Objective:To test the validity of the computer-added measure system in pre-clinical practice training of root canal treatment with resin transparent tooth models.Methods:Two groups of students prepared resin transparent tooth models in three ways.Transparent root canal preparation was conducted by the first group, blind root canal preparation and blind followed by transparent preparation were conducted by the second group. Resin transparent tooth models were scanned frontally and laterally before and after the preparation. The computer-added measure system was used to evaluate the effect of instrumentation. Objective To explore the relationship between vascular lesions and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo in the elderly.Methods 74 patients aged 60 years and over with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo in Huanhu Hospital and 80 subjects without vertigo history in the medical examination center of the same hospital were randomly divided into the case group and the control group,respectively.The carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and plaque in the carotid artery were detected using high-resolution color duplex ultrasound for evaluating large vascular lesions.At the same time,T1WI,T2WI and diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) were performed with high-field 3.0 T MRI scanner as the detection index of small vascular lesions to compare the difference in severity of lacunar infarction,leukoaraiosis and micro hemorrhage between the two groups.Both indexes were used together to compare the overall difference in the intracranial and extracranial vascular lesions between the two groups.Results Between the case group and the control group,there were significant differences in the CIMT [(0.96±0.21) mm vs.(0.84±0.26) mm,t=3.136,P＜0.05],the detection rate of plaque (89.2％ vs.72.5％,x2 =5.803,P＜0.05),the number of lacunar infarction [(3.48± 1.67) vs.(2.34± 2.06),t=1.994,P＜0.05] and the score of white matter [(4.77±2.15) vs.(3.95±2.04),t=2.430,P＜0.05].There was no significant difference in the positive detection rate of the cerebral microbleeds in the case group and control group (22.9％ vs.17.5％,x2=0.4264,P＞0.05).Conclusions There is a relationship between the benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and intracranial or extracranial vascular lesions in the elderly.Vascular factor may play an important role in the pathogenesis of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.Not only the atherosclerosis of large and small arteries but also the microcirculation disturbance may be partly attributed to the benign paroxysmal positional vertigo in the elderly.

OBJECTIVETo explore the regulatory effect of Suifukang (SFK), a compound Chinese patent drug on the change of free radical in tissue of spinal cord and blood caused by experimental spinal injury.

METHODSSeventy male adult SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups, the SFK group (n = 20), the hormone group (n = 20), the control group (n = 20) and the normal group (n = 10). Rats in the former three groups were made into the right hemitransected spinal cord (T12) injury. SFK were given to the rats in the SFK group 3 days before and 2 hrs after modeling via gastrogavage, saline was given to rats in the control group at the same time. As for the rats in the hormone group, methyl-prednisolone 30 mg/kg was given once immediately by peritoneal injection. The rats were sacrificed in two batches (10 of each group in each batch) at 8 hrs and 24 hrs after modeling to obtain the serum and injured spinal cord tissue for determining superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) content.

RESULTS(1) As compared with the normal group, SOD activity in serum and spinal tissue of the control group was lower significantly both at 8 hrs and 24 hrs after modeling, but the changes of SOD activity in the SFK and the hormone group were insignificant; (2) Content of MDA in serum and spinal tissue of rats elevated after modeling, which in the control group at 8 hrs after modeling were higher than that in the normal group, also higher than that in the SFK group and the hormone group; but at 24 hrs after modeling, it lowered significantly in both treated groups. The changes of MDA content in serum were similar to those in the spinal tissue.

CONCLUSIONSFK could effectively eliminate the excessive free radical in serum and injured spinal tissue, and raise the capability of antioxidation of organism.

Objective To quantify the neurons in the temporal lobe white matter and find their distribution in the neurologically normal individuals.Methods The temporal lobe at the level of exterior geniculata body from brain autopsy samples of 14 neurologically normal individuals were made into large slice followed by quantitative analysis of neuron density,cell density,ratio and diameter of the neuronal nuclear and the distribution of white matter neurons using two-dimensional cell counting methods.Results With the depth of the white matter of the temporal lobe increasing,the neuron density decreased from 29.26 neurons/ mm~2 to 7.32 neurons/mm~2 and 0.00 neurons/mm~2,respectively;the cell density,neuron ratio and diameter of the neuronal nuclei all decreased.Conclusion There are neurons in the temporal lobe white matter of neurologically normal individuals,whose distribution of neurons is related to the depth of white matter.

