The study assessed the early functional outcomes with cemented titanium implants of radius in the treatment of comminuted fractures of radial heads. The functional outcomes of arthroplasty with cemented titanium implants of radius in the treatment of radial head fractures (Mason Type III: 6; Mason Type IV: 4) in 10 consecutive patients (mean age, 38 years) were evaluated over a mean time of 23.7 months (18-31 months). The patients were assessed on the basis of physical examination, functional rating (Mayo) and radiographic findings. The parameters evaluated included motion, stability, pain, and grip strength. Five patients were considered to have excellent results, 4 patients had good results and 1 patient had fairly good results. There were no cases of infection, prosthetic failure, heterotopic ossification or dislocation. When medial collateral ligament was injured, radial head became the main stabilizing structure of the elbow. Titanium radial head implant may provide the stability similar to that of native radial head. We believe that titanium radial head implants may be indicated for the Mason Type III and Mason Type IV radial head fractures.

Objective To investigate the effect of aprotinin on the inflammation response to reinfusion of shed blood during operation after being aspirated, filtered and washed using cell saver. Methods Twenty-four ASA I - II patients undergoing elective spinal surgery under general anesthesia were randomly divided into 2 groups: aprotinin group ( n = 12) and control group ( n = 12) .The patients were premedicated with intramuscular pentobarbital 0.1 g and atropine 0.5 mg. Anesthesia was induced with propofol 2 mg ? kg -1 , fentanyl 2-4 ?g ? kg-1 and vecuronium 0.1-0.3 mg ? kg-1 and maintained with isoflurane, propofol infusion and intermittent i. v. boluses of fentanyl and vecuronium. The patients were mechanically ventilated after tracheal intubation. In aprotinin group aprotinin 10 ? 105 IU was given before skin incision and another dose of aprotinin 10 ? 105 IU was continuously infused during operation. The blood shed during operation was collected, anticoagulated with heparin, filtered, washed and reinfused using AutoLog cell saver. Blood samples were taken from CVP line before skin incision (T1 , baseline), 30 min after reinfusion of salvaged bloods (T2) and at the end of operation (T3 ) for WBC and neutrophil granulocyte counts and determination of expression of CD11b and CD18 on the surface of neutrophil granulocytes using flow cytometry. Results The two groups were similar with respect to the general condition of the patients, duration of operation and account of shed blood reinfused. (676? 353) ml was reinfused in control group. The expression of CD11b and CD18 on the surface of neutrophil granulocytes increased significantly at T2 and T3 as compared to the baseline at T1 in control group ( P

Objective To investigate arterial blood gas(ABG)changes induced by different intra- abdominal pressures during CO_2 pneumoperitoneum in rabbits with lung and liver impact injury under controlled hemorrhage. Methods In this study 75 rabbits were randomized into nine groups(6 rabbits in each group)according to the amount of blood loss(6 ml/kg、12 ml/kg、22 ml/kg)and intra-abdominal pressures(5 mm Hg,10 mm Hg,15 mm Hg).After model was established successsfully, respiratory rates (RR),ABG and death rates were observed at pre-pneumoperitoneum,after 0.5 hour and 2 hours under pneumoperitoneum and 0.5 hour after desufflation. Results Without pneumoperitoneum, different blood loss exerted different effect on arterial blood gas:RR,PaCO_2 increased(P

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2006;26(6):713-5
To determine the effect of straight-leg-raising (SLR) movement on epidural fibrosis after laminectomy, 40 adult New Zealand rabbits were selected as laminectomy models in the study. They were divided into 2 groups: a SLR group (group S) and a control group (group C) randomly, with each group having 20 animals. All rabbits were subjected to total laminectomy in the site of S1. Every 5 rabbits in each group selected randomly were killed at the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 8th week after the surgery. Segments of spines from L7 to S2 were removed en bloc. After gross evaluation, specimens were sliced up. The slices were stained by HE and Masson's trichrome methods respectively for histological examination. Our results showed that formation process of scar in group S was retarded as compared with that of group C at the time of the 2nd-week, but there was no statistical difference between groups in the adhesion degree (P> or =0.05). At the 4th and 8th week, the epidural fibrosis of group S was more serious than that of group C. Since the 2nd-week, the area of scar in group S was larger than that of group C. The number of fibroblasts and inflammatory cells in group S were larger than those of group C at early stage. But in later stage, there was no statistical significance between the two groups. It is concluded that SLR movement after laminectomy may promote the formation of epidural fibrosis and retard the maturity of scar. SLR movement can also aggravate scar adhesion.

Objective To carried out rat as deep inferior epigastic perforator (DIEP) flap necrosis model,to reveal the continuous blood fluid change in process of flap necrosis. Methods Seven SpragueDawley rats of male were used. The designed DIEP flap model was pedicled on the right-sided cranial perforator.Near-infrared fluorescent angiography was performed using SPY imaging system pre-and-aft operation and all angiography videos were compared and analyzed. Results Using SPY imaging system could observe the process of the blood fluid scattered from perforator through choke anastomoses to next vascular territories in living body. The study could clearly observe sequence change of blood fluid pr-and-aft operation, which could give the important information in revealing the reason of necrosis in DIEP flap.Cross-midline traffic vascular sparse and eventually could no longer wear through the contralateral abdominal wall vessel area and open in the region of lateral thoracic vascular occlusion of blood vessels to reach the flap to the far left side, and showed no blood flow in the dark zone. Conclusion The reasons of necrosis of contralateral distal zone of the flap model, are the choke anastomoses across the midline to the contralateral side appeared small, less intensity and the blood supply to contralatral distal zone should through twice choke anastomoses.

Objective To investigate the possibility to create versatile system recovery disc for PACS workstation using the software Ghost 11. Methods Firstly, PACS and Windows software was installed into a PACS workstation. Secondly, S&R&S V9.7 1112F intelligent system -packaging tool and DllCacheManager_V1.6 Dllcache backup -restore tool were used to package the system. Finally, Ghost 11 was adopted to produce mirror image of the system. Results The image could recover system easily. Conclusion The system-recovery disc created by Ghost11 can significantly minimized the workload when the PACS workstation runs into error and improves the maintenance efficiency.

Objective To determine the effects of nitroglycerine on cooling and rewarming during cardiopulmonary bypass with deep hypothermic circulatory arrest (DHCAC).Methods Forty-six patients undergoing total aortic arch replacement with DHCAC, 38 males and 8 females, aged 26-74 years, falling into ASA physical status Ⅳ or Ⅴ, were randomly assigned to study group (n=24) and control group (n=22).The same cooling and rewarming methods were implemented in both groups.During cooling and rewarming, the study group received nitroglycerine infusion and the control group normal saline of same volume. The rectum rewarming time, the nasopharyngeal cooling and rewarming time were measured and compared. Results The time of rewarming rectum was significantly shorter in the study group compared to the control group [(104±30) min vs (127±31) min, P<0.05].There was no difference in cooling time , time of rewarming nasopharynx. Conclusion Nitroglycerine shortens the time of rewarming rectum during cardiopulmonary bypass with deep hypothermic circulatory arrest.
