Teaching and research are two major functions of university. We should correct the misunderstanding of the relationship between teaching and research and improve the evaluation of integration of them. Positive interaction of research and teaching can enhance educational results of university. We should conduct the interaction of scientific research and teaching,improving the creative ability of students.

Objective To evaluate the clinical outcome of reconstruction of the superior peroneal retinaculum (SPR) by using a portion of Achilles’s tendon and suture anchors in the treatment of chronic peroneal tendon dislocation .Methods Seven patients in our hospital from January 2010 to January 2015 who underwent surgical reconstruction of SPR by using a portion of Achilles ’ s tendon and suture anchors were evaluated .The ankle ’ s range of motion ( ROM) and The American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society ( AOFAS) ankle-hindfoot score were used to evaluate the clinical outcome .Results All 7 cases were followed up for 6 to 24 months,the average time was 14 months,with-out recurrence.The ankle’s ROM improved from (23.6 ±1.9) °preoperative to (30.0 ±1.5) °at the final follow-up,and the AOFAS An-kle Hindfoot Scale improved from (60.6 ±3.6) point preoperative to (93.6 ±3.9) point at the final follow-up.Conclusion Surgical re-construction of SPR by using a portion of Achilles ’ s tendon and suture anchors may be an effective alternative surgical method for chronic peroneal tendon dislocation .

BACKGROUND: At present, osteoarthritis of knee is mainly treated with non-steroid drug in medication, but resulting in the side effects on gastrointestinal tract. The research indicates that bushen yiqi huoxue formula, with litter side effect, improves remarkably pain and motor function of patients with osteoarthritis of knee.OBJECTIVE: To probe into the effect of bushen yiqi huoxue formula on pathological process of the cartilage of knee joint by setting up ostoarthritis of knee in rabbt.DESIGN: Randomized controlled study by observation in which the experimental animals were taken as the objects.SETTING: Animal experimental center of a university.MATERIALS: Totally 36 New Zealand normal male rabbits, weighted varied from 2.0 to 3.0 kg.METHODS: The experiment was performed in Animal Experimental Center of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from January 2002 to January 2003. Thirty-six New Zealand rabbits were involved to set up Hulth knee osteoarthritis model. After operation, they were randomized into 3 groups,named as model group, acetaminophen group and bushen yiqi huoxue formula group (formula group). Adopted corresponding managements in each group,the materials were collected at the 4th, 8th and 12th week after operation for histological pathological assess.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Primary results: integrals of pathological changes in cartilage of joint in every group. Secondary results: ①Naked-eye observation of cartilage of joint in every group. ② Optic microscopic observation of cartilage of joint in every group.RESULTS: The total integrals of pathological changes in cartilage of joint in model group, acetaminophen group and bushen yiqi huoxue formula grcup (formula group) at the 4th week were 18.50±1.00, 14.25±1.26,11.75±2.22 respectively, and 30.75±1.26, 22.00±3.16, 17.75±2. 21 at the 12th week respectively. The total integrals of pathological changes in cartilage of joint, in chondrocyte and in cartilage surface layer are in the sequence of model group ＞ acetaminophen group ＞ formula group successively. The significant or very significant differences present in the comparisons between groups.CONCLUSION: Bushen yiqi huoxue formula delays pathological progression of osteoarthritis of knee so that it can treat and prevent the disease.

Objective: To study the effect of the sharp marginal ridge of the abutment on the casting of the fit metal full crown in dental preparation.Methods: We established the models of the designed crown-based-teeth(American Dental Association style,No2 trail) with a sharp or smooth marginal ridge,and cast a metal crown for each model.We injected silicone into the crown and immediately fixed it onto each model.Then we took out the solidified silicone and measured its thickness between the crown and the occlusal face of each model.The thinner the thickness,the better the fitness.Results: The average silicone thickness was 250 ?m in the smooth marginal ridge group and 1 660 ?m in the sharp marginal ridge group,with significant difference in between(P

BACKGROUND:There is little evidence on the use of al ogeneic tendon graft in the reconstruction of ankle joint.
OBJECTIVE:To explore the clinical outcome of anatomical reconstruction of the lateral ligaments with cryopreserved al ogeneic tendon graft in patients with chronic ankle instability.
METHODS:Twenty-six patients with chronic lateral instability underwent anatomical reconstruction of the lateral ligaments with cryopreserved al ogeneic tendon. There were 18 cases of simultaneous injury or chalasia in calcaneofibular ligament and anterior talofibular ligament, and 8 cases of anterior talofibular ligament injury or chalasia. The ankle joint function was evaluated according to AOFAS scale and Good classification. The affect ankle and healthy ankle were compared in the extension, plantar flexion activity, and metaleg activity.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Al the 26 patients were fol owed up for 9-24 months with a mean of 15 months. No cases appeared recurrent ankle lateral instability. The mean AOFAS score in the group of calcaneofibular ligament and anterior talofibular ligament was improved from (48.4±3.7) points preoperatively to (88.2±3.8) postoperatively, while that in the group of anterior talofibular ligament was improved from (50.0±6.4) points preoperatively to (89.5±3.4) points postoperatively. According to Good score, there were excellent in 19 feet, good in 6 feet, fair in 1 foot, with an excellent and good rate up to 96%. No serious complication was occurred in this group. Anatomical reconstruction of the lateral ligaments with cryopreserved al ogeneic tendon graft can increase the tendon-bone contact area, improve the rate of tendon healing, and enhance the stability of ankle joint in patients with chronic ankle instability. Further studies are needed to verify its long-term efficacy.