Objective To explore the incidence and imageological features of patients with the hippocampal sclerosis-associated medial temporal lobe epilepsy. Methods Seventy-eight patients with the medial temporal lobe epi?lepsy were recruited from our hospital during February 2012 to December 2013. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and resonance spectroscopy (MRS) analysis were conducted in patients with with the hippocampal sclerosis-associated medial temporal lobe epilepsy, patients with epilepsy without the medial temporal lobe diseases and healthy controls. Results The incidence of hippocampal sclerosis was 58.97%among patients with medial temporal lobe epilepsy which were significantly higher compared with either healthy control group or patients with epilepsy without the medial tempo?ral lobe diseases. The average hippocampal volume of the medial temporal lobe epilepsy group(2305.68±814.61 mm3、2456.71±743. 60 mm3)was significantly smaller compared with either healthy controls or patients with epilepsy without the medial temporal lobe diseases. MRI revealed increased T2WI signal and hippocampal atrophy in 74.55%of patients with hippocampal sclerosis-associated medial temporal lobe epilepsy. Sclerosis was detected on the left side (52.17%) and bilateral hippocampus (19.57%). MRS showed that NAA/(Cr ± Cho) significantly reduced (0.58± 0.19) in the hip?pocampal sclerosis. Conclusions Hippocampal sclerosis may be the main imaging features of the medial temporal lobe epilepsy which are characterized by the hippocampal atrophy and high T2WI signal.

Objective:To explore the efifcacy and safety for radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) of left bundle branch guided by left bundle potential (LBP), X-ray image with EnSiteNavX System in canine model.
Methods:The RFCA of left bundle branch was conducted in 13 dogs. A mapping catheter was positioned in right atrium to record right-sided His-bundle (R-His) potential, and an ablation catheter via right femoral artery was retrograded to left ventriclefor LBP mapping and ablation. Meanwhile, EnSiteNavX System was used to identify R-His, L-His and LBP at the same time. The potential characteristics in dogs with successful ablation were observed, the PR interval, QRS shape and time limit, AH interval, HV interval, the A/V electro-gram ratio in ablationcatheter at before and after ablation were recorded. The procedural time and X-ray exposure time between LBP with X-ray image method and LBP, X-ray image with EnSiteNavX System method were compared.
Results: There were 9/13 dogs received successful left bundle branch ablation, 3 dogs failed and 1 suffered from complete A-V block. At the successful ablation target site, the LBP-V was (17.8 ± 2.6) ms with the range of (13-21) ms, and the A/V electro-gram ratio<1/10. The procedural time and X-ray expose time were signiifcantly decreased in LBP, X-ray image with EnSiteNavX System method than those in LBP with X-ray image method P=0.007 and P<0.001.
Conclusion:Under the LBP, X-ray image with EnSiteNavX System guidance method, left bundle branch could be safely and effectively ablated to establish left bundle branch block (LBBB) model in experimental canine.

Objective To explore the effect of nuclear factor-kappaB(NF-?B) on cardiac myocyte apoptosis and understand the molecular mechanism of decrease of heart function in septic shock rats.Methods Twenty Wistar rats were randomly divided into the septic shock group and the normal control group.The septic shock group(n=10) were fixed with anaesthesia and made into 1.5 cm slices just along the abdomen midline.Then the roots of appendices were returned to the belly cavity after being ligated and punctured 4 times with the No.14 pinhead.After that,the slices were sewn up layer by layer.After 12 hours,the rats were all sacrificed,the blood taken and the serum separated.In the end,the heart specimens of the septic shock group were set aside.Meanwhile,the normal control group were dealt with in the same way except that they were not subjected to cecal ligation and puncture.Then NF-?B protein levels in cardiac tissue and the index of cardiac myocyte apoptosis were measured.Results NF-?B protein levels in the septic shock group(9 cases were strong masculine gender,1 case was middle masculine gender)elevated significantly compared with the normal control group(8 cases were negative gender,2 cases were weak masculine gender) in cardiac tissue(P

T mutation was detected in the 4th propositus at the 9th intron,but any COL1A1 or COL1A2 gene mutation was detected in the third propositus and the other members in the former families.Conclusions The genetic mutation of COL1A1 may result in OI in China,but other mutations may also exist.Moreover,the phenotype was influenced not only by OI genotype,but also by the genetic background,environment and other factors.
