Objective: To investigate formalin-induced inflammatory nociceptive response and Fos expression of interbrain following stellate ganglion block (SGB) in rabbits. Methods: Catheters were inserted closely to right stellate ganglia in rabbits. One week later,twenty-four rabbits were randomly divided into three groups of 8 each:sham group,SGB group and control group, receiving 0.5ml of normal saline,3% formalin and 3% formalin stimulation by intraplantar injection into the right front paw, respectively. ten mins before stimulation,0.5ml of 0.25% bupivacaine was administered via the catheter in SGB group, while 0.5ml of normal saline in sham group and control group. Nociceptive response was observed for 60min using weighted pain score. Local inflammatory response was measured by histopathology, the expression of Fos of interbrain was measured with immunohistochemistry 2 hours after stimulation. Results: Formalin-induced nociceptive behavior in phase 2 and local inflammatory response were relieved following SGB; the average numbers of Fos-positive neurons of hypothalamus in SGB group was lower than that in control group( P 0.05). Conclusion: SGB suppresses formalin-induced Fos expression of hypothalamus.

Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical factors contributing to the operative effects in patients with acetabular fracture. Methods A total of 129 cases of patients with acetabular fracture were retrospectively analyzed from Jun 2006 to Jan 2011 in The Second Hospital of Shaoxing.Of the 129 acetabular fracture patients,96 cases were in the superior group and 33 patients in the inferior group according to Merled'Aubigne-Postel methods. The potential clinical factors related to the operative effects in acetabular fracture patients were evaluated by the method of logistic regression analysis. Results The superior rate was 74% in this study.Single factor analysis demonstrated that the diaplastic quality(x2=21.53,P <0.01),the femoral cartilage defect(x2 =17.50,P <0.01),the inra-aticular free bone(x2=12.18,P =0.0005),the type of fracture (x2 =7.24,P =0.0071) and the timing of operation (x2 =4.36,P =0.037) were correlated with operative effects in acetabular fracture patients. The binary logistic regression analysis indicated that non-anatomic diaplastic (OR =4.17,P =0.01)and the femoral cartilage defect(OR =3.11,P =0.03) were independent risk factors for operative effects in patients with acetabular fracture. Conclusions The prognosis of patients with acetabular fracture, which was complex, was affected by multiple factors. And introperatively, the anatomic reestablishment should be performed in order not to affect the post operative hip function.

Objective To investigate the effect-site concentration for 50% of maximal effect (EC50 )of propofol required for loss of consciousness and onset of burst suppression and to assess the effect of target-control infusion(TCI)of remifentanil on these EC50 of propofol. Methods Sixty patients undergoning general anesthesia for scheduled surgery were randomly divided into 2 groups (n=30):group R received TCI of remifentanil with a target concentraton of 4 ng/ml 10 minutes before TCI of propofol, which started at a target plasma concentration of 1μg/ml and then increased by 1μg/ml step every 1 minute until the burst suppression ratio reach to 15%.Group N received a mock TCI of saline instead of remifentanil and the other procedures were as same as group R.During this, all patients were assessed by modified Observ-er’s Assessment of Alertness/Sedation (OAA/S)scale,the loss of consciousness was definited by modified OAA/S values less than 2,the onset of burst suppression was definited by 15% of burst suppression ratio. Results The EC50 of effect-site concentration of propofol required for loss of consciousness and onset of burst suppression were 2.35 (95%CI 2.29-2.41)and 6.31 (95%CI 6.13-6.47)μg/ml respectively. The EC50 of propofol required for loss of consciousness was decreased to 1.73μg/ml by TCI of remifentanil, but the EC50 of propofol required for onset of burst suppression did not changed by TCI of remifentanil. Conclusion TCI of remifentanil could decrease the EC50 of propofol effect-site concentration required for loss of consciousness but has no effect on the EC50 of propofol required for onset of burst suppression.
