Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics 1999;0(04):-
Objective To observe the long term results of intertrochanteric varus medial displacement osteotomy(IVMDO) for Perthes disease. Methods Thirty eight patients with Perthes disease treated with IVMDO were reviewed. The results were evaluated based on a criteria made by the authors including clinical and radiographic parameters. The duration of follow up ranged from 3 to 15 years, with an average of 7 years. Results Fifteen patients were evaluated as having excellent result, 17 good, 3 fair and 3 poor respectively. The overall excellent or good rate was 84.2%. Considering the relationship between the outcome and staging of the disease, the overall excellent or good rate was 94.7% in stage Ⅱ lesion, 85.7%in stage Ⅲ lesion, and 40.0% in stage Ⅳ lesion. Conclusion The treatment of Perthes disease with IVMDO has the advantages of simple manipulation, less trauma and good results, and is worthy of populariztion.

Latest researches have indicated that wogonin, a naturally occurring flavonoid, could sensitize tumor cells to apoptosis, selectively induce apoptosis in the malignant tumor cells, inhibit tumor angiogenesis, reverse drug resistance as well as promote tumor cell death synergistically with other anti-cancer agents. This paper sum-marizes the involving mechanisms of wogonin's anti-tumor effects.

Objective This study aims to investigate the mutation spectrum and frequency of GJB2 , mtDNA12SrRNA,and SLC26A4 genes in Hui people,Tibetan,Tu nationality, and Mongolian patients with non-syndromic hearing loss in Qinghai province. Methods Peripheral blood samples were obtained from a total of 211 minority patients with nonsyndromic hearing loss in Qinghai province to extract genomic DNA.Three genes of GJB2,mitochondrialDNA12SrRNA,and SLC26A4 were screened for mutations in our study cohort using SNPscan technology. Results Among these 211 patients,5 Tu patients and 1 Mongolian patient were found to carry the ho-moplasmic mtDNAA1555G mutation. The GJB2 mutations detection rates were 11.38%,4.55%,5.88%,and 10%in Hui people,Tibetan,Tu nationality, and Mongolian patients, respectively. No statistically significant differences in the GJB2 mutations detection rates were found among all four ethnicities (P>0.05).c.235delC was the most prevalent mutation in both Tu patients and Mongolian patients. The allele frequency was 2.94% and 5%,respec-tively.While for Hui patients,c.299 300delAT was the most prevalent mutation with the allele frequency of 4.47%.The mutations detection rates of SLC26A4 were 6.5%,4.55%and 2.94%in Hui people,Tibetan, and Tu nationality patients, respectively. No statistically significant differences in the SLC26A4 mutations detection rates were found among all three ethnicities (P>0.05).c.235delC was the most prevalent mutation in Hui patients, the allele frequency was 2.44%.While for Tibetan patients,c.1226G>A was the most prevalent mutation with allele frequency of 2.27%.Conclusion A total of 10.9% of deaf patients have inherited hearing impairment caused by GJB2,SLC26A4,and mtDNAA1555G mutations. The mutation spectrum of GJB2 and SLC26A4 genes has the eth-nic specificity in nonsyndromic hearing loss patients of minority ethnicities in Qinghai province.

Objective To study the expression and clinical significance of the SALL4 in human gastric carcinoma tissues. Methods The expression of SALL4 in 91 samples of gastric carcinoma and 37 samples of normal gastric tissues was detected by RT-PCR,Western blot and immunohistochemistry, and its relationship with the clinical data were analyzed statistically. Results The positive expression rate of SALL4 in gastric carcinoma(74.7%)was significantly higher than that(18.9%)in normal gastric mucosa tissues(P <0.05).Moreover,with the decreased with the differentiation of gastric carcinoma, the positive expression rate of SALL4 was increased. The expression of SALL4 mRNA and protein in gastric carcinoma tissues were significantly higher than that in normal gastric tissues(P <0.050).The expression levels of SALL4 were relevant to lymph node metastasis(P =0.001),infiltra-tion depth(P =0.029)and the differentiation degree of gastric carcinoma(P =0.050).Conclusion SALL4 was highly expressed in gastric cancer tissues and relevant to lymph node metastasis, infiltration depth and the differentiation degree, which may have play an important role in the development of gastric cancer.

Objective To investigate the effect-site concentration for 50% of maximal effect (EC50 )of propofol required for loss of consciousness and onset of burst suppression and to assess the effect of target-control infusion(TCI)of remifentanil on these EC50 of propofol. Methods Sixty patients undergoning general anesthesia for scheduled surgery were randomly divided into 2 groups (n=30):group R received TCI of remifentanil with a target concentraton of 4 ng/ml 10 minutes before TCI of propofol, which started at a target plasma concentration of 1μg/ml and then increased by 1μg/ml step every 1 minute until the burst suppression ratio reach to 15%.Group N received a mock TCI of saline instead of remifentanil and the other procedures were as same as group R.During this, all patients were assessed by modified Observ-er’s Assessment of Alertness/Sedation (OAA/S)scale,the loss of consciousness was definited by modified OAA/S values less than 2,the onset of burst suppression was definited by 15% of burst suppression ratio. Results The EC50 of effect-site concentration of propofol required for loss of consciousness and onset of burst suppression were 2.35 (95%CI 2.29-2.41)and 6.31 (95%CI 6.13-6.47)μg/ml respectively. The EC50 of propofol required for loss of consciousness was decreased to 1.73μg/ml by TCI of remifentanil, but the EC50 of propofol required for onset of burst suppression did not changed by TCI of remifentanil. Conclusion TCI of remifentanil could decrease the EC50 of propofol effect-site concentration required for loss of consciousness but has no effect on the EC50 of propofol required for onset of burst suppression.
