Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2013;(3):261-264
Background Abnormality of intraocular pressure (IOP) leads to ocular shape change and functional damage.Previous study on the influence factors of IOP mostly focus on eye tissue, but the research of systemic affecting factor is lack. Objective This study was to survey the distribution of IOP and its association with the systemic factors in Chinese population. Methods A cross-section study was designed in this study. The subjects were enrolled from the government employees physical check-up cohort in Guangzhou.IOP was measured using non-contact tonometry. The height, weight and blood pressure were measured based on a presupposed standard protocol.Fundus and slit lamp examinations were performed by trained ophthalmologists.Frequency-doubled perimetry was carried out in the subjects with the suspicious optical disc abnormality, and abnormal perimetry result and operated eye were rejected in the survey. The operative history was learned by questionnaire.Stata 11.0 was used for the data analysis. Results Total 7763 subjects finished all the examination, including 4213 male and 3550 female.Four hundred and fifteen subjects were excluded due to previous intraocular surgery and glaucoma, and the clinical data of the right eyes of 7348 subjects who were eligible for the protocol were brought into statistical analysis. The mean IOP was (15.6±2.8) mmHg in the subjects, and that in the male and female subjects was (15.6±2.8) mmHg and (15.7±2.8) mmHg,respectively, showing a statistically significant difference (t =2.415,P =0.016).A good consistence was found in the IOP between the right eyes and the left eyes (r=0.830,P<0.001).The IOP value in the subjects presented with a near normal distribution.IOP value was gradually decreased with the increase of age.Multivariate regression suggested a negative correlation between IOP and age or gender (P<0.001) as well as a positive correlation between IOP and body weight index (BMI),systolic blood pressure or diastolic blood pressure (P <0.001).Conclusions Similar to other studies in East Asia population,IOP is associated with age, gender,BMI,systolic and diastolic blood pressure in this survey.

Objective To investigate the clinical effect and quality of life of clopidogrel combined with atorvastatin in the treatment of cerebral infrction. Methods 74 patients with cerebral infarction were randomly divided into study group and control group, 37 cases in each group. The control group applied the traditional treatment methods, and the study group were treated with drug combination therapy ( clopidogrel +fluvastatin) on the basis of the control group. After 1 course (6 months), the scores of neurological function and activity, clinical efficacy and quality of life of the two groups were observed and compared. Results National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale ( NIHSS) and Fugl-Meyer were significantly improved in the two groups at discharge (P<0.05), but the improvement degree of the study group was significantly better than the control group (P<0.05).In the control group, 7 cases were ineffective, the effective rate was 81.1%, while the study group was 3 cases, the effective rate was 91.9%, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05), The study group were significantly better than the control group (P<0.05) in the physiological, environmental, health status and quality of life, but the difference was not statistically significant in the psychological and social dimensions. Conclusion Clopidogrel combined with fluvastatin in treating cerebral infarction could significantly improve the treatment efficiency, effectively control blood lipid levels of patients, and improve nerve function and activity ability of patients, and ultimately improve the quality of life of patients.

Objective To explore the TCM syndrome characteristics of cardiac syndrome X(CSX).Methods The signs and symptoms of 51 patients with CSX were analyzed according to the diagnosis of TCM syndromes to summarize their syndrome character- istics. Results of the 51 CSX cases, the following signs and symptoms took dominance:chest pain, fullness in chest, epigastric and abdominal distention, emotional distress, dark purple tongue with petechia, greasy coating,string-taut pulse. The syndromes were mainly of Biao-Superficial excess, including qi stagnation, phlegm retention and blood stasis, occupying 66. 7%,accompanied with Benroot deficiency, including qi deficiency, yin deficiency,qi and yin both deficiency, occupying 33.3%.Conclusion Qi stagnation, phlegm retention and blood stasis are the primary syndromes of CSX.

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of MRA on the abnormal vessels in Moyamoya and cerebral revascularization , and to evaluate PWI in the observation of cerebral hemodynamics before and after cerebral revascularization. Methods Twenty-four patients with Moyamoya disease ascertained by DSA received cerebral revascularization on one side.MRA and PWI were performed for all patients before and after the operation , while DSA was performed after operation in nine patients to compare the images of MRA and DSA by three experienced radiologists.Perfusion parameters in terminal branches of middle cerebral artery ( MCA) on the operative side were compared with those on the contralateral sides and the cerebellum , including cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral blood volume (CBV), mean transit time (MTT), and delay time ( DT) , as well as relative ratio ( values on the operative side/values on the contralateral side , and values on the operative side/values on the cerebellar region ) of perfusion parameters (rCBF, rCBV, rMTT and rDT) were calculated.Comparisons of the data between different groups were performed using paired Student′s t test. Results MRA was similar to DSA in displaying the internal carotid artery , main branches stenosis, Moyamoya vessels, and cerebral revascularization.DSA was better in displaying collateral vessels than MRA, but primary images of MRA provided anatomic and pathologic information of cerebral parenchyma. After the operations , rCBF (1.30 ±0.27) and rCBV (1.26 ±0.21) of MCA perfusion regions on the operative and the contralateral sides were higher than rCBF (0.73 ±0.15) and rCBV (0.98 ±0.12) before the operation significantly (t=-7.19,-6.64,P<0.05).rMTT (1.06 ±0.20) and rDT (1.07 ± 0.18) after the operation were lower than rMTT(1.53 ±0.34)and rDT (1.40 ±0.26) before the operation (t=5.62,5.40,P<0.05) .In MCA perfusion regions on the operative and cerebellar sides , rCBF(1.93 ± 0.34)and rCBV(2.25 ±0.35)were higher than rCBF(0.88 ±0.18)and rCBV(1.16 ±0.22)(t=-3.04,-3.06,P<0.05) before the operation.rMTT (1.13 ±0.29) and rDT (1.29 ±0.12) were lower than rMTT (1.88 ±0.19 ) and rDT ( 3.29 ±0.47 ) before the operation ( t =4.01, 4.72, P <0.05 ).Conclusions MRA is a safe , reliable method to evaluate abnormal vessels and cerebral revascularization after the operation in moyamoya disease.PWI can detect poor cerebral perfusion , and can be used for assessment of the effect of cerebral revascularization.

A total of 159 patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS)were enrolled from December 2006 to June 2008 and divided into the percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)group and the internal medicine treatment group. The participants in the two groups were further assigned to the Tirofiban or the placebo control group. The change in electrocardiograph within 48 hours, major adverse cardiac events (MACE)during hospital stay and 30 days' follow-up,and bleeding were compared between the sub-groups.As a result,in comparison with the placebo control groups, the Tirofiban sub-groups showed significant improvement in electrocardiography(P<0.01).In the internal medicine treatment group, the rate of MACE during 30 days' follow-up was significantly decreased in patients treated with Tirofiban(P<0.05),although no significant difference in bleeding rate was found. Our data suggest that Tirofiban may be safe and effective in the treatment of ACS.

short peptide AS1 screened from the phage random peptide library of 12 amino acids has antigenicity and can react with sera of AS patients. These findings indicate that AS1 could be one of candidate molecules of AS-specific serum markers.
