Objective To evaluate the preoperative diagnosis and treatment of primary non-specific ureteritis,and to better understand this disease.Methods Three cases of primary non-specific ureteritis (1 man and 2 women)were reported.Their age was 28,38,68 years,respectively.One ease was found to have hydronephrosis on B-ultrasound at physical examination with no symptoms,and 2 had abdominal pain. The lesions were detected in lower part of the ureter in 2 cases,and in middle in I.The patients were diag- nosed preoperatively with combined use of MRU and ureteroscopy.Partial resection of the diseased part of the ureter was performed in all the cases.Results Pathological findings confirmed the diagnosis of non-spe- cific ureteritis.Microscopy showed necrotic tissue and inflammatory cell infiltration of ureteral mucosa,dilated and congested blood vessels,hypertrophic muscular layer,and proliferation of fibrous tissue.During the fol- low-up of 2 years,the patients had no symptoms and were free from hydronephrosis.Conclusions The eti- ology of primary non-specific ureteritis is unclear,and no typical symptoms can be found clinically.Combined use of MRU and ureteroscopy is helpful for definite diagnosis of the disease.Partial resection of the diseased part of the ureter has good results.

pH, affects of different alkaline materials KOH, K 2CO 3, NaOH, Na 2CO 3 on the growth, and NaCl, KCl tolerance of 29 isolates from the saline and alkaline soils in Xinjiang and Qinghai Provinces of China and 1 type strain were studied. Results showed that only a few alkaliphilic actinomycetes were Na +-obligately dependent, and K +-sensitive. Some alkaliphilic actinomycetes were CO 3 2- -sensitive, and NaCl, KCl could inhibit their growth. 4 kinds of alkaline materials had no affect on growth of alkaliphilic Nocardiopsis, and these strains showed high tolerance to NaCl, KCl. So it was presumed that only K + and CO 3 2- obligately dependent alkaliphilic Actinomycetes maybe exist in alkaline environments.

Background The visual system of animal have to optimally adjust in various environmental conditions in order to obtain stable and effective visual funetion.However,the color vision system of animals which encounter uncertainty of spectral signals should be plastic.Whether the densities of various cones and expression of opsins change with long-time spectral deprivation is unclear.Objective This study was to investigate the changes of cone density as well as the expression of corresponding opsin and mRNA following the long-term illumination of monochromatic light.Methods Thirty 3-day-old guinea pigs were randomized into 3 groups and exposed tO the 530 nm green light,400 nm purple light and white light for consecutive 8 weeks respectively.The flat-mounted retinal sample was prepared and divided into dorsal zone,ventral zone and mixed zone anatomically according to the distribution of difierent light-sensitive cone.The changes in density of cone cells sensitivited to different colored light were detected by single-1abel or double-label immunocytochemistry.The levels of opsin and its mRNA were determined using Western-blot and real-time PCR respectively.Results The density of green-sensitivity cones was significantly different in the dorsal zone of retina among green light group,purple light group and white light group (F=234.28,P<0.01).Compared with white light group,the density of green-sensitive cones in dorsal retina of green light group was obviously higher but that of purple light group wag evidently lower(q=389.68,P<0.01；q=67.11,P<0.01).No significant difference was found in the density of purple-sensitive cones in the ventral zone of retina among green light group,purple light group and white light group(F=3.14,P>0.05).The density of coexpression of the mixed cone cells was increased in green light group(q=157.55,P<0.01)but decreased in purple light roup (q=254.85,P<0.01)in comparison with white light group.The expression levels of green-opsin and green-opsin mRNA in green light group was significantly elevated(q=184.45,P<0.01；q=4.71,P<0.05),but those of purple light group were evidently declined(q=5.87,P<0.05；q=346.66,P<0.01)in comparison with white light group.There was no statistically significant differences were found in the expression of purple-opsin and its mRNA among all the groups(F=1.24,P>0.05；F=3.27,P>0.05).Conclusion After the exposure of long-time monochromatic light illumination,monochromatic cones density and its opsin in guinea pig occur the corresponding alteration to gain good spatial vision as a compensatory reaction.These outcomes imply that there is some plasticity during the development of color vision.The increase of green-sensitive cones might be from the differentiation of coexpression cones in transition region.

BACKGROUND: Hypothermia is associated with poor outcome in trauma patients; however, hemorrhagic shock (HS) model with anesthetized swine was different from that of clinical reality. To identify the effects of environmental hypothermia on HS, we investigated hemodynamics and oxygen dynamics in an unanesthetized swine model of HS under simulating hypothermia environment.METHODS: Totally 16 Bama pigs were randomly divided into ambient temperature group (group A) and low temperature group (group B), 8 pigs in each group. Venous blood (30 mL/kg) was continuously withdrawn for more than 15 minutes in conscious swine to establish a hemorrhagic shock model. Pulmonary arterial temperature (Tp), heart rate (HR), mean arterial pressure (MAP), pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP), pulmonary arterial wedge pressure (PAWP), central venous pressure (CVP), cardiac output (CO), hemoglobin (Hb), saturation of mixed venous blood (SvO2) and blood gas analysis were recorded at the baseline and different hemorrhagic shock time (HST). The whole body oxygen delivery indices, DO2I and VO2I, and the O2 extraction ratio (O2ER) were calculated.RESULTS: Core body temperature in group A decreased slightly after the hemorrhagic shock model was established, and environmental hypothermia decreased in core body temperature. The mortality rate was significantly higher in group B (50％) than in group A (0％). DO2I and VO2I decreased significantly after hemorrhage. No difference was found in hemodynamics, DO2I and VO2I between group A and group B, but the difference in pH, lactic acid and O2ER was significant between the two groups.CONCLUSION: Environmental hypothermia aggravated the disorder of oxygen metabolism after hemorrhagic shock, which was associated with poor prognosis.

