Objective To explore the relation between thyroid nodular and thyroid calcification .Methods The clinical data of 430 cases with nodular goiter admitted from January 2011 to December 2013 were reviewed. All cases were performed ultrasonography and pathologic examination .Results Of 430 cases, there was thyroid carcinoma in 49 cases(11.4%),including microcalcification in 30 cases(61.2%) and macrocalcification in 3 cases(6.1%);benign lesion in 381 cases(88.6%),including microcalcification in 24 cases(6.3%) and macrocalcification in 39 cases(10.2%).The difference was remarkable (P=0.000).There was remarkable difference in malignant calci-fied nodules ratio between the patients with microcalcification and macrocalcification (55.6%vs 7.1%,P=0.000), between the patients aged 45 years below and above(48.8%vs 22.6%,P=0.007),between the patients with solita-ry and multiple nodules(45.0%vs 16.7%,P=0.005).But there was no statistic difference in malignant calcified nodules ratio between the male and female groups (24.2% vs.39.7%,P=0.130).Conclusion Microcalcification is a highly specific sign to predict thyroid carcinoma in ultrasonography exam .Positive intervention will be performed immediately when calcification appears in thyroid nodules .

OBJECTIVE: To introduce the research progression of fMRI in brain functional localization in China or abroad in the recent 15 years, so as to further comprehend the effect and value of fMRI.DATA SOURCES: A computer-based online search of Medline database was undertaken to identify English articles about fMRI published from 1990 to 2005 with the keywords "functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), brain".STUDY SELECTION: The articles about experimental studies of fMRI articles irrelative to motor function, sensory function, hearing function, visuEnglish title.DATA EXTRACTION: Totally 6 144 relevant articles were collected, 18 articles were involved according to the inclusive criteria, and the others were excluded. cles about sensory function, including 1 about simple tactile stimulation,ry function, including 2 about simple visual stimulation, and 1 about binoction, including about hearing stimulation by various methods, and 1 about comparison between normal and abnormal subjects by the same stimulation.language function, 1 about visual language function, and 1 about listening basic principle.CONCLUSION: fMRI was more accurate, convenient and direct than other methods. It can not only show localization, size and dimension of the activated areas in different cerebral regions, but also show accurate anatomical position. Many aspects still need to be consummated, for example, exploration of the stimulating method, design of advanced hardware, post processing of the image and the effect of visualization. With the development of hardware, software and the endless endeavor of scientists, fMRI dooms to play an important role in illustrating the function of human brain.

BACKGROUND: Myelin sheath related inhibitors have been found to have great impact on microenvironment of axon regeneration. Traditional Chinese medicine is gradual y becoming a research hotspot on improving microenvironment of nerve regeneration with its advantage on multiple factors and targets.
OBJECTIVE: To clarify the effect of Jisuikang on Nogo-66 receptor NgR expression after spinal cord injury.
METHODS: 144 rats were randomly divided into six groups: sham surgery group, model group, prednisone group, high-, moderate- and low-dose Jisuikang groups (n=24). Animal models of spinal cord injury were established by the modified Allen’s method in the later five groups. Rats in the prednisone group were daily given 0.06 g/kg prednisone acetate by lavage, once a day. Rats in the high-, moderate- and low-dose Jisuikang groups were daily intragastrically given 12.5, 25 and 50 g/kg Jisuikang, once a day. Rats in the sham surgery and model groups were intragastrically daily given 20 mL of saline, once a day. Rats in each group were administered drugs until death.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Compared with the model group, NgR protein and mRNA expression levels were significantly lower in the prednisone, moderate-and low-dose Jisuikang groups. These data suggested that Jisuikang can improve the recovery of neurological function after spinal cord injury and effectively inhibit NgR protein expression at the site of injury so as to suppress the microenvironment factors harmful to nerve regeneration and further improve the microenvironment of nerve regeneration. Gene knockout by ZFNs (zinc-finger nucleases) is efficient and specific, and successfully applied in more than 10 organisms. Currently, it is unclear whether this technology can be used for knocking-out enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) gene in transgenic goats. Here we constructed and used ZFN-coding plasmids to produce genetic knockouts in the cells of cloned fetus produced from donor cells by microinjection of EGFP gene. Following introduced plasmids into caprine primary cultured fetus fibroblasts by electroporation, targeting of a transgene resulted in sequence mutation. Using the flow cytometric analysis, we confirmed the disappearance of EGFP expression in treated cells. Sequence from PCR products corresponding to targeted site showed that insertion of a G into the exon of EGFP resulted in frame shift mutation. These results suggest that ZFN-mediated gene targeting can apply to caprine fetus fibroblasts, which may open a unique avenue toward the creation of gene knockout goats combining with somatic cell nuclear transfer.

Objective To investigate the causes of pancreatic injury after autologous liver transplantation in rats. Methods Forty-two SD rats were randomly divided into post autologons liver transplantation 1-hour group, 6-hour group, 12-hour group, 24-hour group, 48-hour group, 72-hour group and sham group (6 rats per group). The plasma concentrations of amylase and lipase were measured to assess pancreatic exocrine function. The histomorphological changes of pancreatic tissue were studied under optical and electron microscopes. All data were analyzed via one-way ANOVA. Results The plasma concentrations of amylase and lipnse in post autologous liver transplantation 1-hour group were significantly higher than those in sham group, and they gradually increased as time passed by. The plasma concentrations of amylase and lipase reached peak at hour 48, after which they decreased gradually. There was a significant difference in the plasma concentration of amylase and lipase among the 7 groups (F = 538.622,489.417, P < 0.05). Acute edematous pancreatitis was observed 1 hour after autolognus liver transplantation, and acute hemorrhagic necrotic pancreatitis was observed 6 hours after transplantation. The degree of injury reached a peak 48 hours after transplantation. The number of mitochondria was increased, and endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus were swollen 1 hour after transplantation, and the area, perimeter, specific surface area and mean gray value of mitochondria were (312±40) mm~2, (80.3±3.8)mm, 0.332±0.039 and 113±11, respectively. As time passed by, the injury of the pancreatic cells was aggravated and autophagosomes were observed. The injury was most severe 48 hours after transplantation, and the area, perimeter, specific surface area and mean gray value of mitochondria were (466±7) mm~2, (108.8±3.7) mm, 0.298±0.009 and 195±12, respectively. There were significant differences in the specific surface area and mean gray value among all the groups (F = 9.322, 76.560, P < 0.05). Conclusion The pancreatic injury after autologous liver transplantation is related to the energy metabolism of the pancreatic cells induced by hypoxia.
