1.Factors Influencing Self-directed Learning Ability of Anatomy using Cadaver Dissection: Focusing on Beginning Nursing Students
Health Communication 2018;13(2):109-115
BACKGROUND: The study is descriptive research study to investigate the self-directed learning ability to explore the facts that influence of anatomy using cadaver dissection beginning nursing students.METHODS: A descriptive research design was used. The data was collected from 31st May to 7 June, 2016. The participants were total 121 first-year nursing students in C University. This anatomy practicum course was composed of three session, and each session was composed of 3hours, 60minutes of body structure and anatomy lecture, 90 minutes of cadaver dissection, and 30minutes of summary.RESULTS: The results of the study showed that satisfaction with cadaver dissection was statistically significant in the usefulness in connection with the major of nursing (r=.543, p < .001), educational understanding (r=.465, p < .001), and nursing learning motivation (r=.517, p < .001). As the nursing learning motivation increased, self-directed learning ability increased. Also nursing learning motivation influenced self-directed learning (β=0.266, p < .01).CONCLUSION: It is necessary to develop a program that can link theoretical education with practicum education of anatomy using cadaver dissection for efficient learning of the anatomy major courses of nursing students.

2.The validity and reliability of the Korean version of the General Attitudes towards Artificial Intelligence Scale for nursing students
Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2022;28(4):357-367
Purpose:
The aim of the study was to verify the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the General Attitudes towards Artificial Intelligence Scale (GAAIS-K) for nursing students.
Methods:
Data from 235 participants were collected from April 12 to April 26, 2022. A total of 230 participants’ data were analyzed. The data were analyzed for content, discriminant, known-groups, and construct validity using content validity index, correlation coefficient, and confirmatory factor analyses. The reliability of the GAAIS-K was examined using internal consistency and test-retest analyses.
Results:
The expert-rated content validity index was ≥.80. The sub-scales of the GAAIS-K were moderately correlated with attitude toward accepting technology, indicative of its discriminant validity. The male students’ positive attitude score was significantly higher than that of the female students, satisfying the known-groups validity. Cronbach’s α for the scale was .86 (positive) and .74 (negative), and the intra-class correlation coefficient for the two-week test-retest reliability was .86 (positive) and .60 (negative). The scores for positive and negative attitudes were 3.68±0.46 and 3.05±0.55.
Conclusion
This study shows that the GAAIS-K is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing nursing students. Additional research is recommended to continue the evaluation of the GAAIS-K with a focus on healthcare settings.

Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2020;50(6):837-847
Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of hospital characteristics on employment rate, working period, and retirement of ward nurses in Korea through a retrospective cohort study based on HIRAS data.
Methods:
Data were obtained from a report on medical care institutions of Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRAS). Data from 259,941 nurses who were working for a day or more from January 1, 2012, to December 31, 2016, at 2,942 medical care institutions were analyzed. Life table method analysis, Kaplan-Meier analysis, and Cox proportional hazard regression analysis were conducted.
Results:
The employment rates of 5 yeas and 10 years for the total sample were 38% and 28%, respectively. The estimated mean value of the working period was 3,642.7 days (SE: 17.4 days). Cox proportional hazard regression analyses revealed that nurses who were working at the general hospital/hospital, clinic, and nursing hospital were more likely to leave the hospital compared to those who were working at the 3rd general hospital.Nurses who were working at the medical institutions which were located in cities and countries, established by the private foundation, rated lower levels of nursing, and owned an insufficient number of beds, nurses and doctors were more likely to leave their workplace compared to those of the counterparts.
Conclusion
This study indicates that hospital characteristics may play a significant role in retirement and working period of ward nurses in Korea. The improvement of hospital conditions to reduce ward nurses’ retirement are needed.

The incidence of ectopic pregnancy has been increasing for many years and ectopic pregnancy is still a leading cause of maternal death although its mortality is reduced significantly with improved early diagnosis and treatment. Intraligamentous pregnancy, a subset of ectopic pregnancy, is one of the most unusual accident so that the diagnosis of intraligamentous pregnancy is hardly ever made prior to laparotomy. We experienced intraligamentous pregnancy with hemoperitoneum. So we presented a case with brief review of literature.

About 50% of renal cell carcinoma patients initially present with a regional or distant metastatic disease. Attempts to treat metastatic renal cell carcinomas have been directed at cytokine-based immunotherapy. Response rates of interleukin-2-based immunotherapy of 5 to 29% have been reported in this disease. Immunization as a mechanism to recruit host antitumor responses is increasingly being described as a potentially effective and less toxic approach for the treatment of metastatic and high-risk primary cancers. An autologous renal cell cancer vaccine has been applied at our institution for the prevention of recurrence or metastasis in locally advanced cases for more than one year. Herein, two metastatic renal cell carcinoma cases, which failed to show a response to initial immunotherapy or chemoradiotherapy, which were successfully treated with IL-2 (Aldesleukin) and interferon-alpha as autologous cancer vaccine adjuvants is reported.

Many natural medicines have been studied for their capacity and effects of anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and regenerative potential in periodontal tissues. Safflower seed has been traditionally used as a drug for treatment of bone fracture in oriental medicine. The purpose of the present study was to compare the effects of safflower seed extract and bone substitute on bone formation and regeneration in artificial defects in mongrel dogs. The bony defects were made with round bur at mandible and tibia. Extracts of safflower seed and bovine bone were placed directly at each defect for experimental group, and the defect of control group was sutured without any other treatment. Experimental animals were sacrificed at 8 weeks. And then histopathologic reading and histomorphometric study was done. There was not significant differences between control and experimental groups in osteoclastic activity and infiltration of inflammatory cells. However, new capillary proliferation, fibrosis and new bone formation were prominent in safflower seed extract group. The mandibular defects of safflower seed extract group were healed with dense connective and bony tissues, and endochondral bone formation was observed in tibial defect of safflower seed extract group only. New bone area of safflower seed extract group was more significantly increased than that of control and that of bone substitute group. These results indicate that direct local application of safflower seed extracts on bony defects seems to reduces the early inflammatory response and to promotes the bone regeneration.

Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 2021;39(3):172-176
Cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation (CAA-RI) is a distinct subset of cerebral amyloid angiopathy characterized by the auto-inflammatory response to amyloid-laden small arteries of cerebral cortex and leptomeninges. Clinical features include cognitive-behavioral change, headache, focal neurologic deficits and seizure. Because anti-inflammatory treatments can rapidly relieve neurologic symptoms, early diagnosis is critical. Herein, we report a CAA-RI case with distinct laboratory findings of a decreased cerebrospinal fluid amyloid beta 1-42 level and relatively reduced florbetaben uptake in the focal inflammatory lesion during the acute phase of CAA-RI.
