Chinese Journal of General Surgery 2001;0(10):-
Objective To study the clinicopathological features and treatment modality of patients with gastric remnant cancer after distal gastrectomy. Methods The data of 25 patients with gastric remnant cancer undergoing surgery during the recent 9 years were analyzed retrospectively. Results Patients with gastric remnant cancer showed a greater male predominance(5∶1). The mean interval between previous gastrectomy and diagnosis of gastric remnant cancer was 24.5 years, ranging from 12 to 35 years. The primary operation was Billroth Ⅱ reconstruction in 80% of the cases. R0 resection for gastric remnant cancer was performed in 14 cases,Palliative resection in 11 cases, and adjuvant chemotherapy in 18 cases. The 1-,3-and 5-year overall survival rate was 72.0%,56.0% and 36.0%,respectively,while the respective survival rate was 78.5%,71.4%,and 50.0% in radical surgery group, and 63.6%,36.3% and 18.1% in palliative surgery group(P

Chinese Journal of Blood Transfusion 1988;0(02):-
Objective To evaluate the significance of HCV-RNA testing of blood donors by using reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis, and investigate HCV “window period” in blood donors. Methods Test blood donors for HCV-RNA by RT-PCR, and some positive cases were followed up. Results Among 28098 routine test negative blood donors, 77 (0.27%) were HCV-RNA positive. Eleven of the 77 HCV-RNA positive donors were followed up and 9 of them were later found to have increased ALT and/or positive anti-HCV. The interval between positive HCV-RNA test and abnormal serological tests was at least 4 weeks. Conclusion RT-PCR can identify HCV infected donors at an early stage. This test should become a routine test for blood donors to further ensure blood safety.

Objective To investigate drug adverse reactions caused by Qingkailing injection,in order to provide a reference for clinical drug rational use.Method 2003-2008 Qingkailing Injection Case reports of adverse reactions collected from the Guizhou Province Monitoring Center Database was analysed descriptively.Result The occurrence of Qingkailing injection adverse reactions was not correlated to gender. The clinical manifestation was mainly for allergic reactions(305 cases, accounting for 35.59%)and systemic damage(417 cases, accounting for 48.66%).There were 652 cases adverse reactions occurred in 30min accounting for 76.08%.Conclusion Clinical physicians, pharmacists should attach importance to Qingkailing injection adverse reactions, persist in rational drug use and focus on the observation, after druguse.

Objective To investigate the influence of CO_2 pneumoperitoneum on intestinal mucosa permeability in rats with liver cirrhosis. Methods Fifty rats were randomly divided into following groups: control group(n=5),cirrhosis group(n=5) and pneumoperitoneum group(n=40);the pneumoperitoneum group was further divided into 8 mm Hg group(n=20) and 13 mm Hg group(n=20).Four time points were chosen, including 0.5,2,6,and 12 hours after the end of pneumoperitoneum. After rat models with cirrhosis were established successfully, the abdominal cavity was insufflated with CO_2 and maintained under the pressures of 8 mm Hg and 13 mm Hg respectively for two hours. The portal venous blood was collected and the levels of D-lactic acid and endotoxin were measured. Results The levels of endotoxin and D-lactic acid in cirrhosis group were much higher than those of control group(P0.05).Conclusion The intestinal mucosa permeability is increased in rats with liver cirrhosis. It can be further increased under CO_2 pneumoperitoneum with certain pressure and time and in a pressure-dependent manner. The permeability can decrease after removal of pneumoperitoneum.

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2008;6(1):32-6
OBJECTIVE: To explore the correlations between symptom-based principal factors of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and the effect of traditional Chinese medicine or Western medicine on RA after factor analysis of RA symptoms. METHODS: Four hundred and thirteen RA patients from 9 clinical centers were included in the clinical trial. They were randomly divided into Western medicine (WM) treated group with 204 cases and traditional Chinese medicine (CM) treated group with 209 cases. A complete physical examination and 18 common clinical manifestations were recorded before the randomization and after the treatment. The WM therapy included voltaren extended action tablet, methotrexate and sulfasalazine. The CM therapy included glucosidorum Tripterygll totorum tablet and Yishen Juanbi Tablet. The American College of Rheumatology 20 (ACR20) was used for efficacy evaluation. All data were analyzed on SAS 8.2 statistical package. Eighteen symptoms in the RA patients were analyzed by factor analysis and the relationships between the factors and effects were analyzed with Chi-Square test. RESULTS: Four principal factors were obtained from the analysis results of the 18 symptoms. The factors could represent the symptoms related to joints, cold-syndrome, deficiency syndrome and heat-syndrome in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), respectively. The effect of WM therapy was better than CM therapy. After 12 weeks of treatment, the effect of CM on patients without deficiency-syndrome was better than the patients with deficiency-syndrome. After 24 weeks of treatment, WM therapy showed better effect on patients with cold syndrome than patients without cold syndrome. CONCLUSION: The results based on the factor analysis of RA symptoms are similar to the results of syndrome differentiation of TCM, and the factor-related different categories of symptoms are associated with the curative effect, thus further research on the symptoms is necessary.

Objective To investigate the effects of disulfiram (DS) combined with Cu on the human Burkitt lymphoma cell xenografts in nude mice. Methods Burkitt lymphoma xenograft was established by subcutaneous injection of Raji cell into nude mice after 2 Gy whole body X-irradiation (1×107 Raji cells were resuspended in 200 μl saline).18 bearing tumor mice were randomly divided into control group,DS group and DS/Cu group.During the experiment, the effects of DS/Cu on the nude mice with tumors were examined, including the tumor volumes, weights and the growth curves of xenograft tumor.Histopathological examination of tumor tissue was observed with optical microscape. The protein expression levels of p-JNK and c-jun were also detected by Western blot. Results Subsequent tumor size and weight in DS or DS/Cu-treated animals were (67.71±2.15) mm3,(33.35±7.74) mm3 and (43.35±4.22) mg,(18.05±2.88) mg.One-way ANOVA analysis indicated that the tumor size and weight in DS or DS/Cu-treated animals were reduced significantly relative to tumors in vehicle-treated animals (F =27.579,P =0.000;F =16.369,P =0.000).Furthermore,multiple comparisons revealed that the DS or DS/Cu-treated animals had significantly reduced tumor size and weight compared with control animals (all P < 0.05).There were significant differences in tumor size and weight between DS or DS/Cu-treated animals (both P < 0.05).Tumor inhibition rates in DS or DS/Cu group were 63.48 % and 80.24 %,respectively. An increase of apoptosis changes in the xenograft tumor cells in DS or DS/Cu treated mice were more significant.Westem blot showed that the p-JNK and c-jun protein expressions in the tumors were improved after the DS or DS/Cu treatment, more obvious in DS/Cu treatment. Conclusion DS/Cu can inhibit the growth of xenografts, and one possible mechanism may involve the regulation of JNK signal pathway.
