Mechanically the symphysis pubis serves to anchor the ends of the two weight bearing arches of the pubis-the femorosacral and ischiosacral arches. Under normal conditions it has been found to exceedingly resistant to separation. Sacroiliac strain is also uncommon because the sacroiliac ligaments are very strong and the movement which produce a torsion strain upon the joint is more likely to cause a strain of thinner capsular ligaments surrounding the small lumbosacral joints. We experienced a case of separation of the symphysis pubis and 2 cases of sacroiliac strain during and after spontaneous labor.

The four tetrameric STRs loci(HUMvWA31, HUMTHO1, HUMF13A1, HUMFES/FPS) were studied to confirm the allele frequency distribution and to see whether these results can be used for identity and paternity testing in a population o Koreans using multiplex PCR and laser-fluorescence detection method. In the Korean population (n=227), 8 alleles with their relative frequency range of 0.002-0.249 are detected in the HUMvWA31 locus, 6 alleles with those of 0.007-0.500 in 6 alleles with those of 0.004-0.434 in the HUMFES/FPS locus. The highest observed heterozygosity is found at the locus HUMvWA31(0.8077), with those of the lociively. All loci meet Hardy-Weinberg expectations ; there are good agreements between observed and expected heterozygosity, number of observed genotypes. Pairwise comparisons between loci show allelic independence for all the 4 loci. The power of discrimination (PD) determined for the locus HUMvWA31 is 0.933, that for the HUMTHO1 is 0.836, 0.798 for HUMF13A1, and 0.844 for the HUMFES/FPS ; the combined power of discrimination for the quadruplex is 0.9997. Thus, these allelic frequency distribution can be used to construct the database of the multiplex PCR-based DNA profile in the Korean population. The calculated parameter, "combined power of discrimination(PD)" show the informativeness of these loci for the determination of identity and relatedness of individuals.

There has been increased attention given to the radial tunnel syndrome since Roles and Maudsley first described it in 1972. The occurance of radial tunnel syndrome is due to the following four anatomical causes: the fibrous bands in front of the "radial head, the radial recurrent fan" of vessels, and the tendinous margins of extensor carpi radialis brevis and of the arcade of Frohse. In these cases, the progressive paralysis of the posterior interosseous nerve was caused by the arcade of Frohse and the radial recurrent artery. The results of splitting the arcade of Frohse and dividing the radial recurrent artery have been sufficiently good in all 3 cases.

The treatment of extensive soft tissue injury of the lower extremities is known to be one difficulty in the field of orthopedic surgery. At present, reconstructive surgery with large cutaneous flaps is being employed, and the authors present 2 cases of a combination of flaps for extensive soft tissue injury of the lower extremity at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery of Severance Hospital during a 5 months period from June, 1983 to November, 1983. The results of the study are as follows: 1. A one-stage reconstruction of extensive soft tissue injury was done with a combination of a scapular and a latissimus dorsi flap. 2. There was no limitation of motion of the shoulder in spite of the excision of the scapular and the latissimus dorsi flaps around the axillary area. 3. The primary closure of the donor flap sites was feasible. 4. The reconstructive surgery of the extensive soft tissue injury using the above combination of the scapular and latissimus dorsi flaps can be used without restriction as to the age of the patient.

We report a case of neuroblastoma with multiple skin metastases as a chief complaint in a 2-month-old girl. the skin lesions were rnultiple, pea-sized, bluish, nontender, moable subcutaneous nodules on abdomen, back and scalp. Histopathology showed small round or poly gonal tumor cells which have deeply stained, basophilic, hyperchromatic nuclei with some mitoses. Th.se tumor cells showed clumping tendency which is one of early menifestations of rosette formation. Immunohistochemically positive reaction was demonstrated by anti-NSE(neuron specific enolase) antilody but negative reaction by anti-NFP (neurofilament proteiin ) antibody. She has been succesfully treated with combined chemotherapy for 10 months without relapse.

PURPOSE: To report a case of Alcaligenes xylosoxidans endophthalmitis following cataract extraction and IOL implantation. In Korea, Alcaligenes xylosoxidans endophthalmitis has not been reported. METHODS: The patient was transferred for endophthalmitis at 6 days after cataract extraction and IOL implantation. Alcaligenes xylosoxidans was founded in culture. We performed pars plana vitrectomy with removal of IOL and lens capsule, and then we supplied systemic IV antibiotics with fortified topical antibiotics. RESULTS: Sixty-four days after vitrectomy, corrected visual acuity was 1.0 and anterior segment showed no inflammatory cell.