OBJECTIVETo study on the anatomical layers and depth of Yifeng (TE 17) so as to provide anatomical basis for clinical treatment.

METHODSFifteen fresh adult corpse samples, 10 males and 5 females, were randomly taken for investigating the anatomical structures and nerve-blood vessel relationship at the acupoint area of Yifeng (TE 17) with layer anatomical method layer by layer.

RESULTSAnterior of Yifeng (TE 17) is posterior border of condylion, the part backward is the aponeurosis of sternocleidomastoid muscle and anterior border of papillary. Structures of this point are skin, subcutaneous fascia, the posterior border of parotid, venous plexus of infratemporal fossa in turn. And the superficial layer of the point are the branches of great auricular nerve and external jugular vein. The structures of the deep layer are occipital artery, branches of upper jaw's artery and vein, pterygoid venous plexus and facial nerve, mandibular nerve. The average dangerous depth is (35.52 +/- 6.31) mm.

CONCLUSIONThere are important nerves and blood vessels around Yifeng (TE 17), which should be noted in acupuncture.

Objective To understand the perceived stress of science and technology professionals (STPs) and its influencing factors and to provide reference for targeted mental health promotion. Methods Totally 1 730 STPs in Zhejiang Province were recuited by typical sampling method and assessed with Perceived Stress Questionnaire (PSQ) . Chi-squared automatic interaction detector (CHAID) with decision tree analysis was conducted to clarify the factors which influenced the scores of each dimension on PSQ. Results Totally 1 730 questionnaires were issued and 1 552 were valid (88.55%) . The perceived stress of male STPs was higher than that of female STPs (P＜0.05) . CHAID with decision tree analysis indicated that age was the primary factor for the perceived stress of housing (F=52.306, P＜0.001) , workload (F=17.814, P＜0.001) , career development (F=57.028, P＜0.001), household income (F=68.573, P＜0.001) and other personal problems (F=13.936, P=0.001) ;gender was the primary factor for the perceived stress of social understanding (F=9.321, P=0.002) and social environment (F=10.738, P=0.001) ; occupation was the primary factor for the perceived stress of supporting parents and children (F=19.810, P＜0.001) ; education background was the primary factor for the perceived stress of on the scores of interpersonal relationship (F=13.936, P=0.001) . Conclusion Age, gender, occupation, and education background are the influencing factors for perceived stress of STPs in Zhejiang Province.

Objective　To study the expression of p73 in human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and the relationship between p73 expression and clinico-pathological parameters. Methods　Expression of p7 3 gene was detected by RT-PCR in 32 human NSCLC tissues, tissues adjacent to ca ncer and non-cancer lung tissues. Results　p73 gene expression up-regulated substantially and detected in 87.5%(28/32) of human NSCLC tissues while expressed at low level in tissues adjacent to cancer and non-cancer lung tissues. Conclusion　Marked up-regulation of p73 gene expres sion is found in human NSCLC.

BACKGROUNDThe surgical outcomes of decompression for thoracic spinal stenosis (TSS) are unfavorable. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of intraoperative ultrasonography during "cave-in" 360° circumferential decompression surgery in patients with TSS.

METHODSThirteen patients with TSS underwent "cave-in" 360° circumferential decompression surgery between May 2010 and November 2010. Intraoperative ultrasonography was used after removal of the posterior wall of thoracic spinal canal to assess the morphologic restoration of the spinal cord and the anterior surface of the spinal canal. In seven patients, ultrasonography was used again after circumferential decompression to compare the cross-sectional area of the spinal cord before and after circumferential decompression.

RESULTSThe average period of follow-up was (12 ± 2) months (range 9 - 15 months). The Japanese Orthopedic Association score was significantly higher at the final follow-up (8.5 ± 2.1, range 3 - 10) than preoperatively (5.2 ± 1.1, range 3 - 7; P < 0.01). The cross-sectional area of the spinal cord was (30.8 ± 6.6) mm2 before and (53.6 ± 19.1) mm2 after circumferential decompression (P < 0.01). For five patients with TSS caused by thoracic disc herniation, the levels of circumferential decompression performed corresponded to those expected preoperatively. In contrast, for eight patients with TSS caused by ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament, on average 1.6 ± 0.9 fewer levels of circumferential decompression were performed than expected preoperatively.

CONCLUSIONS"Cave-in" 360° circumferential decompression is an effective therapeutic option for TSS. Intraoperative ultrasonographic evaluation may reduce the levels of circumferential decompression and ensure sufficient decompression, and increase the efficacy of this surgical technique.
