Hidradenitis suppurativa is a rare disease which represents a chronic suppurative and scarring process, affecting the apocrine glands due to persistent bacterial infection and apocrine dysfunction. We have experienced a case of hidradenitis suppurativa, 22-year-old female which involved both axillary region. Diagnosis was established by clinical characteristicsymptoms, histopathological findings and bacteriological examinations.

Arteriovenous malformation of the pancreas is a rare disease, and it is manifested by gastrointestinal bleeding and/or portal hypertension. Surgery is definitely the treatment of choice at the early stage of the disease, and a transcatheter embolization is an alternative treatment for the control of bleeding and if the lesion is surgically inaccessible. We describe a 62-year-old man who had refractory ascites and esophageal variceal bleeding caused by a pancreatic arteriovenous malformation associated with portal hypertension; this was successfully treated by a transjugular intrahepatic portosytemic shunt.

The incidence of pediatric dermatoses shows a tendency to increase inspite of medical development and environmental improvement. Pediatric dermatoses must be regarded as separate disease entities because child skin differs from adult skin in its structures and functions. Also to be noted are the special, characteristics of the child skin during the growth period. 11,447 childhood patients who had visited the demantologic department of Soon Chun Hyang Hospital, from 1975 to 1980, were analysed. in order to compile the current statistics on the tendencies of pediatric skin dises in Korea. The results are summarized as follows; l. Among the 34, 472 outpatients, 11, 447 were pediatric patients, comprising 33. 2% of the total figure. 2. In order of frequency, the most common dermatoses were atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, impetigo contagiosum, molluscum contagiosum, dermatophytosis, scabies, folliculitis, urticaria, varicella and insect bite. 3. The majority of childhood derrnatitis(65.5%) were shown to develop in the preschool age group, with the peak incidence falling in the 0-3 year age group (41.4%) 4. In analysis of the male: female frequency ratio, the dermatoses which showed a greater male frequency ratio were atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, impetigo contagiosum, scabies, insect bite, urticaria and miliaria. The dermatoses in which the female ratio was greater were seborrheic dermatitis, acne and hemangioma.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is a self-limited infection of the skin caused by Leishmania tropica, a protozoan parasite transmitted by Phlebotomus sandfly. This disease is endemic in tropical and subtropical zone, but recently many cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis were reported in Korean among the peoples who had been worked in the Middle East. We experienced five cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis developed in Korean who had been worked in Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Skin lesions of various sized, central ulcerated and marginal elevated, with serosanguinous discharge and some crust were scattered on exposed area, especially both extremities. Histopathologic findings showed hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, pseudoepitheliomatous hyperplasia, dermal infiltration of histiocytes, lymphocytes, plasma cells and neutrophils, and numerous Leishman-Donovan bodies in and around histiocytes. About 1-4 months treatment with trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and metronidazole, two cases were healed with hyperpigmented scar and two cases were improved but one case was not responded.

A rare case of a metastatic lesion of breast carcinoma in the talus of the left foot, approximately 14 months after simple mastectomy including resection of axillary lymph node is reported. The operation was undertaken 14 months prior to this admission and gradual onset of pain, swelling and redness were noticed about the left ankle. X-ray showed irregular osteolytic changes on the superolateral aspect of the body and the superior aspect of the neck of the left talus without periosteal reaction, Metastasis was confirmed by biopsy and pathological findings were also submitted.

Analyses were done on one hudred and twenty caaes of bleeding gastric ulcers diagnosed by emergency endoscopy for the past five years. The reaults are as the following: Much more cases were found in male than female and the most prevalent age group was 6th decade. The body of stomach along the lesser curvature was the most common bleeding site. No age related difference was noted in bleeding sites. Most common type of ulcer was in the round and shallow form. Since the introduction of MRI, the arachnoiditis could easily haute been diagnosed by confirming the abnormal distribution of the roots in the dural sac. But the arachnoiditis-like pattern of nerve root distribution in a degenerative disc disease has been regarded as a an incorrect diagnosis of arachnoiditis. The arachnoiditis has been one of the most serious complication in the failed back surgery syndrome. MR images of 32 patients with acute or chronic radicular pain syndrome were investigated by a radiologist and a orthopedc surgeon. 17 patients had lumbar disc herniation; 13 patients, pure spinal stenosis; 2 patients, spondylolisthesis. The discriminant analysis was used to calculate the cutting point of clumping for the abnormal nerve root distribution and to assess the relationship between the arachnoiditis-like pattern of nerve root distribution and other factors According to the result of calculation, the cutting point of clumping In spinal stenosis was 9mm and that in a disc herniation was 6mm. Central clumping of nerve roots in the durn is considered as a characteristic finding at the constricted level of the lumbar degenerative disease. However, the appearance is not a differentiating factor between the adhesive arachnoiditis and constriction in the lumbar degenerative disease. Clinically, the adhesive arachnoiditis should be suspected in the lumbar degenerative disease with the nerve root clumping at multiple level, not associated with remarkable constriction of spinal canal. In the disc herniation with their sagittal diameter over 6mm, the clumping seems to imply the possibility of association with adhesive arachnoiditis.

Giant cell tumor of tendon sheath(GCTTS) is a benign mesenchymal lesion composed of cytologically bland mononuclear cells admixed with multinucleated giant cells. Our report describes the clinical and pathologic features of a 36-year-old female's tumor with a two years history over the lateral side of the left little finger, Especially, we could observe the characteristic thre types of cells in an electromicroscopic study, histiocyte-like cells, fibroblast-like cells and multinucleated giant cells. In lmmunohistochemical studies, we demonstrated that the tumor cells of GCTTS exhibit a phenotype consistent with histiocyte differentiated to Langerhan's cell.
