OBJECTIVE: To analyze suicide scene, damage morphology and case investigation of mountain type scenic spot for giving the references to determine the nature of cliff suicide cases. METHODS: The suicide cases collected from 2002 to 2012 in scenic spot of Mount Huangshan. The age, gender, native place, case location, damage inspection and behavior were analyzed. RESULTS: In the 52 suicide cases, the suicide rate of male was higher than that of female. The numbers from other provinces were higher than that of local province. The age was mainly range from 19 to 50. The time of suicide cases mostly happened between 16:00 to 24:00. The major damage was compound injury with varying degrees of traumatic brain injury, organic injury of pleuroperitoneal cavity and surface bruise and scratch. CONCLUSION In order to determine the nature of cliff suicide cases, it needs to work synthetically in the investigation of crime scene and interview.

Objective To provide a clinical anatomic basis for the bi-pedicled gastrocnemius myocuta- neous flap which is to be used to repair defects of the Achilles tendon and posterior skin of the ankle.Methods In anatomic study,out of 30 cadaver specimens,bi-pedicled V-Y gastrocnemius myoeutaneous flaps were harvested to measure the downward sliding lengths of the flap when the knee was at flexion of different degrees.In clinic,12 patients with the Achilles tendon and posterior ankle skin defects were repaired with the bi-pedicled gastrocnemius myocutaneous flaps.The areas of composite defects ranged from 10 cm?6 cm to 6 cm?4 cm.They were followed up for four months to 12 years.Results The maximal sliding length of the flap reached (9.2?0.9)cm when the knee was at flexion of 90?.All the clinical flaps survived and ambulation of the patients recovered.The dorsiflexion and plantarflexion of the ankles reached 11.0??1.4?and 35.0??4.6?respectively.Conclusion This flap is suitable for one-stage repair of composite Achilles tendon defects.

Objective To investigate the changes in cortisol (COR) secretion in the acute phase of traumatic brain injury (TBI) .Method Seventy-five patients admitted to the hospital at 2-24 h after TBI were divided into 3 groups based on the Glasgow Coma Scale score: mild TBI group (group TBI1, n = 30), moderate TBI group (group TBI2, n = 12) and severe TBI group (TBI3, n = 33). Thirteen patients with cervical spondylosis or osteoma of the skull (admitted to the hospital at the same period) were regarded as control group (group C). Venous blood samples were taken on the first day after admission to measure the serum concentrations of total COR, adrenocorticotropin (ACTH) and corticosteroid-binding globulin (CBG). Free COR concentrations and free COR index were calculated. High blood COR was recorded. Result Compared with group C, the serum concentrations of total COR and ACTH, free COR levels and free COR index were significantly increased in TBI1, TBI2 and TBI3groups (P ＜ 0.05). The parameters mentioned above were significantly higher in TBI2 and TBI3 groups than in TBI1 group ( P ＜0.05). There was no significant difference in serum CBG concentrations among the four groups.The incidence of high blood COR was significantly higher in TBI1, TBI2 and TBI3 groups than in C group, and in TBI3 group thanin TBI1 and TBI2 groups (P ＜0.05). Conclusion COR secretion is increased in the acute phase of TBI and the level of COR secretion is related to the severity of brain damage.

Objective To investigate the effect of herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase/ganciclovir (HSV-TK/GGV)system driven by human alpha fetoprotein(AFP)enhancer on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)cells in vitro and in vivo.Methods HCC-specific eukarotypic expression vector carrying suicide gene driven by AFP enhancer(pAFP-cDNA3.1-TK)was constructed.The plasmid was trasfected to AFP-positive HepG2 cells and AFP-negative SMMC7721 cells by liposomes.Protein and mRNA expressions of TK were detected by RT-PCR or Western blot.The survival rates of HCC cells were detected by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium assay.The effects of GGV on the in vitro proliferation,survival and apoptosis of HCC cells were observed,and the inhibitive effect of GGV on the survival of HCC cells in vivo was also detected.All data were analyzed by using the t test.Results The pAFP-cDNA3.1-TK was successfully constructed and transfected to the HCC cells.The protein and mRNA expressions of TK were detected in AFP-positive HepG2 cells.GGV dose-and time-dependently inhibited the growth and induced the apoptosis of HepG2 cells in vitro,but it had no effect on SMMC7721 cells.No protein or mRNA expression of TK was detected in the SMMC7721 cells.There was a significant difference on the inhibitory effects of GGV on HepG2 cells and SMMC7721 cells(t =2.58,2.73,3.12,P ＜0.05).GGV specifically inhibited the growth of AFP-positive HepG2 cells,and the inhibition rate was 46%;the growth of AFP-negative SMMC7721 cells was not influenced by GGV.There was a significant difference in the inhibitive effect of GGV on the growth of HepG2 cells and SMMC7721 cells(t = 3.36,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion HSV-TK/GGV systemdriven by human APF enhancer kills APF-positive HCC cells and inhibits the growth of HCC cells.

Objective To investigate the possible role of high mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1) and its advanced gly‐cation end products receptor (RAGE) in the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) .Methods The enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to determine the level of plasma HMGB1 in 52 cases of SLE (SLE group) and 40 healthy females undergoing physical examination (HC group) ,at the same time real time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT‐qPCR) was employed to detect the expression of HMGB1 and RAGE mRNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) .The correlation between plasma HMGB1 ,PBMCs HMGB1 and RAGE mRNA levels with clinical indicators was analyzed .Results The levels of plasma HMGB1 ,PBMCs HMGB1 mRNA in the SLE group were significantly higher than those in the HC group ,the differences were statistically significant (P< 0 .05) ,while the level of PBMCs RAGE mRNA had no statistical difference (P>0 .05);the Spearman correlation analysis showed that the level of plasma HMGB1 was positively correlated with antinuclear anti‐bodies titers and SLEDAI score in the SLE patients (P<0 .01) ,while had no obvious correlation with the other clinical and labora‐tory indicators(P>0 .05);the HMGB1 mRNA expression level was positively correlated with the RAGE mRNA expression level and SLEDAI scores(P<0 .01 ,P<0 .05) ,and had no obvious correlation with other clinical and laboratory indicators (P>0 .05) . Conclusion The abnormal expression of plasma HMGB1 and PBMCs HMGB1 mRNA in SLE patients prompts that which might be involved in the occurrence and development of SLE ,might participate in the immune and inflammatory regulation of SLE .
