ObjectiveTo investigate the correlation between the level of resistin and the insulin resistance(IR) and the incorporation of microamount albuminuria(MA) of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).MethodsTwo hundred and twenty T2DM patients and 40 normal subjects (control group) were enrolled in this study.Two hundred and twenty T2DM patients were divided into 4 groups,IR group (group A,79 cases),non-IR group (group B,48 cases),IR complicating MA group (group C,51 cases),non-IR complicating MA group(group D,42 cases).The fasting serum resistin was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA),and the fasting plasma glucose (FPG),glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c),fasting insulin (FINS) was also determined.ResultsThe level of fasting serum resistin in group A,B,C and D was higher than that in control group [(33.45 ± 1.37),(23.36 ± 1.47),(44.45 ± 1.39),(37.45 ±1.57) μ g/L vs.( 17.44 ± 1.26 ) μ g/L],and there was significant difference among 5 groups (P ＜ 0.01 ).The level of fasting serum resistin in group A was higher than that in group B (P ＜ 0.01 ),and the level of fasting serum resistin in group C was higher than that in group D (P ＜ 0.01 ).The level of fasting serum resistin was both higher in group C and D than that in goup A and B (P＜ 0.01 ).Correlation analysis showed the fasting serum resistin was positively correlated with body mass index(BMI),FPG,HbA1c and FINS in group A(r =0.35,0.46,0.37,0.49,P ＜0.05),and the fasting serum resistin was positively correlated with HbA1c,BMI,systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure in group C(r =0.45,0.32,0.37,0.29,P ＜ 0.05 ).ConclusionsSerum resistin may participate in the process of IR and the formation of MA.It may become one of the diagnostic standard of the IR and one of the important index to estimate the MA.

Objective To discuss the complications of the bilateral uterine artery superselective embolization for uterine fibroids. Methods Fourty one cases(mean 42 years old) with uterine fibroids were approached by right femoral artery puncture; including thirty six cases of single hysteromyoma(33 cases with diameter 10 cm), and 5 cases of multi hysteromyoma. Bilateral uterine artery super selective 5F catheterization embolization were done along uterine descending artery(neck of uterus to vagina)with PVA particles. Rdsults Embolization succeeded with 100% and effective ratio was 92.3%. Sixteen of these cases showed post embolization syndrome, with something outflowed from vagina and 10 cases showed changes of emmenia but with no serious complications in all 41 cases. Conclusion Using bilateral uterine artery superselective embolization for uterine fibroids with PVP grains can decrease the incidence of complications. (J Intervent Radiol, 2006, 15: 280-282)

To study the effects of major components of Maijunan tablets, puerarin (Pue) and rhynchophylline (Rhy) on the transport of hydrochlorothiazide (Hct) Caco-2 cell monolayer model, the transport parameters of Hct, such as apparent permeability coefficient (P(app) (B --> A) and P(app) (A --> B)) and the ratio of P(app) (B --> A) versus P(app) (A --> B), were studied and compared when Hct was used solely and co-used with Pue and/or Rhy. The effects of drug concentrations, conveying times, P-glyprotein (P-gp) inhibitor verapamil and conveying Liq pH values on the transport of Hct in the above conditions were also investigated. The results indicated that the absorption of Hct in Caco-2 cell monolayer model could be a carrier-mediated active transport, along with the excretion action mediated by P-gp. Pue can decrease the excretion action of Hct mediated by P-gp, and Rhy had no significant effect on the transport of Hct. The co-use of Hct, Pue and Rhy enhanced the absorption of Hct. Meanwhile, conveying Liq pH value had significant influence on the transport of Hct. The absorption of Hct at pH 6.0 was higher than that at pH 7.4.

