Objective To investigate the expressions of extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer molecule CD147 and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) protein in gastric cancer and their relationship with the pathological behavior and prognosis.Methods Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expressions of CD147 and EGFR protein in 63 cases of gastric cancer and 40 cases of paracancerous normal tissues.The study was also combined with analysis of the pathological behavior and clinical follow-up survey of gastric cancer.Results The positive expression rates of CD147 and EGFR protein in gastric cancer were 77.8％ (49/63) and 42.9％ (27/63),respectively,which were higher than those in paracancerous normal tissues 25.0％ and 0 (x2 =27.851,P =0.000;x2 =23.233,P =0.000).In gastric cancer,the expressions of CD147 and EGFR were closely related to the depth invasion (x2 =5.992,P =0.014;x2 =13.148,P =0.000),TNM stages (.x2 =8.481,P=0.004;x2=14.589,P=0.000),lymph node metastasis (x2 =5.270,P=0.022;x2=20.261,P =0.000) and prognosis of patients (x2 =5.606,P =0.018;x2 =4.982,P =0.026).The expression of CD147 was also significantly correlated with Ki-67 expression (x2 =10.481,P =0.001).CD147 expression was positively correlated with EGFR expression(r =0.309,P =0.014).Conclusion The expressions of CD147 and EGFR are closely related to carcinogenesis,metastasis and survival time of gastric cancer.Detecting the expressions of CD147 and EGFR may be prognostic indicators of gastric cancer.

Objective Cervical radiculopathy treatment experts' consensus to establish radiculopathy type by using the modified Delphi method. Methods Use document retrieval method to review information and articles about the treatment guidelines and articles of cervical radiculopathy including domestic and international areas, established a protocol about clini?cal consensus of the treatments for cervical radiculopathy. This protocol included 23 questions (the effective proportion of non?operating therapy, neck immobilization, physiotherapy, pharmacologic treatment, surgical indications, contraindications, anteri?or surgical decompression, anterior surgical implants). We performed a modified Delphi survey in which current professional opinions from experienced experts, representing from almost all of the Chinese provinces, were gathered. And then we modi?fied the protocol according to those professional opinions. Three rounds were performed and finally we established consensus. Consensus was achieved with ≥70% agreement. Results The panel included 30 experienced experts. The recycling question?naire's quantity of three rounds were 30(100%), 24(80%) and 16(53.3%) respectively. After three expert assessments, there were 18 questions which achieved with≥70%agreement and these questions accounted for 64.3%(18/28) of all the questions. Consen?sus of the treatments for cervical radiculopathy was reached on 7 aspects, including:the effective proportion of non?operating thera?py (1 question), neck immobilization (1 question), physiotherapy (1 question), pharmacologic treatment (5 questions), surgical indi?cations (3 questions), contraindications (4 questions), surgery (3 questions). Conclusion This modified Delphi study had reached a consensus concerning several treatment issues on cervical radiculopathy which had strong representativeness of experts and good convergence of opinions. In the absence of high?level evidence, at present, these experts' opinion findings will guide health care providers to define appropriate treatment in their regions. Areas with no consensus provide excellent insight for future research.

