OBJECTIVE:To discuss the quality problem commonly seen in the marketing and use of decoction pieces of traditional Chinese drugs and their quality control method. METHODS: We reviewed the pertinent Chinese journals and on which an aggregate analysis and evaluation was performed. RESUTLS: Drug name problem, slice cutting specification problem, the problem of the name of processed drugs in set recipe preparations and counterfeit problem etc were commonly seen in the marketing and use of decoction pieces of traditional Chinese drugs. CONCLUSION: To standardize drug name, drug processing and slice cutting specifications of Chinese crude drugs, and to prohibit counterfeits and conduct regular sampling inspection can effectively keep the quality of decoction pieces of traditional Chinese drug under control.

OBJECTIVETo observe the expression of peripheral blood CD4+ T lymphocyte apoptosis gene in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients with cold dampness type (CDT), and to explore its correlation with clinical indicators of RA.

METHODSSixteen RA patients with CDT (as the RA group) and 16 healthy subjects (as the normal control group) were recruited. CD4 T cell apoptosis rate was detected in the RA group and the normal control group using FCM. mRNA expressions of fas, fasL, caspase-3, caspase-8, bcl-2, and bax were detected using RT-PCR. Correlations between the expression of apoptosis gene and clinical activity indicators of RA (ESR, CRP, RF, CCP, integrals for Chinese medial symptoms, morning stiffness time, joint tenderness number, joint swelling number, DAS28-3) were analyzed.

RESULTSThe apoptosis rate of CD4+ T was significantly lower in the RA group than in the control group [(2. 6 +/- 0.9) % vs. (7.7 +/- 1.3) %, P < 0.01]. mRNA expression levels of fas, fasL, caspase-8, caspase-3, and bax mRNA of CD4+ T significantly decreased, but bcl-2 mRNA expression increased in the RA group (P < 0.01). The apoptosis rate of CD4+ T was negatively correlated with ESR (P < 0.05). The mRNA expression of caspase-8 was negatively correlated with joint swelling number (P < 0.05). The mRNA expression of bcl-2 was negatively correlated with integrals for Chinese medial-symptoms and joint function classification (P < 0.01, P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONApoptosis obstacle exists in peripheral blood CD4 +T lymphocyte of RA patients, and is closely related to disease activity.

Objective　To find out the infection of brucella among local people.Methods　To implement requirement of brucella surveillance program according to the prevention and cure of brucella document.From 1996-1998,continous surveillance of the group people aged 7～60 years was done.Results　Three years surveillance showed that in Yuli county the brucella average infection rate is 13.11%,the rate of contracting disease is 2.62%.Such disease happened among different profession and different kinds of people.It shows that the brucela infection has transferred and diffused from pasturing area to rural section and town.Conclusions　The ways is to adopt the available prevention and cure ways,to avoid the source of brucella infection,to strengthen the prevention and cure of the brucella infection among the animals,to improve people's protection consciousness,to reduce the harm that disease done to people.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the serum IgE with various postmortem intervals (PMI) in guinea pigs due to sudden death from anaphylactic shock and to explore the effect of refrigeration of corpse on serum IgE level and its application value in forensic medicine. METHODS: The animal death models of anaphylactic shock were established. The corpses were preserved at room temperature (20 °C ) for 6 h and then refrigerated at 4 °C. The serum was sampled at 6, 12, 24, 36 and 48 hours after death. The IgE level of serum was detected with ELISA. The control group was also established. RESULTS: The serum IgE level had significant. difference between the experimental group and the control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference among the experimental groups at 6, 12, 24, 36 and 48 hours post- mortem (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION If the corpses were placed in 4 °C conditions 6 hours after anaphylactic death, the serum IgE still shows a good marker within 48 h for forensic investigation.

Objective:To explore the relationship between marital satisfaction and character strengths in young people. Methods:An online survey was delivered to 307 married people (aged 2 1 -44 with years of mar-riage 0-20). Marital satisfaction was measured with the Evaluating and Nurturing Relationship Issues,Communica-tion,and Happiness (ENRICH,including intrapersonal,interpersonal,and external factors and marital satisfaction). Character strengths were measured with Values in Action Inventory of Strengths (VIA-IS,total 24 character strengths were classified into 4 high level character strength factors including heart-focus on self,heart-focus on oth-ers,mind-focus on self,mind-focus on others). Results:All 24 character strengths scores and 4 high level character strength factors scores were positively correlated with marital satisfaction score (r=0. 17 -0. 53,Ps<0. 01 ). Four high level character strength factors positively affected marital satisfaction through the mediation of 3 marital factors. Conclusion:The results indicate that the young people's marital satisfaction is closely related to their char-acter strengths,and character strengths affect marital satisfaction through 3 marital factors.

Objective To study the effect and its mechanism of coronary stenting on blood levels of P-selectin. Methods Thirty patients who received coronary stenting from September 2003 to September 2004 were included in the study and another twenty six patients who received coronary angiography during the same period were selected as controls. Blood samples were drawn at 1 h before and at 1 h, 4 h, 24 h, 48 h, 1 week after coronary stenting. Blood samples were taken at 1 h before and at 1 h, 4 h, 24 h after coronary angiograpy. Objective To observe the effects of mechanical ventilation with different tidal volumes (Vt) on the pulmonary surfactant in dogs during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and discuss the strategy of mechanical ventilation for CPR.Methods A total of 24 healthy,adult and mongrel canines were randomly (random number) divided into three groups,namely control group (A),low Vt group (B) and high Vt group (C).Canines without ventricular fibrillation in group A were not supported with mechanical ventilation,while canines in group B and group C were induced to get ventricular fibrillation (VF) with pacing catheter inserted through right external carotid vein into the right ventricle.CPR was initiated with mechanical ventilation with different Vt for 6 hours after ventricular fibrillation.The Vt set in group B was 6 ml/kg body weight and Vt set in group C was 20 ml/kg body weight.The arterial blood gas analyses were tested in different intervals.The levels of phosphatidylchline in bronchia alveolus lavage fluid (BALF) was assayed with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).The ratio of wet and dry weight and the morphological change scores of lung tissue were calculated.Results After ventricular fibrillation,pH,PaO2 in both groups B and C decreased and PaCO2 increased in comparison with those before VF (P ＜ 0.05),while pH,PaO2 and PaCO2 were improved after mechanical ventilation.These was statistical difference in PaCO2 between group B and group C 2 h after mechanical ventilation (P ＜ 0.05).There was difference in HCO3-between group B and group C 6 h after ROSC.The rate of successful restoration of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) and the 72 h survival rate were 75％ and 50％ respectively in group B,and 62.5％ and 40％ respectively in group C.There were no statistically different between two groups (P ＞ 0.05).The levels of phosphatidylchline in BALF of group B and C greatly decreased compared with the group A (All P ＜0.01),while phosphatidylcholine detected in the group C decreased much more than that in the group B (P ＜0.01).The W/D ratio and morphological change scores in the group C were higher than those in the group B (P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion Low tidal volume ventilation can reduce the loss of pulmonary surfactant and mitigate pulmonary injury.Therefore it may be a protective ventilation strategy after resuscitation.