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of serum Cystatin C and 24 h urine microalbumin quantitative exami-nation in the early gestational diabetes kidney.Methods Chose 110 cases of patients from 37 to 40 weeks during pregnancy with gestational diabetes.According to the GFR,patients were divided into GFR moderate decline group A (30 ml/min/1.73m2 ≤GFR<60ml/min/1.73m2 ,n=30),GFR mild decline group B (60 ml/min/1.73m2 ≤GFR<89 ml/min/1.73m2 ,n=42)and GFR normal group C (GFR≥90 ml/min/1.73 m2 ,n=38).Choose the same gestational weeks 40 healthy preg-nants cases as control group D.Statistics of four groups of serum Cys C,24 h urine microalbumin quantitative,serum urea and creatinine,then analize.Results The levels of serum cystatin C and urine microalbumin compared between each group respectively,the differences were statistically significant (F=31.209,34.698,P <0.01,respectively).The levels of blood u-rea and creatinine in group A when compared with the other groups,found that the difference was statistically significant (F=5.845,4.575,P <0.01,respectively).When comparing the levels of blood urea and creatinine among the groups B,C and D,there was no statistical difference of significance (P >0.05).There was positive correlation between levels serum Cys C and urine microalbumin in group A and B (r=0.756,0.725,t=5.209,4.835,P <0.01,respectively).The sensitivity of Cys C and urine microalbumin were 95.2% and 90.5%,sensitivity of the combination of Cys C and urine microalbumin was 100% (χ2 =8.24,7.08,P <0.05,respectively).Conclusion As sensitive indicators of gestational diabetes in the early renal damage stage,joint detection of Cys C and urine microalbumin is of great significance for diagnosis and monitoring of diabe-tes in the early renal damage stage.

Objective To study the dosimetric impact of different angle fields in intensitymodulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and the feasibility of beam angle optimization (BAO) for multiple intracranial metastases.Methods In total,11 patients with multiple intracranial metastases were included in these analyses.Two treatment techniques were designed for each patient:the 7 equal spaced fields (BAF group) IMRT,and 7 fields by beam angle optimization (BAO group) IMRT.The dose distribution in the target,the dose to the organs at risk and normal brain tissues,and total MU in two groups were compared to explore the dosimetric differences.Results In comparison to the BAF group,the BAO group reduced the maximum dose to left and right lenses by an average of 45％,37％ (t =-5.707,-4.438,P ＜ 0.05);the mean dose to the left and right eyes were reduced by an average of 42.6％,44.5％ (t =-4.380,-5.638,P ＜0.05);the maximum dose to the right eyes were reduced by an average of 32.5％ (t =-2.518,P ＜ 0.05).The maximum dose of the right optic nerve and the mean dose of normal brain tissue were reduced by an average of 23％ and 3％ (t =-3.105,-3.437,P ＜0.05),respectively.For the target dose,conformity and homogeneity in PTV,no statistical differences were observed between the two groups (P ＞ 0.05).The BAO group reduced the maximum dose of the brainstem and the optic chiasm,as well as the number of MU,however,the differences were not statistically significant (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions In comparison to the BAF group,the BAO group shows a similar target dose and reduces the dose for the organs at risk.For multiple intracranial metastases,IMRT protocols with BAO are feasible and beneficial.

Objective: Ear, nose and throat foreign bodies are common in ENT clinical practice. This study was designed to establish the local data of otorhinolaryngeal foreign bodies in term of prevalence among paediatric and adult groups, the clinical features, types of foreign body at different sites, and laterality of foreign bodies. Method: This study was carried out at ENT department, Sarawak General Hospital, Malaysia, from 1st January 2005 to 31st December 2009. A total of 1084 cases were included and statistically analyzed. Result: Ear foreign bodies showed the highest incidence which was consisted of 480 (44.3%) cases, followed by nose in 270 (24.9%) cases, pharynx in 251(23.2%) cases, esophagus in 57 (5.3%) cases and laryngo-tracheobronchial tree in 26 (2.4%) cases. Otorhinolaryngeal foreign bodies occurred more frequently in 0-10 year old age group which constituted 651 (60.1%) cases. The descending order of frequency for foreign body sites in adult was pharynx (17.2%), ear (12.8%), esophagus (3.1%), nose (1.7%) and laryngo-tracheobronchial tree (1.1%). The type of foreign bodies varies with age group and site of foreign body lodgement. In general, common foreign bodies in both adult and children were food related, with the additional of small objects such as plastic toy in paediatric group. Conclusion: Otorhinolaryngeal foreign bodies were found more frequently in children. The types of foreign body were different from age group and sites of foreign body lodgement. The local food constituted the highest incidence of ear, nose, and throat foreign bodies with additional of plastic toys in paediatric group.