Background Optical nerve damage of glaucomatous eyes is associated with intracranial pressure.Conventional method of evaluating intracranial pressure is to measure cerebrospinal pressure by lumber puncture.However,the measurement of intraorbital optical nerve parameters,a novel method of evaluating intracranial pressure,is introduced in this field.Objective This study was to measure and analyze the intraorbital optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) and cross sectional area (ONSA) in normal population using multi-slice spiral CT.Methods This study protocol was approved by Clinical Ethic Committee of Shenzhen Chinese Traditional Medical Hospital and followed Hersinki Declaration.Informed consent was obtained from each individual prior to any medical examination.One hundred and five eyes of 105 normal persons with normal cerebral CT image were enrolled in Shenzhen Chinese Traditional Medical Hospital from January 2012 to September 2013.Cerebral volume was scanned in all the individuals by 64 slice spiral CT.The brain images were obtained for the curve planar rebuilding of intraorbital optical nerve on image post-processing workstation.The maximum and minimum of ONSD and the ONSA in axial sections at 3,6,9,12 and 15 mm far away from globe wall were measured using a standardized technique to analyze the change of optical nerve parameters at different point locations.These parameters were compared in different gender or eyes.The correlation among age and the optical nerve parameters at 3 mm far away from globe wall was evaluated by multivariate regression analysis.Results The average maximal ONSDs were (6.24±0.47), (5.56±0.44),(5.18±0.43),(4.82±0.41) and (4.69±0.41) mm;the average minimal ONSDs were (5.56±0.50),(4.97± 0.41) ,(4.55±0.35),(4.26±0.39) and (4.10±0.40) mm;the average ONSAs were (27.68±4.40),(22.02±3.35) , (18.74± 2.75) , (16.34±2.72) , (15.40±2.68) mm2 at 3,6,9,12 and 15 mm far away from posterior eyeball wall,respectively, showing significant differences in the maximal/minimal ONSDs and ONSAs among the different point locations (F =218.329,215.906,246.924, all at P =0.001).No significant differences were found in the maximal/minimal ONSDs and ONSAs between male and female or between the right eyes and left eyes (gender:t=1.805,P=0.074;t=1.930,P=0.056;t=1.329,P=0.187;eyes:t=0.724,P=0.471;t=1.562,P=0.121;t=1.424,P=0.158).No significant correlations were seen between age and maximal/minimal ONSDs or ONSAs with the coefficients of 1.873,7.415 and-0.853 correspondingly (P =0.847,0.460,0.637).Conclusions Intraorbital section of optical nerve can be rebuilt using standardized technique after scanning of 64 slice spiral CT.The cross section of intraorbital optic nerve sheath is oval in shape and the optic nerve is thinning with the increase of distance far away posterior eyeball wall in normal populatuion.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second major neurodegenerative disease.The pathogenesis of PI) is still unclear.It is generally believed that neural damage, mitochondrial dysfunction, inflammation, oxidative stress and autophagy dysfunction caused by the transmission and aggregation of a- synuclein play an important role in the occurrence and development of PD.More and more research show- that metabolic disorder is one of the pathogenesis of PD.We examined whether overexpression of a- synuclein could induce metabolic disorder in mice and the possible mechanisms.Mice were divided into two groups: Thyl-aSYN transgenic mice (TG) and the control wild-type (WT) group.The rotarod test was used to analyze motor function in mice.We detected the body weight, plasma insulin content, glucose tolerance and insulin tolerance in the two group mice.The morphology of islets in the two groups were observed by hematoxylin eosin (HE) staining, and the islets were isolated to detect the glucose- stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS).The results showed that compared with the WT group, exercise tolerance of 12-month-old TG group decreased by 23.1% (P < 0.05) , body weight increased by 7% (P < 0.01), glucose tolerance decreased (P < 0.05), insulin tolerance decreased (P < 0.05), and insulin contents in the peripheral blood decreased by 20% (P < 0.05).Compared with the WT group, the levels of ce -syn proteins in the pancreas of the TG group increased by 1.32 times (P < 0.05) , the area of islets in the TG group decreased (P < 0.05 ) , the number of islets decreased (P < 0.01) , and the insulin secretion function decreased (P< 0.01).This study showed that the role of a-synuclein in PD is not limited to the damage of dopaminergic neurons, it also can affect metabolism and the morphology and function of peripheral organs, which provides a new theoretical basis for the pathogenesis of PD.

AIMTo study the sodium nitrite induced DNA mutation by convolution spectrometry (CS).

METHODSThe spectra of sodium nitrite-induced mutative calf thymus DNA was compared with ego criteria based on Spectra of the primary DNA within the wavelength range from 200 to 340 nm. Distilled water served as blank and normal saline served as negative control. Any difference was quantitatively expressed by differential value (delta) of convolution spectra. Near-infrared spectroscopy was employed as the reference method.

