Objective To compare the immediate effects of extracorporeal shock wave therapy with that of joint mobilization plus short wave therapy in treating scapulohumeral periarthritis, and to elucidate the mechanism of extracorporeal shock wave therapy and how it should be used. Methods Forty-seven patients diagnosed with scapulohumeral periarthritis were selected and randomized into two groups, a treatment group (n = 26) treated with extracorporeal shock wave therapy, and a control group ( n = 21 ) treated with joint mobilization plus short wave therapy. The short form of the McGill pain questionnaire (SF-MPQ) and range of motion (ROM) measurements were used to evaluate shoulder function. Results Compared with baseline, both groups improved significantly af-ter treatment, but the immediate effect in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group. Concln-sions As a safe, time-saving and effective therapy, extracorpnreal shock waves could be used to treat scapulo-humeral periarthritis.

Objective To investigate the expressions of extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer molecule CD147 and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) protein in gastric cancer and their relationship with the pathological behavior and prognosis.Methods Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expressions of CD147 and EGFR protein in 63 cases of gastric cancer and 40 cases of paracancerous normal tissues.The study was also combined with analysis of the pathological behavior and clinical follow-up survey of gastric cancer.Results The positive expression rates of CD147 and EGFR protein in gastric cancer were 77.8％ (49/63) and 42.9％ (27/63),respectively,which were higher than those in paracancerous normal tissues 25.0％ and 0 (x2 =27.851,P =0.000;x2 =23.233,P =0.000).In gastric cancer,the expressions of CD147 and EGFR were closely related to the depth invasion (x2 =5.992,P =0.014;x2 =13.148,P =0.000),TNM stages (.x2 =8.481,P=0.004;x2=14.589,P=0.000),lymph node metastasis (x2 =5.270,P=0.022;x2=20.261,P =0.000) and prognosis of patients (x2 =5.606,P =0.018;x2 =4.982,P =0.026).The expression of CD147 was also significantly correlated with Ki-67 expression (x2 =10.481,P =0.001).CD147 expression was positively correlated with EGFR expression(r =0.309,P =0.014).Conclusion The expressions of CD147 and EGFR are closely related to carcinogenesis,metastasis and survival time of gastric cancer.Detecting the expressions of CD147 and EGFR may be prognostic indicators of gastric cancer.

Objective To investigate the clinical value of 18 F-FDG PET CT scan in the diagnosis of thin lung nodules. Methods 56 solitary cases of nodules in the lungs,nodule size ranged from 1～3 cm,conducted 18 F-FDG PET/CT imaging and thin layer CT scan at the same time, 18 F-FDG PET imaging using visual measurement combined with semi-quantitative method to determine the degree of malignant of the lesions; conducted MPR recon-struction after thin layer CT scan, based on the lesions morphology to determine the degree of malignant. Then com-pared the results of above,and the results of the combination of 18 F-FDG PET imaging and thin layer CT scan,with the pathological results after surgery. Results The sensitivities of PET imaging alone,thln layer CT alone,joint ima-ging diagnosis of SPN are 92.6% ,88.2% ,96.4% ,specificity are 73.3% ,57.1% ,85.7% ,accuracy percentage rate are 89.3% ,80.4% ,94.6% ,the positive predictive values are 92.6% ,91.8% ,96.4% ,and negative predictive val-ues are 84.6% ,61.5% ,92.3% ,respectively. Conclusion 18 F-FDG PET combined with thin layer CT scanning is a very effective method to clinical diagnosis the malignant degree of SPN.

AIM:To set up a method for determining epimedin C and icariin in Xianling Guobao Capsules(Herba Epimedii,Radix et Rhizoma Salviae miltiorrhizae,Fructus Psoraleae,Radix Rehmanniae,etc.). METHODS:The chromatographic conditions included the column of Spherisorb C 18 (4.6 mm?250 mm,5 ?m),the mobile phase was acetonitrice and water as gradient eluent was at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min,the detection wavelength was set at 270 nm and the column temperature was at 25 ℃. RESULTS:The linear range of epimedin C was 0.22-2.20 ?g and icariin was 0.04-0.40 ?g,respectively. The average recovery of epimedin C and icariin were 103.2% (RSD=3.1%) and 97.8% (RSD=3.2%),respectively. CONCLUSION:The method is reliable,stable and well reproducible,and can control the quality of Xianling Guobao Capsules.

