Objective To investigate the features of transcatheter selective hepatic arteriography and efficacy of embolization in hepatic hemangioma. Methods Twenty-six patients of hepatic hemangioma underwent transcatheter selective hepatic arteriography and embolization with Lipiodol-ultrafluida as well as Pingyangmycin, and were followed-up for 3 - 12 months after treatment. Results The popcorn-like tumor stain sign and early fill-in and persistant staining sign of hepatic arterial angiography were observed in all patients before embolization. After one time of embolization, the tumor size decreased more than 25% in 22 patients (84.62%), less than 25% in 4 patients. No severe complication occurred. Conclusion Transcatheter selective hepatic arteriography and embolization is a favorable method of diagnosis and treatment for hepatic hemangioma.

Objective The goal of this study is to understand the function of FKBP51 in resistant to high fat diet-induced obesity using FKBP51 knockout ( KO) mice and in vitro adipocyte differentiation. Methods Four-week old male FKBP51 KO and wild type ( WT) mice were fed separately with regular or high fat diet for 6 weeks. The body weight and food consumption were recorded weekly, the energy expenditure differences ( O2 consumption, CO2 production, respiratory exchange ratio, and heat production) of each group were monitored using the MM-100 metabolism cages system for 24 hours, then the liver from the above animals were stained with the Oil red-O to detect the lipid accumulation and the expression of metabolic genes. In addition, induction of adipocyte differentiation of immortalized MEF cells from WT and FKBP51 KO mice were used to observe the effect of FKBP51 gene on lipogenesis. Results Compared to WT mice, FKBP51 KO mice has less weight increment, and less lipid accumulation in the liver, but with no difference on food consumption during high-fat diet fed. Moreover, FKBP51 KO mice exhibited more O2 consumption, CO2 production and heated production under both RD and HF diet conditions. The PEPCK, G6Pase and UCP-1 genes up-regulation.In addition, lipid content was reduced in FKBP51 gene deficient MEF cells after adipocyte differentiation. Conclusions The FKBP51 gene plays an important role in high fat diet-induced obesity through the energy metabolism enhancement and lipogenesis inhibition.

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect and advantage of laparoscopic appendectomy by concealed three-ports technique. Methods The clinical data of 283 patients received concealed three-ports laparoscopic appendectomy were retrospectively reviewed. Results All the patients were cured after appendectomy, including 5 patients required conversion to operation(because of adhesions around the appendix and difficult to dissect). The surgical time ranged from 25 min to 110 min and the mean time was 38 min. After 8 ~ 12h the patients could move and the average length of postoperative stay was 5d (range 4 ~ 6d). 3 cases had postoperative wound infection. None occurred complications such as postoperative bleeding, abdominal abscess, intestinal fistula, adhesion ileus and incision hernia in 6 months on average (range 1 ~ 18 months)after operation. Conclusion Laparoscopic appendectomy by concealed three-ports technique was a safe and available method and had advantages such as convenience and safety, good cosmetic results, less injury, rapid recovery, less complications, cheap and easy.

Objective: To investigate the protective effect of rhubarb (大黄) combined with scopolamine on gastric and gut mucosal barrier in patients with severe trauma. Methods: Forty patients with severe trauma, injury severity score (ISS)≥25, were randomly divided into two groups (each n=20), namely common therapy group (CM group) and rhubarb (infused into stomach) combined with scopolamine group (RS group). In RS group, rhubarb combined with scopolamine were given just after the first time measuring gastrointramucosal pH (pHi), the other treatment was the same as CM group. The mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) were recorded, and pHi, lactic acid, interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-? (TNF-?) were measured on admission and at 24, 48 and 72 hours after admission. Results: The MAP, HR and pHi were uptrend in both groups. There were significant increase in MAP and pHi of RS group at 72 hours compared with those of CM group (both P

Objective To explore the influence of erythropoietin(EPO)on signal conduction mechanism of injury of renal tubular cells(HK-2) induced by postasphyxial-serum of neonates. Methods Heavy term asphyxia neonate were selected which amounted to 50 cases(28 male and 22 female)who had no obvious infectious diseases and immune suppression preparation, and their family consented to drawing their venous blood 5 mL after asphyxia 1 day,and put on centrifuge for 10 minutes with 2 500 r/min,then in aqueous bath for 30 minutes to inactivate complement at 56 ℃,and undertook filtration sterilization by micropore filter. The attacking concentration of serum was 200 mL/L which was prepared by adopting Dulbecco′s Modified Eagle Medium/Nutrient Mixture F12 culture fluid.HK-2 was used as the target cel1.Before attack, the experiment was designed as:blank control group, group of pretreatment with EPO(5?104 IU/L EPO medium preconditioned for 24 hours). After attack,at the 15 minutes,1 hour,2 hours, experiment was designed as:attacking control group and attacking group preconditioned with EPO at each time point. The nuclear translocation of nuclear factor ?B(NF-?B) was detected using indirect immunofluorescence. The amount of I-?B? change by NF-?B restraining was detected by Western blot, the results were scanned into computer, and image analysis software of Image-Pro Plus was used to analyze the strap. The strap integral optical density value represented the quantity of protein. Results Before attack, compared with bland control group, the nuclear translocation of NF-?B increased and amount of I-?B? decreased in group of pretreatment with EPO(Pa
