2.Effects of exercise with different intensity on glucose transport protein contents in the skeletal muscle of diabetes rats
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2007;0(20):-
BACKGROUND: Exercise affects glucose transport 4(Glut4) protein levels in the skeletal muscle, but different intensions of exercise effects are unknown to people. OBJECTIVE: To explore effects of different intensity exercise on Glut4 protein expression in the skeletal muscle of rats. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The randomized control animal experiment was performed at the Central Laboratory of Liaoning Normal University from September to October 2007. MATERIALS: A total of 60 healthy SD rats weighing (200?16) g of both genders were used in the following study. METHODS: Rat models of diabetes mellitus were created and divided into six groups: a normal control group, a diabetes mellitus control group and a diabetes mellitus group including 15 m/min group, 20 m/min group, 25 m/min group and 30 m/min group. Each group consisted of 10 rats. The exercise groups did the running exercise each day for 50 minutes, 6 days in a week, lasting for 6 weeks. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Western bolt analysis was used to determine Glut4 protein on cell membrane of the skeletal muscle. Different intensions of exercise effects on body weight, blood glucose and insulin levels were observed in rats from each group. RESULTS: Compared with the diabetes mellitus control group, Glut4 protein contents enhanced up to 44.2% and 48% (P
4.Operative Treatment with Intramedullary Fibular Strut Allograft for Osteoporotic Proximal Humerus Fracture.
Clinics in Shoulder and Elbow 2017;20(2):95-99
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical and radiological outcomes of locking plate fixation with fibular strut allograft to manage unstable osteoporotic proximal humerus fractures. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 15 patients who underwent open reduction and locking plate fixation with fibular strut allograft for osteoporotic proximal humerus fracture between July 2011 and June 2015. For functional evaluation, we evaluated visual analogue scale (VAS) pain score, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) shoulder score, and active range of motion. For radiological evaluation, shoulder true anteroposterior (AP) and AP in 20° external rotation, as well as the axillary view were taken at two weeks, six weeks, three months, six months, and one year. And the neck-shaft angle was measured on the AP view in 20° external rotation view. RESULTS: At the one-year follow-up, mean VAS pain score and all shoulder scores, including ASES score and UCLA shoulder score, exhibited satisfactory clinical outcomes. All patients obtained bone union between three and six months post-procedure. Moreover, the mean immediate postoperative neck-shaft angle was 138°± 4°, and at one-year follow-up, the neck shaft angle was 137°± 5°. There was no significant difference between the preoperative and postoperative values (p=0.105). CONCLUSIONS: For the unstable two-part and three-part osteoporotic proximal humerus fractures with medial calcar comminution, the use of fibular strut allograft with locking plate fixation was effective in maintaining the initial status of reduction and exhibiting the satisfactory functional and radiological outcomes.
5.Study about the Natural Growth Rate of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Using Follow-up CT Examinations(1):Preliminary Report.
Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1994;30(4):711-716
PURPOSE: To make the guideline for diagnosis and treatment policy of various hepatocytic nodular lesions detected during the imaging diagnosis of cirrhotic liver and to get our own data about hepatocellular carcinoma based on Korean patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 40 confirmed hepatocellular carcinomas foilwed up with CT more than once without any treatment. Total numbers of follow-up were 50. First, we input the data of initial and follow-up diameter visible on CT images and follow-up interval of each mass to the computer, and got the mean growth rate curve and growth curve of hepatocelluiar carcinoma using a program of Quattro-pro, one of the spreadsheet. And then the doubling time was also calculated using Schwarz's formula. RESULTS: According to the growth rate curve, the tumor under 3 cm in diameter showed relatively show growing pattern but the one above 3 cm in diameter showed rapid growing pattern. Mean growth curve also showed rapid turning point around 3 cm. Overall mean doubling time was 82 days(mean +/- SD = 82.3 +/- 56.2): 119 days in the tumors smaller than 30 mm in diameter, 69 days larger than 30 mm in diameter. CONCLUSION: Hepatocellular carcinoma'is relatively slowly growing tumor and shows rapid increase of its growth rate when it is larger than 30 mm in diameter as a turning point. We think that this fact could make an important role to determine the treatment policy of various hepatocytic nodular lesions suspecting hepatocellular carcinoma.

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2009;31(3):244-245
Objective To analyze the rented factors leading to successful treatment of ectopic pregnancy by conservative therapy and to explore importance of this therapy. Methods 152 patients with ectopic pregnancy performed with conservative treatment were randomly recruited into a methotrexate plus Chinese medicine group, a 5-fluorouracil plus Chinese medicine group and a exclusive Chinese medicine group. The curative rate and side effect were observed in groups, and the relation between the treatment condition and the curative rate was analyzed. Results There was no difference in curative rate among groups, while the side effect in the exclusive Chinese medicine group was lower than other groups. It showed high curative rate in patients with two or more conditions of having mass less than 3 cm, the level of bloodβ-hCG less than 1000 IU/L, and the depth of posterior fomix effusion less than 1 cm. Conclusion Among the treatments of ectopic pregnancy, Chinese medicine has fewer side effects. Fully evaluation on the treatment condition can improve the curative rate.

OBJECTIVE:To discuss the protection effects of different dosage of reduced glutathione on liver function in acute myeloid leukemia(AML) patients undergoing chemotherapy.METHODS:In prospective study,72 AML patients were divided into group A and group B according to the dosage of reduced glutathione.Reduced glutathione were given to group A(1.2 g?d-1) and group B(2.4 g?d-1) 2 days before chemotherapy.Liver functions of patients were rechecked 1 week after chemotherapy.Another 2 weeks of treatment was given to patients with liver function disorder.RESULTS:1 week or 2 weeks after chemotherapy the incidence of liver function impairment in group B was decreased significantly, compared with group A(P
8.Treatment of Acute Acromioclavicular Joint Dislocation: Kirschner's Wire Trans-acromial Fixation versus AO Locking Hook Plate Fixation.
Clinics in Shoulder and Elbow 2016;19(3):149-154
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study is to compare clinical and radiological outcomes between trans-acromial fixation with Kirschner's wire (K-wire) and AO locking hook plate fixation for acute acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation. METHODS: This study included 61 patients who underwent either closed reduction and trans-acromial fixation with K-wire (group A, 23 patients) or open reduction and internal fixation with AO locking hook plate (group B, 38 patients). Pain on a visual analogue scale (VAS) score, the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) shoulder score, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, and active range of motion (ROM) were used in the functional evaluation. For radiological evaluation, coracoclavicular distance (CCD) was measured on both clavicular anteroposterior view and compared between groups. RESULTS: At one-year follow-up, no significant differences in VAS pain score, UCLA shoulder score, ASES score, and active ROM were observed between groups, despite five cases (22.7%, 5/23) of complication in group A. The side-to-side difference between normal and affected CCD was 2.4 ± 2.2 mm in group A and 0.2 ± 0.7 mm in group B. This difference showed a statistical significance between groups (p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS: For the treatment of acute AC joint dislocation, the K-wire trans-acromial fixation group showed a significantly greater CCD than the AO locking hook plate group. In addition, during the follow-up period, much higher incidence of complication related to implant was observed in the trans-acromial fixation group. Although clinical outcomes between groups were not significantly different, these results should be interpreted carefully.