Objective To investigate whether there is Blomia tropicalis breeding in the flour warehouse of food factory in a civil aviation airport,and,if there is,to observe the morphological structure of the mite. Methods The flour samples were col-lected from the flour warehouse of food factory in a civil aviation airport. The breeding mites were isolated from the samples by di-rect microscopy and made into specimens to observe with a light microscope. Results Female Blomia tropicalis was found in the collected flour samples. Under the microscope,the mite was nearly spherical,and it had no tergum and claw. Its apodemeⅠwas developed and connected in the midline. The reproductive hole was located between the foot Ⅲand IV level and was cov-ered with a pair of oblique genital folds. The footⅢandⅣhad no solenoids. The copulatory pouch was a long,slightly curved tube,extending from the end of the mite. Conclusions Blomia tropicalis has been found in the flour warehouse of a food factory in the civil aviation airport. The main distinguishing feature of this mite is that it has no tergum,its feet have no pectinate inferi-or tarsus scales or claw,the feetⅠgenu has only one solenidia,and feetⅢandⅣhave no solenidias.

Objective To investigate the relationship of tumor malignancy with Na+ microcurrent measured by microcurrent detector in order to develop a novel approach for rapid intraoperative diagnosis of tumor.Methods 101 cases of various tumors were studied.Na+ microcurrent of tumor tissue or surrounding normal tissue was measured by Na+ microcurrent detector.All tumor tissues were sampled for histopathological examination as well.Results In 97 cases(96%),the Na+ microcurrent level in tumor tissue was significantly different from that in surrounding normal tissue.It was greater than 30?A in tumor tissue with the maximum of 60-70?A,and averagely 20?A in surrounding normal tissue.The consistency of Na+ microcurrent detection and pathological examination was 96%.Conclusion the measurement of Na+ microcurrent by microcurrent detector is rapid,convenient and accurate,which may become a novel approach for rapid intraoperative diagnosis of tumor malignancy.

Background: Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4α (HNF4α) plays an important role in the development of liver,and studies demonstrate that it is correlated with the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).However,the regulatory effect of HNF4α on expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in human HCC cell lines and tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) is not yet clear.Aims: To investigate the effect of HNF4α on expression of VEGF in human HCC cell lines and tube formation of HUVEC.Methods: Lentiviral vector overexpressed HNF4α was constructed,and then transfected into HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells (experimental group),cells transfected with lentiviral blank vector and cells without transfection were served as negative control group and blank control group,respectively.The mRNA and protein expressions of HNF4α,VEGF were detected by qRT-PCR and Western blotting,respectively.The conditioned media of HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells were co-cultured with HUVEC,and number of HUVEC tube formation was measured.Results: HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells with stable overexpression of HNF4α were successfully established.Compared with negative control group and blank control group,mRNA and protein expressions of VEGF in experimental group were significantly decreased (P＜0.05),and number of HUVEC tube formation was significantly decreased (P＜0.05).Conclusions: HNF4α can significantly inhibit the expression of VEGF in HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells and tube formation of HUVEC.

