1.Sequential changes of HIF-1αprotein and mRNA in hypoxic bovine retinal microvessel endothelial cells
International Eye Science 2005;5(2):225-228
● AIM: To investigate the sequential changes of HIF-1 α Protein and mRNA in hypoxic bovine retinal microvessel endothelial cells.● METHODS: The bovine retinal microvessel endothelial cells were cultured in normoxic and CoCl2-induced hypoxic conditions respectively. Expressions of HIF-1 α Protein were measured with immunohistochemical staining, and RT-PCR was used to determine the HIF-1 α mRNA.● RESULTS: HIF-1 α began to increase 1h after hypoxia, and reached the peak at 4h. After 16h, it declined significantly. Compared with the normoxic group, the expression of HIF-1 α protein in the hypoxic groups had significant difference (P<0.01), and HIF-1 α mRNA expression was unchanged under hypoxia.● CONCLUSION: HIF-1 α participates in the hypoxic procedures in retinal microvessel endothelial cells, and hypoxia induce time-dependent changes of HIF-1 α protein expression, which is not modulated on the transcription level. Analysis of HIF-1 α expression revealed a temporal and spatial changes with regard to the hyperoxic repression, indicating that HIF-1 may play a major role in the development of retinopathy of prematurity and other ischemic retinal disorders such as diabetic retinopathy.

Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2011;34(23):21-23
Objective To investigate the causes and managements of capsular perforation in transurethral resection of prostate(TURP) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods Clinical data of 893 cases who received TURP from February 2002 to February 2011 were analyzed retrospectively. Results In 893 cases, capsular perforation in 16 cases, among them, tissue covered perforation in 10 cases, dissociative perforation in 3 cases, perforation under bladder trignne in 3 cases. Six cases occurred with obviously extravasation, 10 cases with transurethral resection syndrome (TURS) or omen of TURS. Two cases were ceased operation and received TURP again after 2 weeks, 2 cases transferred to open surgery suprapubic prostatectomy, 12 cases kept up operation with lower bladder douche pressure. Two cases with postoperatire bleeding underwent open surgery hemostasis cured. All cases were discharged from hospital after recovery. Conclusions The type and extent of capsule perforation must be judged correctly, corresponding treatment must be given, prevention and treatment of TURS must be taken notice of, if capsule perforation occurs when TURP operation in progress. Less haematoma, clearview and normal anatomic structures can decrease the incidence of perforation.

Objective To observe and compare the clinical effect of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)combined with transurethral resection of prostate(TURP) and simple TURP in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods 60 patients with BPH were randomly divided into two groups. The treatment group(n=30) was given the TCM combined TURP and the control group(n = 30) was given TURP alone. The effects were observed. Results Improvement of lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS), the international prostate symptom score (I-PSS) of the treatment group was better than that of the control group with significant difference (P < 0.01). The time and quantity of bladder irrigation, incidence of bladder spasm, incidence of constipation after operation of the treatment group were less than that of the control group with significant difference(all P <0.05). Catheter retention time, postoperative bleeding, urinary retention were less and had no significant difference between the two groups (all P >0. 05). Conclusion The effect of TCM combined with TURP was significantly superior to that of simple TURP; and adverse reaction after treatment was less than that in the control group.

5.Role of rotenone in mitochondrial oxidative damage and the underlying mechanisms.
Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2014;39(10):1093-1099
Rotenone is one of the typical inhibitors of the complex I on the mitochondrial respiratory chain. Numerous studies showed when applied to live animals or cells, rotenone could lead to mitochondrial dysfunction, ROS augment, and thus oxidative damage to proteins, lipids and nucleic acids. Through exploring the process of ROS generation in mitochondria, the relationship between rotenone and mitochondrial ROS generation and the role of rotenone in DNA damage, we elucidated the mechanisms of rotenone induced-mitochondrial oxidative damage. At the same time, we attempted to explore the mtDNA damage and the mutation induced by rotenone.

Objective:To study the enhancing effect of bFGF-targeted antisense phosphorothioate oligonucleotide (APO)on the chemosensitivity of human laryngeal squamous carcinoma cell line Hep2 to Doxorubicin,5-Fluorouracil, and Cisplatin.Methods:bFGF-specific APO was designed, constructed and transfected into Hep2 cells with jetPEI (polyethyleneimine).Expression of bFGF mRNA was evaluated by semi-quantitative RT-PCR after transfection;immuno- cytochemical method was used to examine the expression of bEGF expression before and after transfection of Hep2;the in- duction of cell apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometry;cell proliferation was then analYzed by MTT assay after treatment with bFGF-specific APO or chemotherapeutic drugs,or a combination of both.Results:bFGF-specific APO inhibited the growth of Hep2 cells in a dose-and time-dependent manner, with the peak inhibitory rate being 25.5%.The expression of bFGF mRNA and protein decreased by 52.0% and 41.1%,respectively.The apoptosis rate of Hep2 cells was 20.5% after transfection,bFGF-specifie APO reduced the 50% inhibitory concentration of Doxorubicin,5-Fluorouracil,and Cis- platin in Hep2 cells by 75.5%,83.5% and 65.4%,respectively.Conclusion:bFGF-specific APO can enhance the chemosensitivity of Hep2 cells, which paves a new way for potential biologic chemotherapy of laryngeal squamous carcino- ma.

China Biotechnology 2006;0(08):-
The production technology for the first generation of biofuels has been made great achievements and some countries, such as USA, EU countries, and Brazil, have formed successful biofuel industrial chains. Cellulose ethanol, a representative of the second generation of biofuels and a kind of more promising alternative fuels, has not yet got enough key technological breakthroughs and its large scale commercial production still needs rather some time to realize. Now it is in the early stage of transition to the second generation of biofuels. Taking the development of second generation of biofuels as their national policies, many countries have developed long-term development plans and objectives, and provided a good policy environment and strong support for it. Thus institutes and enterprises are engaging and successing in addressing key issues relating to the development of biofuels. At the mean time, some important issues relating to the sustainable development of biofuels have attracted people's attention.
