 30 min incubation. The carotid artery was imaged by arotic angiography at the end of week 2 and week 4. Pathology analysis and Northern blot analysis were performed for harvested injured artery segment. Results: Arotic angiography showed carotid artery diameter narrowness were obviously lessened at week 2 and week 4 in experimental group than that in control group; H-E stains showed lumina narrow ratio were obviously reduced at week 2 and week 4 in experimental group than that in control group[(9.58±1.35)% vs (31.72±1.72)%;(18.09±2.93)% vs (44.05±3.28)%, P<0.01 ]; By Northern blot analysis, the expression of hVEGF165mRNA in experimental group were upregulated than in contol group. Conclusion: pcDNA3/hVEGF165 can be transfected into smooth muscle cell and continue to secret bioactivity protein at least for 4 weeks; it can accelerate reendothelialization and prevent restenosis.