Objective To observe the effect of different thyroid hormone level on the expression of synaptotagmin Ⅰ(Syt Ⅰ) in adult rat hippocampus. Methods All 28 adult male SD rats were assigned randomly into hypothyroid, hyperthyroid and control group, hypothyroid group was established by daily intraperitoneal injections with propylthiou raci(PTU, 10.0 mg/kg body weight) for 6 weeks and hyperthyroid group with L-Thyroxine (L-T4, 0.5 mg/kg body weight) for 3 weeks. Radioimmunity method was used to assay the levels of serum T3 and T4, immunohistochemical S-P technology to assay the levels of Syt Ⅰ protein in hippoeampus CA1, CA3 and dentate gyrus (DG). The layers analyzed in the different subfields include the polymorphic cell layer(the stratum oriens, SO), pyramidal cell layer(PCL), stratum radiatum (SR), lacunosum-molecular layer (SLM) in CA1 and CA3, granular cell layer(GL) and molecular layer(ML) in DG. Results The levels of serum T3 and T4[(0.34±0.12), (41.03± 11.37)nmol/L]in the hypothyroid rats were significantly lower than those in the control group[(0.65±0.15), (55.20±10.68)nmol/L, P < 0.01 or < 0.05], and the positive granule of Syt Ⅰ was significantly lower in PCL and SR of CA1 and CA3, GL of DG. The average optical value responsible for Syt Ⅰ immunoreactivity was obviously reduced in SO(0.048±0.007), PCL(0.299±0.035), SR(0.042±0.007), SLM(0.038±0.006) of CA1, PCL(0.085± 0.019), SR(0.040±0.011), SLM (0.038±0.006) of CA3, GL (0.076±0.019) of DG than normal controls (0.068± 0.014, 0.376±0.053, 0.053±0.008,0.056±0.009,0.118±0.026,0.052±0.010,0.053±0.009,0.099±0.015; P< 0.01 or < 0.05). Serum T3 and T4 levels [(1.43±0.30), (157.18±19.95)nmol/L]of hyperthyroid rats were significantly higher than those of control group(P < 0.01). The value was reduced in PCL(0.322±0.050), SR(0.039±0.006), SLM (0.042±0.006) of CA1, PCL(0.098±0.034), SR(0.046±0.013), SLM(0.046±0.010) of CA3 and GL(0.085± 0.024), ML (0.042±0.009) of DG (P < 0.05 or < 0.01). Conclusion Adult-onset of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can reversibly decrease the expression of Syt Ⅰ in CA1, CA3 and DG regions of hippocampus.

OBJECTIVE To establish an in vitro cell model based on patient-specific human neural stem cells to study the pathomechanism of sporadic AD as well as screen candidate drugs.METHODS The peripheral blood cells from sporadic AD patients and cognitive normal controls were repro-grammed into inducedpluripotent stem cells(iPSCs),which were further induced into neural stem cells and neurons. The cell growth curve during the differentiation process was recorded by the IncuCyte ZOOM, and neural stem cells and neurons were identified by immunofluorescence. The apoptosis of neural stem cells and neurons was detected by Click-iT?Plus TUNEL Assay. RESULTS Neural stem cells derived from AD patients and cognitive normal controls can express neural stem cell markers Nes-tin,Sox1,Sox2 and Ki67.TUNEL assay results showed that the number of TUNEL-positive cells in neu-ral stem cells derived from AD patients was significantly higher than that of cognitive normal controls (P<0.01). When neural stem cells were differentiated into neurons, the percentage of MAP2 positive cells in the neural stem cell-derived culture dish of AD patients was significantly higher than the cogni-tive normal controls at day 16 of neuronal differentiation (P<0.01); the TUNEL assay showed that the number of TUNEL-positive cells in AD-derived neurons was significantly greater than that in cognitive normal controls (P<0.01) at day 16 of neuronal differentiation. CONCLUSION Our study revealed that AD-iPSC-derived neural stem cells exhibit premature neuronal differentiation and increased neural apoptosis,which might be relevant to the neuronal loss of AD,thus may provide valuable new tools to screen candidate drugs for the disease and to discover the mechanisms underlying AD pathogenesis.

Objective To explore the prevalence of health literacy in China in 2011-2013.Methods The eligible studies were identified by searching China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI),Chinese BioMedical Literature Database (CBM),VIP Database for Chinese Technical Periodicals (VIP),Wanfang database,PubMed and Embase.The Meta-analysis was applied with Stata 12.0 software.Subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis were performed to test the robust of the results.Results A total of 28 studies,including 53 308 residents,were finally included in the review.Meta-analysis revealed the prevalence of health literacy in China to be 16％ (95％CI 15％-16％),and the prevalence of health concepts and knowledge was 25％ (95％CI 25％-26％),and healthy lifestyles and behaviors was 13％ (95％CI 12％-14％),and health skills was 32％ (95％CI 31％-32％).Conclusions The health literacy levels of residents showed a rising trend.There were differences between rural and urban health literacy levels and different regions.Rural residents' health literacy level increased more significantly than that of the city.Due to limited kinds of methods,more scientific and effective methods were needed to evaluate the health literacy.