RESULTSThe differential value was positively correlated with the increasing time and concentration of sodium nitrite. delta values increased to 1.37%, 2.41% and 5.44% respectively within 2-hour's reaction between calf thymus DNA and 0.5, 0.05 and 0.005 microgram.mL-1 sodium nitrite, while on the contrary, changes could be hardly observed on the corresponding UV absorption spectra. The results were also confirmed by their corresponding near-infrared spectra.

CONCLUSIONThe delta values can be used to represent the compound's strength of mutagenesis. Every convolution procedure takes less than one minute, so CS provides a fast, simple and inexpensive alternative method to determine chemical or medicinal DNA mutation.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Bawei Xilei powder on CD3, CD4, CD8 T-lymphocytes in peripheral blood and colonic mucosa of rat with ulcerative colitis.

METHODSixty SD rats were randomly divided into 6 groups, normal group, model group, low, middle and high dosage Bawei Xilei powder group, Sulfasalazine group. Ulcerative colitis was induced by immunization with rabbit 's colonic mucous emulsified with completely Freund's adjuvant in all rats. Rats in low, middle and high dosage Bawei Xilei powder group were administered with 0.05, 0.1, 0.2 mg Bawei Xilei powder for 18 days by enema respectively. While rats in Sulfasalazine group were enema administered with 100 mg Sulfasalazine, and the rats in other group were administered with equal volume of saline enema as control. We analyzed expression of CD3, CD4, CD8 T-lymphocytes in peripheral blood by flow cytometry and in colonic mucous by immunohistochemistry.

RESULTIn peripheral blood, compared with normal group, in model group, the increased of CD4 T-lymphocytes and CD4 /CD8 ratio, the reduced of CD8 T-lymphocytes, these results were significant discrepancy (P < 0.01). Compared with model group, after treatment with Bawei Xilei powder, CD8 T-lymphocytes increased, but only high dosage Bawei Xilei powder group had discrepancy (P < 0.05). But low dosage Bawei Xilei powder group, other treatment groups' rats showed CD4/CD8 ratio were reduced significantly (P < 0.05). In colonic mucous, compared with normal group, in model group, Rats showed that expression of CD3, CD4 T-lymphocytes reduced and CD8 T-lymphocytes increased obviously (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). Compared with model group, expression of CD8 T-lymphocytes reduced significantly in all treatment groups (P < 0.05, P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONBawei Xilei powder may regulate their balance between T-lymphocytes subgroup, consequently relieve inflammatory injury in favor of ulcer reparation and tissue regeneration.

OBJECTIVEThe aim of this study was to explore the effect of celecoxib, a cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor, on induction of apoptosis and inhibition of angiogenesis in gastric cancer.

METHODSFifty nine gastric cancer patients were randomly divided into 2 groups: celecoxib group (n = 37) and control group (n = 22). The patients in the celecoxib group were treated orally with celecoxib 200 mg twice daily for 7 days before resection. The patients in the control group received surgical resection alone. Another group of 20 healthy subjects were recruited as normal control. The number of apoptotic tumor cells was measured by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferse-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL). The expression of COX-2, VEGF and the microvessel density (MVD) were evaluated by immunohistochemistry.

RESULTSThe TUNEL results showed an increase of apoptosis in the tumor cells after celecoxib treatment in comparison with that in the control group (7.1% +/- 1.0% vs. 6.2% +/- 0.9%, P < 0.05). The expression level of COX-2 and VEGF in the gastric cancer tissues was significantly decreased in the celecoxib group compared with those in the control group (P < 0.05). Furthermore, MVD was also significantly lower in the celecoxib group when compared with that in the control group (30.48 +/- 5.02 vs. 38.98 +/- 4.58, P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONOral intake of celecoxib can induce apoptosis and suppress angiogenesis in gastric cancer. It may become an effective agent in the treatment of gastric cancer.
