1.BLOCKING EFFECT OF SEA BUCKTHORN JUICE ON THE FORMATION OF N-NITROSODIMETHYLANIINE (NDMA) IN VIVO IN RAT
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
The formation of carcinomas of liver, lung and kidney in rats by feeding aminopyrine (AP) plus sodium nitrite (Na NO2) in diet was investigated. 72 young Wister rats were divided into A,B,C,D group. Group A was set as control receiving basal diet and tap water. Another 3 groups were given basal diet containing AP plus Na NO2 (2g/kg each). However, group B was given tap water, group C ascorbic acid solution, group D sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) juice for drinking. After 38 week's feeding, group B developed tumors in the livers (17/17), lungs (6/17) and kidneys (4/17) and the average life-span was 195 days, group D delayed the development of tumors and the average life-span was 270 days, significantly longer than that of group B (195 days, p

4.Screening of Sponge Stelletta tennui Associated Anti-microbial Bacteria and Their Synergistic Effects
Microbiology 1992;0(04):-
A total of 104 marine bacterial strains were isolated from Stelletta tennui around Sanya area of South China Sea by dilution-plate method and were screened for anti-microbial activity on Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureu, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Bacillus subtilis, Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans and Pacecilomyces variotii by agar diffusion, paper disc diffusion assay and cell concentration counts methods. It was found that 23 strains, which are 22.2% of the total isolated strains, have anti-microbial activities. Among the 23 strains, A05, A08, A72 and A75 were morphologically, physiologically and biochemically characterized and identified to be the genus Bacillus. At the same time, it was proved that there are positive and negative synergistic effects between or among active strains, e.g., as for A72-75 combination, an obvious enhanced anti-microbial activities on inhibiting Candida albicans and Pseudomomas fluorescens growth was observed than A72 or A75.

OBJECTIVE:To systematically review the clinical efficacy and safety of sirolimus(SRL)versus tacrolimus(Tac) for anti-rejection after renal transplantation, and provide evidence-based reference for clinical treatment. METHODS:Retrieved from PubMed,EMBase,Medline,Science Direct,Cochrane library,CJFD,VIP and Wanfang Database, randomized controlled tri-als(RCT)about SRL(test group)versus Tac(control group)for anti-rejection after renal transplantation were collected. Meta-anal-ysis was performed by using RevMan 5.2 software after data extraction and quality evaluation. RESULTS:Totally 5 RCTs were in-cluded,involving 594 patients. Results of Meta-analysis showed, there was no significant difference in the incidence of acute rejec-tions [RR=1.26,95%CI(0.82,1.93),P=0.30],graft loss rate [RR=0.91,95%CI(0.32,2.55),P=0.85] and mortality rate [RR=0.87,95%CI(0.34,2.22),P=0.77] in 2 groups;while the infection rate in test group was significantly lower than control group, the difference was statistically significant [RR=0.13,95%CI(0.04,0.40),P<0.001]. CONCLUSIONS:Compared with Tac,SRL has the same anti-rejection effect after renal transplantation, not changed graft loss rate and mortality rate, but reduced the infection rate with higher safety.

Neurology Asia 2012;17(4):353-356
Limb-shaking transient ischemic attack (TIA), a rare manifestation, is commonly caused by severe
stenosis or occlusion of an extracranial internal carotid artery. Such patients are usually treated with
surgical revascularization or anti-platelet therapy. We present a 56-year-old woman with 6 months’
episodic attacks starting with mouth skewed to the right and a sensation of ‘weakness’ involving
predominantly her left arm, and at times, also involved the left leg. This was immediately followed by
rhythmic jerky movements of the left arm and at times, also involved the left leg. Magnetic resonance
angiography revealed severe stenosis of M1 segment of the right middle cerebral artery. The patient’s
symptoms were signifi cantly improved by treatment with anti-platelet drugs and nimodipine.

Objective To investigate the expression of Fascin-1 protein in colorectal adenocarcinoma, and the relationship with its clinicopathologic features. Methods The expressions of Fascin-1 protein in colorectal adenocarcinoma tissues of 60 cases, colorectal adenoma tissues of 30 cases and normal mucosa tissues (4 cm distance to neoplasm) of 30 cases were detected by Microwave-EliVisionTM immunohistochemistry method, and the relationship between the expression of Fascin-1 protein in colorectal adenocarcinoma tissues and its clinicopathologic characteristics was analyzed. Results The expression of Fascin-1 protein was located in cytoplasm. The positive expression rates of Facsin-1 protein were 3.3% (1/30),30.0% (9/30) and 53.3% (32/60) in normal mucosa tissues, colorectal adenoma tissues and colorectal adenocarcinoma tissues, respectively. The expression of Fascin-1 was gradually increased in these three tissues, and there was statistical difference among the three tissues (P0.05).Conclusion The high expression of Fascin-1 protein is correlated to high invasion ability and lymph node metastasis, which can play as a sensitive index in predicting the invasion and metastasis of colorectal adenocarcinoma.
