Objective: To study the effect of the sharp marginal ridge of the abutment on the casting of the fit metal full crown in dental preparation.Methods: We established the models of the designed crown-based-teeth(American Dental Association style,No2 trail) with a sharp or smooth marginal ridge,and cast a metal crown for each model.We injected silicone into the crown and immediately fixed it onto each model.Then we took out the solidified silicone and measured its thickness between the crown and the occlusal face of each model.The thinner the thickness,the better the fitness.Results: The average silicone thickness was 250 ?m in the smooth marginal ridge group and 1 660 ?m in the sharp marginal ridge group,with significant difference in between(P

AIM: To observe the alteration of urotensin II (UII) receptors and contractile response to UII in rat aorta after balloon angioplasty injury. METHODS: The plasma membrane isolated from balloon injured aorta was used to study the binding of [ 125 I]-UII to the membrane and the contractile potency of UII on rat aorta was assayed. Objective:To study the enhancing effect of bFGF-targeted antisense phosphorothioate oligonucleotide (APO)on the chemosensitivity of human laryngeal squamous carcinoma cell line Hep2 to Doxorubicin,5-Fluorouracil, and Cisplatin.Methods:bFGF-specific APO was designed,constructed and transfected into Hep2 cells with jetPEI (polyethyleneimine).Expression of bFGF mRNA was evaluated by semi-quantitative RT-PCR after transfection;immuno- cytochemical method was used to examine the expression of bEGF expression before and after transfection of Hep2;the in- duction of cell apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometry;cell proliferation was then analYzed by MTT assay after treatment with bFGF-specific APO or chemotherapeutic drugs,or a combination of both.Results:bFGF-specific APO inhibited the growth of Hep2 cells in a dose-and time-dependent manner,with the peak inhibitory rate being 25.5%.The expression of bFGF mRNA and protein decreased by 52.0% and 41.1%,respectively.The apoptosis rate of Hep2 cells was 20.5% after transfection,bFGF-specifie APO reduced the 50% inhibitory concentration of Doxorubicin,5-Fluorouracil,and Cis- platin in Hep2 cells by 75.5%,83.5% and 65.4%,respectively.Conclusion:bFGF-specific APO can enhance the chemosensitivity of Hep2 cells,which paves a new way for potential biologic chemotherapy of laryngeal squamous carcino- ma.

Objective To explore the risk factors for early interhepatic recurrence and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)on CT imaging before treatment.Methods 1 1 5 patients suffered from HCC from July 2003 to January 2009 were retrospec-tively enrolled for reviewing their clinical characteristics and CT signs.The status of metastasis and/or recurrence was followed reg-ularly.Signs on pre-treatment enhanced CT images were measured and analyzed.Analysis of variance and independent sampler t test were applied for Univariate survival analysis.Then multivariate analysis was carried out by the Logistic regression,Lon rank meth-od,and p-value < 0.05 was defined to be statistically significant.Results The early interhepatic recurrence and metastasis rate of the study group was 58.26%.With univariate analysis,tumor size,location,extent,capsule,satellite nodule,vascular invasion, AVM and necrosis were the risk factors for early recurrence and metastasis of HCC on pre-treatment enhanced CT imaging (P<0.05).Multi-variable Logistic regression analysis showed that tumor size,satellite nodule,vascular invasion capsule and were independently sig-nificant CT signs for early interhepatic recurrence and metastasis of HCC (P =0.031,0.005、0.037、0.048).Conclusion Pre-treat-ment enhanced CT imaging with HCC was closely related to early interhepatic recurrence and metastasis of the tumor.A tumor of larger size,with satellite nodules,without complete capsule and vascular invasion on CT may predict a tendency to early interhepatic recurrence and metastasis of HCC.
