Objective To analyse the microvascular density(MVD) and CD44v6 expression in uterine cervical squamous carcinoma to evaluate their clinical significance. Methods Immunohistochemical staining (LSAB method) by using antibodies against CD 34 and CD44v6 was performed on archival specimens of 50 cases of human uterine cervical squamous carcinoma and 10 cases of normal cervical tissue. Results MVD was greater in metastatic tumors than that in nonmetastatic tumors and normal control. The expression of CD44v6 was higher in metastatic tumors than that in nonmetastatic tumors and normal control. MVD and CD44v6 expressions were significantly related to lymph node metastasis(P

OBJECTIVETo investigate the causes and managements of postoperative neurological complications in pedicle screw internal fixation for the treatment of degenerative scoliosis (DS).
METHODSThe data of 325 patients with degenerative scoliosis underwent pedicle screw internal fixation was retrospectively analyzed from February 2000 to April 2013. There were 22 patients with postoperative neurological complications. Of them, 16 cases complicated with numbness or pain of lower limb and 6 cases with obvious sensation and motor function decreasing in lower limb. The patients were treated with trophic nerve, dehydration, glucocorticoids, reoperation according to the causes of disease. Postoperative at 3, 6 months and 1 year later, according to VAS scoring and muscule power improvement, the recovery of nerve injury was assessed.
RESULTSPostoperative at 3,6 months and 1 year later,VAS scoring of 16 patients with slightly nerve injury was 2.81 +/- 0.66, 1.94 +/- 0.77, 0.63 +/- 0.62, respectively, and the symptoms had obviously improved than 1 week after operation (P < 0.05). Postoperative at 3 months, among 6 patients with severe nerve injury, muscule power improved in 2 cases and no-improved in 4 cases, with VAS scoring of 4.83 +/- 1.17; postoperative at 6 months, muscule power still had not improved in 3 cases, with VAS scoring of 4.17 +/- 0.75; both of the VAS scoring had not significant difference than 1 week after operation (P > 0.05). One year later, there was no muscule power improvement in 2 cases, with VAS scoring of 3.00 +/- 1.26, there was significant difference than 1 week after operation (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe causes of postoperative neurological complication in internal fixation for the treatment of dengenerative scoliosis includes: dragging and torsion injury of spinal marrow and nerve root because of excessive orthopedic of scoliosis; inderect injury of nerve root because of malposition of pedicle screw; nerve functional impairment caused by spinal cord ischemia. Avoiding the above factors could decrease the complication and early discovery and treatment could decrease the adverse outcomes.

Objective To exploer the function and underlying mechanism of Lunasin on sports articular cartilage injury. Methods Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group and model group;after injection molding for 3 times, the model rats were feed for 28 days. Then the model rats were divided into sham model group, 0.01, 0.05 and 0.1 mmol/L Lunasin treatment group respectively. After treatment, ELISA was used to analyze the production of IL-1β,IL-6,TNF-α,MMP-6 and MMP-8.SOD activity and iNOS were evaluated by their ELISA kit.Western blot was used to detect the expression of NRF2, Keap1, LC-3Ⅱ, Bax, Beclin1, p-AMPK, AMPK.Results Compared with control, the dose of IL-1β,IL-6,TNF-α,MMP-6 and MMP-8 in serum of model rats were significantly increased (P<0.05), however, after treatment with Lunasin for 1 month, these inflammatory factors were obviously reduced then that of model rats (P<0.05);Furthermore Lunasin treatment obvi-ously increased SOD activity,up-regulated NRF2 expression and down-regulated the generation of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) (P<0.05);Additionally, Lunasin can raise the expression of autophagy-related protein(beclin1 and LC-3Ⅱ), reduce the expression of apoptosis protein (Bax) in damaged articular cartilage.ConclusionsLunasin benefits the repair of damaged joints by reducing the production of inflammatory mediators, activating of oxidative stress system and autophagy pathway.

After Drainage implant surgery, erosion of conjunctiva or cornea over tube can occur about 5%in late postoperative period. Scleral allograft for exposed tube should be used to prevent secondary infection. We report three glaucoma patients treated graft with autologous buccal mucosal transplantation for recurrent tube exposure. First case was a 68-year-old male patient with neovascular glaucoma due to central retinal vein occlusion. Second case was a 37-year-old female patient with pseudophakic glaucoma. Third case was a 70-year-old male patient with diabetic neovascular glaucoma. Ahmed glaucoma valve implant surgeries were done for three patients. For tube exposure, we used autologous buccal mucosal transplantation. There was no recurrent erosion and intraocular pressure was maintained well more than 6 months of follow-up. In cases for tube exposure, we introduce that autologous buccal mucosal transplantation can be used to treat tube exposure.

In the present study, a new compound named 17-(6-cinnamamido-hexylamino-)-17-demethoxygeldanamycin (CDG) was obtained by introducing the cinnamic acid (CA) group into the 17-site of geldanamycin (GDM). The anti-cancer effects of CDG in vitro and in vivo were evaluated. MTT assay was used to examine the inhibitory effect of CDG on the proliferation of MCF-7, HepG2, H460 and SW1990 cells. Immunofluorescent staining flow cytometry combined with Annexin V-FITC/PI staining were used to detect apoptotic cells. Transwell assay was used to analyze the effect of CDG on cell invasion and migration ability. Western blotting was used to detect the expression levels of RAF-1, EGFR, AKT, CDK4 and HER-2 of MCF-7, HepG2 and H460 cells. The toxicities of CDG and GDM were evaluated in mice. Using the subcutaneously transplanted MCF-7 xenograft in nude mice, inhibitory effect was evaluated in vivo. The results showed that CDG inhibited the proliferation of cancer cells (IC50: 13.6-67.4 microg.mL-1). After exposure to CDG for 48 h, most cells presented typical morphologic changes of apoptosis such as chromatin condensation or shrunken nucleus. The rates of apoptosis of MCF-7, HepG2, H460 and SW1990 cells incubated with 10 microg.mL-1 CDG were 23.16%, 27.55%, 22.21%, 20.47%, respectively. A dose-dependent reduction of migration of four cell lines was found after exposure to CDG. The decreased levels of RAF-1, EGFR, AKT, CDK4 and HER-2 showed that CDG possessed HSP90 inhibitory effect. The result of animal toxicity test on the mice suggested that CDG had lower toxicity than GDM. Meanwhile, CDG inhibited the growth of MCF-7 xenografts of athymic mice.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1986;24(6):844-847
Kerion celsi is severe inflammatory type of tinea capitis. It occurs almost exclusively in pre-pubertal children. We report a case of Kerion celsi occuring in a 79-year-old woman. Culture of infected hair on Sabouraud glucose agar showed Microsporum canis Farnily history and fungus study suggested the importance of indirect route in Microsporum canis infection.
