Microbiology 2008;0(10):-
Psychrotrophs were isolated by using four media from low-temperature sewage of sewage treatment plant in Urumqi, Xinjiang. Totally, 154 strains were obtained including 12 filamentous fungi, 46 yeasts, 6 actinomycetes and 90 bacteria. The results of tolerance tests of the isolates to salt, phenol and SDS, and enzyme producing characters of amylase, proteinase and esterase were shown. Then 60 bacterial strains were chosen for 16S rRNA gene sequencing and analysis. The blasting results showed that the strains were assigned to 13 recognized genera , and the Strain 39 exhibited 96.6% similarity to Acinetobacter lwoffii(DSM2403), indicating that it might be a novel species. These results suggested that there were a lot of psychrotrophs and rich bacterial diversity in low-temperature sewage. In addition, which maybe an important and potential library of microbial resources.

Objective To investigate the expression alteration and significance of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA)by GWAS(Genome-wide association study)between Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)and its adjacent normal esophageal tissues. Methods lncRNA and mRNA differential expression in 6 pairs of ESCC and matched non-cancerous tissues were screened by microarray assay. The target genes were predicted. Finally , GO(Gene Ontology)and Pathway analysis was used for the further research of lncRNA. Results A total of 680 lncRNA and 1472mRNA were differentially expressed at more than two-fold change(P ≤ 0.05,with 161lncRNA and 653mRNA up-regulated,519lncRNA and 819mRNA down-regulated between ESCC and its adjacent normal esophageal tissues. Gene ontology and pathway analysis results suggested that the differentially expressed genes were involved in 11 pathways.Theyare potentially associated with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma ,including post-translational protein modification ,mucin type O-Glycan biosynthesis and sphingolipid metabolism pathways , which mainly related to the changes of molecular function ,cellular components and biological processes. Through cis and trans analysis,a total of 15 differentially expressed lncRNA had cis-and/or trans-regulated target genes in the database, with 13 lncRNA had cis-regulated target genes,3 lncRNA had trans-regulated target genes, and 1 lncRNA had both cis- and trans-regulated target genes. Conclusion Compared with adjacent normal tissues ,a large number of lncRNA were expressed differentially in ESCC in Xinjiang Han people.Aberrantly expressed lncRNA may play important roles in ESCC development and progression through some signaling pathways ,which are of great significance for further search of new targets for the diagnosis and treatment of ESCC.

Objective To compare the myocardial protective effects of isoflurane versus sevoflurane in patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG). Methods Forty ASA Ⅱ or Ⅲ patients (NYHA Ⅱ or Ⅲ ) of both sexes, aged 40-55 yr, weighing 55-94 kg, scheduled for elective OPCABG, were randomly divided into 2 groups ( n = 20 each): isoflurane group ( group Ⅰ) and sevoflurane group ( group S). Anesthesia was induced with midazolam, sufentanil and vecuronium. Patients were tracheal intubated and mechanically ventilated. Anesthesia was maintained with inhalation of isoflurane or sevoflurane and infusion of sufentanil and vecuronium. In group Ⅰ, the initial end-tidal concentration of isoflurane was 1.2%. In group S, the initial end-tidal concentration of sevoflurane was 1.7 %. BIS value was maintained at 40-50 by adjusting the end-tidal concentration of isoflurane or sevoflurane. The central venous blood samples were collected immediately before skin incision, at the end of surgery, 2 and 24 h after surgery for determination of plasma creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) activity and cardiac troponin Ⅰ (cTnI) concentration. The adverse cardiovascular events were recorded. Results The incidences of ventricular premature beat, tachycardia, bradycardia, ventricular fibrillation and S-T segment elevation ( >0.1 mV) during surgery and the plasma CK-MB activity and cTnI concentration after surgery were significantly higher in group S than in group Ⅰ ( P < 0.05). Conclusion Isoflurane has better myocardial protective effect than sevoflurane in patients undergoing OPCABG.

Journal of Geriatric Cardiology 2009;6(3):131-136
Objective There is little population-based data on the prevalence and the environmental or genetic determinants of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in China. The purpose of this paper is to study LVH in relation to systolic blood pressure and the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) insertion/deletion(I/D) polymorphism in Chinese. Methods We recorded 12-lead ECG (CardioSoft, v4.2) in 1365 residents in the Jingning County, Zhejiang Province, China. LVH was defined according to the gender-specific Sokolow-Lyon and Comell product ECG criteria. Results Regardless of whether the Sokolow-Lyon or Comell product ECG criteria was used, the prevalence of LVH (20.7% and 4.8%, respectively) significantly (P<0.0001) increased with male gender (odds ratio [OR] 2.33 and 7.15) and systolic blood pressure (per 10 mm Hg increase, OR 1.46 and 1.33). If the Sokolow-Lyon criteria was used, the prevalence of LVH was also influenced by alcohol intake (OR 1.44, P=0.03) and body mass index (OR 0.83, P=0.0005). The association between the Sokolow-Lyon voltage amplitude and the ACE I/D polymorphism was dependent on antihypertensive therapy (P=0.01). In 1262 untreated subjects, but not 103 patients on antihypertensive medication, the ACE DD compared with Ⅱ subjects had significantly higher Sokolow-Lyon voltage amplitudes (29.8±0.6 vs. 28.0±20.5 mV, P=0.02) and higher risk of LVH (OR 1.74, 95% CI: 1. 12-2.69, P=0.01). Conclusion LVH is prevalent in Chinese, and is associated with systolic blood pressure and the ACE D allele. The genetic association might be modulated by antihypertensive therapy.
