Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical factors contributing to the operative effects in patients with acetabular fracture. Methods A total of 129 cases of patients with acetabular fracture were retrospectively analyzed from Jun 2006 to Jan 2011 in The Second Hospital of Shaoxing.Of the 129 acetabular fracture patients,96 cases were in the superior group and 33 patients in the inferior group according to Merled'Aubigne-Postel methods. The potential clinical factors related to the operative effects in acetabular fracture patients were evaluated by the method of logistic regression analysis. Results The superior rate was 74% in this study.Single factor analysis demonstrated that the diaplastic quality(x2=21.53,P <0.01),the femoral cartilage defect(x2 =17.50,P <0.01),the inra-aticular free bone(x2=12.18,P =0.0005),the type of fracture (x2 =7.24,P =0.0071) and the timing of operation (x2 =4.36,P =0.037) were correlated with operative effects in acetabular fracture patients. The binary logistic regression analysis indicated that non-anatomic diaplastic (OR =4.17,P =0.01)and the femoral cartilage defect(OR =3.11,P =0.03) were independent risk factors for operative effects in patients with acetabular fracture. Conclusions The prognosis of patients with acetabular fracture, which was complex, was affected by multiple factors. And introperatively, the anatomic reestablishment should be performed in order not to affect the post operative hip function.

Aim To investigate the protective effects of total triterpenoid from Prunella vulgaris L. ( TTP) on CCl4-induced hepatic fibrosis in rats and its mecha-nism. Methods Rat liver fibrosis was induced by 50% CCl4 twice a week for 12 weeks. From the 5th week, all the therapeutic groups were treated with the TTP(25, 50, 100 mg·kg-1 ) and the colchicine (0. 1 mg· kg-1 ) respectively once a day for 8 weeks. At the end of the twelfth week, the levels of ALT, AST, HA, PCⅢ, CⅣ, MDA, SOD, GSH-Px, Hyp were measured . HE and Masson staining were used to evalu-late the degree of hepatic fibrosis. The mRNA expres-sion ofα-SMA, procollagen I, Smad2, Smad3, Smad7 in liver was detected by RT-PCR, and the p-ERK pro-tein expression was evaluated by Western blot. Results Compared with the model group, TTP(25, 50, 100 mg·kg-1 ) not only reduced serum content of ALT, AST, HA, PCⅢ, CⅣand Hyp, MDA in liver tissue, improved the morphologic changes of hepatic fibrosis, but also increased SOD and GSH-Px activity. Moreo-ver, it decreased the α-SMA, procollagen I, Smad2, Smad3 mRNA expression and increased Smad7 mRNA expression in liver tissues obviously. Furthermore, TTP reduced the protein expression of p-ERK. Conclusions TTP can protect rats from CCl4-induced liver fibro-sis. The mechanism of this process may involve inhibi-ting the expression of p-ERK and interference with TGF-β1/Smad signal transduction pathway.

AIM:To investigate the efficiency of 2-methoxyestradiol (2-ME) as radiosensitizing agent for the treatment of lung cancer cells. METHODS:Cell line A549 and GLC-82 originated from human non-small cell lung cancer were cultured in vitro. Study group (2-ME in different concentrations) and control group without 2-ME were set up. Cell proliferation was measured by MTT assay that lung cancer cells were treated with 2-ME for 24 h,then the cells were exposed from 0 to 8Gy radiation, and the survival fraction was determined by clone forming test. Flow cytometry was used to measure the effects of 2-ME on cell cycle distribution. RESULTS:MTT assay showed minimum effective concentration value was 0.15625×10~(-6) mol/L in GLC-82 and 1.25×10~(-6) mol/L in A549 cells. Compared to control group, exposed GLC-82 cells or A549 cells to minimum effective concentration of 2-ME for 24 h before irradiation resulted in an enhancement of radiation. The protection enhancement factor was 1.98 and 2.06 in GLC-82 and A549 cells, respectively. Flow cytometry analysis of cell cycle progression demonstrated G_2/M phase arrest in both cells in a dose dependent manner. No obvious change of CDK2 activity in both GLC-82 cells and A549 cells was observed. CONCLUSION:2-ME enhances radiosensitivity by G_2/M phase arrest in the cell cycle.