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility ofin vitro balloon dilatation for treating aortic coarctation infants younger than 6 months. Methods: A total of 13 aortic coarctation infants treated in our hospital from 2011-01 to 2015-12 were summarized. The patients were at the mean age of 3.4 months (from 20 days to 6 months), with the mean body weight of 4.8 kg (from 3.6 kg to 6.2 kg) including 9 male. Aortic coarctation segments were resected during the operation and the resected segments were expanded by percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) via (2-4) times diameter balloon dilatation. The diameters of resected aortic segments were recorded before and after expansion; the change of vascular middle smooth muscle layer was observed by HE staining. Results: There were 8 cases with non-restricted ventricular septal defect (VSD) and 3 of them received staging operation, 2 with atrial septal defect (ASD), 3 with bicuspid aortic valve, 3 with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and 1 with pericardial effusion. The resected aortic segments presented that 9 patients had diaphragm type narrow and 4 had tube type narrow. After PTA, the diameters of resected aortic segments were slightly increased for the mean of 0.2 mm and no obvious change was observed; HE staining showed that the vascular inner mucosa was shed, while the middle smooth muscle layer was intact. Conclusion: Balloon dilatation had the poor effect for treating aortic coarctation infants younger than 6 months; surgical procedure could be applied for treating the relevant patients.

BACKGROUND:Previous studies have mainly focused on costal cartilage, articular cartilage, nasal septal cartilage, and auricular cartilage, but in vitro culture of human vertebral endplate cartilage is stil rarely reported. OBJECTIVE: To discuss the feasibility of culture of vertebral endplate chondrocytes from type I neurofibromatosis associated with scoliosis patientsin vitro and to study the biological characters of the chondrocytes. METHODS: Through two-step enzymatic digestion and tissue culture, the chondrocytes from the vertebral endplate of seven type I neurofibromatosis patients isolated and cultured in monolayer and passaged to observe the changes of cel morphology under inverted phase contrast microscope. Colagen type II expression was detected by immunocytochemistry to identify whether the cels had chondrocyte characters. The growth kinetics was detected by using MTT colorimetric assay to draw the growth curve of passage 2 chondrocytes. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:A few chondrocytes crawled from the cartilage after 2 weeks culture and cels were passaged at 3 weeks. Along with passage going on, the phenotype of chondrocytes was changed from polygonal, round, triangle, and irregular shapes to fusiform. The colagen type II expression in passage 2 cels was positive by immunohistochemical staining. MTT test showed the growth curve of the passage 2 chondrocytes presented a transverse “S”. Cels were found logarithmic growth at days 4-7, reached platform stage at days 8-13, and decreased at day 14. It is an effective and simple procedure by two-step enzymatic digestion and tissue explant method to culture vertebral endplate chondrocytes with high purity and good viability from type I neurofibromatosis patients associated with scoliosisin vitro. Passage 2 chondrocytes from the vertebral endplate exhibit the best viability at days 4-7, which can be used as targets for research of pathogenesis of type I neurofibromatosis with atrophic scoliosis.

Background Refractive lens exchange is one of corrective surgeries for high myopic eyes and is concerned in clinic recently. Its clinical value is worthy of consideration. Objective This study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of refractive lens exchange for high myopic eyes. Methods Phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation was performed on 124 eyes of 65 patients with high myopia. The mean age of these patients was 51. 4±8. 57 years old,and the preoperative corrected visual acuity was 4. 11±0. 51. The mean spherical equivalent was ( -20. 17±5. 34) D. The mean axial length was (31. 33±2. 08) mm and intraocular lens power 2. 88 D. The follow-up time was 31 months. The uncorrective visual acuity, best corrective visual acuity, the spherical equivalent lens and complications were observed after operation. Written informed consent was obtained prior to the surgery. Results The uncorrective visual acuity improved after the operation in all the eyes. The uncorrective visual acuity was ≥0.5 in 15 eyes(12% ). The best corrected visual acuity improved in 114 eyes (92% ) following the surgery and that of 64 eyes (51. 6% ) was 2s 0. 5. The mean postoperative spherical equivalent was ( -2. 57 ± 1. 76 ) D in the entire follow-up duration. Posterior capsular opacification was found in 58 eyes (46. 7% ) and received laser capsulotomy. Retinal detachment occurred in 4 eyes throughout the follow-up period. Conclusion Refractive lens exchange is an effective and safe method for high myopic eyes. But preoperative fundus examination and long-term postoperative follow-up should be carried out to prevent the complications.

Objective To study the relationship of microinflammation,nutrition and common carotid artery intima-media thickness(CCA-IMT) for the early prevention and interference of ischemic stroke. Methods(CCA-IMT was) measured by carotid arterial ultrasound in 250 elderly subjects.The levels of serum high-sensitivity C-(reactive) protein(hsCRP),ferritin,albumin,pre-albumin and transferrin were assayed at the same time.According to the results of CCA-IMT,all the subjects were divided into five groups:
