Chinese Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2006;3(4):148-152
Objective: To discuss the angioarchitectual characteristics of dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) and its appropriate therapeutic strategies. Methods: A total of 159 patients with DAVFs were retrospectively analyzed, including the clinical presentations, patterns of angioarchitecture. The appropriate therapeutic strategies, and the factors affecting the efficacy of treatmen were analyzed. Results: The patients with DAVFs were treated with different approaches. Sixty-nine patients with their DAVFs were treated in the cavernous sinus area, including type I (n = 58) and type II (n = 11); 41 patients in the lateral sinus area, including type I (n = 26), type II (n = 14) and type III (n = 1); 13 patients in the superior sagittal sinus area, including type I (n = 1), type II (n = 2) and type III (n = 10); 20 in the tentorial area, and 7 in the skull base area were all type III. There were 9 patients with multiple DAVFs. The main therapeutic approaches used were endovascular treatment. Postoperative angiography demonstrated that 79 patients were cured, 71 improved, and 9 failed. Postoperative complications were found in 9 patients, among them 8 were cured or improved and 1 died. Conclusion: The clinical presentation, treatment and prognosis depend upon the angioarchitecture, the location and the venous drainage patterns. Endovascular treatment is the first choice and chief therapeutic approach.

High mobility group box-1 protein (HMGB1) has recently been shown as a crucial late mediator of inflammation and sepsis, and is involved in mediating multi-organ functional lesions, including acute lung, liver, and intestine injuries. As a delayed inflammatory cytokine, HMGB1 provides a wider therapeutic time window for clinical intervention. HMGB1 has been proven to be a promising therapeutic target to prevent the development of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome in experimental models of severe sepsis. The pharmacological strategies include neutralization of antibodies or specific HMGB1 antagonists, suppression of HMGB1 secretion (ethyl pyruvate, agonists for alpha7-nicotinic acetylcholine receptors), and down-regulation of HMGB1 expression (sodium butyrate, signaling inhibitors for Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription).

This study is to develop a HPLC method for quality evaluation of Euodiae Fructus and related species by simultaneous determination limonin, indole alkaloids (14-fomyldihydroxyrutaecarpine, evodiamine, rutaecarpine), and quinolone alkaloids [1-methyl-2-undecyl-4 (1H)-quinolone, evocarpine, dihydroevocarpine] in the fruits of five Evodia species. Samples were analyzed on a YMC C18 column (4.6 mm x 250 mm, 5 microm) eluted with mobile phases of acetonitrile (A), tetrahydrofuran (B), and a buffer solution of 5 mmol x L(-1) ammonium acetate (pH 3.8) (C) in a linear gradient mode. The column temperature was 30 degrees C and the flow rate was 1.0 mL x min(-1). The PDA detector wavelengths were set at 220 and 250 nm. The seven compounds were well separated and showed good linearity (r = 0.999 9) within the concentration ranges tested. The mean recoveries were between 96.7%-102.4% (RSD 1.4%-3.1%). Through the validation, the method was proved to be accurate and repeatable. All the seven constituents were detected in the fruits of five species, but the contents of them varied widely in different samples. The total contents of seven constituents in 16 batches of Euodiae Fructus were 9.46-69.9 mg x g(-1), and the mean content was 28.2 mg x g(-1). The total content of seven constituents in E. compacta and E. fargesii was 25.8, 7.69 mg x g(-1), respectively.

OBJECTIVETo compared the effect between early anatomical open reduction, internal fixation (ORIF) and closed reduction, internal fixation (CRIF) for treatment of children displaced femoral neck fracture.
METHODSFrom March 2006 to May 2010,34 children with displaced femoral neck fractures were reviewed retrospectively. These patients were divided into two groups. Among them, 19 cases were treated by open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) as group A, included 11 males and 8 females with an average age of (8.1 +/- 1.3), the other 15 cases were treated by closed reduction and internal fixation (CRIF) as group B, included 9 males and 6 females with an average age of (7.9 +/- 1.5). Complications were observed and the short term effectiveness was evaluated by Ratliff standard.
RESULTSAll children were followed-up from 1 to 3 years (means 1.2 years). All fractures were healed. There was statistical different in the curative effects between the two groups (Z=2.389, P= 0.017). The incidence of complications in two groups had statistical different (P=0.046).
CONCLUSIONThe early ORIF could get better reduction with fewer complications than CRIF in fractures of the displaced femoral neck in children in Delbet type-II and type-III, therefore, ORIF should be considered.

Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry 2018;46(6):858-864
Due to the difference in spatial configuration and charge of the bases in a DNA molecule, characteristic translocation current pulses through a single nanopore could be obtained. This could become the basis of DNA sequencing method. However, due to the fast translocation speed (sub-micro seconds) and the small current change (about pA), it is still a challenge to obtain the accurate molecular substructure with present electronic techniques. In this work, in order to control the translocation behavior of ssDNA, two kinds of ionic liquids with high viscosity and conductivity were introduced to establish a viscosity gradient with the α-hemolysin single nanopore interface and the acidity of the solution was optimized. The trans chamber contained pure BmimPF6 and the cis chamber contained 1 mol/ L BmimCl and 10 mmol/ L Tris-HCl ( pH 5. 5 ). Preliminary experiment results under this electrolyte configuration showed that poly ( dC) 15 , poly ( dC) 15 , poly(dC) 30 and poly(dC) 50 exhibited obvious long duration pulses with high current suppression ratio. The blocking depth reached more than 95% of long blocking events. The duration time of long blocking events prolonged to tens or hundreds of milliseconds. Meanwhile, the peak-peak of baseline noise was reduced by about 30% .
