OBJECTIVES: Dysfunctional uterine bleeding(DUB) is defined as abnormal bleeding from the uterine endometrium unrelated to anatomic lesions of the uterus, and its incidence is 10-15% among gynecologic diseases. We conducted this study for understanding correlation between clinical aspecets and pathological findings of DUB. Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of 599 women with DUB who underwent endometrial biopsy with special regard to the relation between pathologic findings and presenting symtoms or complaints from Jan. 1988 to Dec. 1997. RESULTS: Age distribution of DUB was mainly 5th decade, mean age was 44.1years, among various bleeding patterns, intermenstrual bleeding was the most common pattern(31.6%) and the next was menorrhagia(25.0%). Histologic findings of endometrium were proliferative phase, 327 cases(54.6%), hyperplasia, 139 cases(23.2%), secretory phase, 74 cases(12.4%) in order of frequency, and there was no difference in distribution of histologic findings among various bleeding patterns. CONCLUSION: Compared to other previoius studies, our study showed more incidence of endometrial hyperplasia, especially at age group of 40 or more. So patients aged more than this age with abnormal uterine bleeding must undergo emdometrial biopsy for pathologic diagnosis. Patients who are diagnosed endometrial hyperplasia must be carefully followed up because there are possibilities of progression to endometrial carcinoma.

Nevus Iipomatosus cutaneous superficialis (NLCS) is a very rare skin disease which usually is present at birth. The lesion consists of grouped papules and nodules which on histological examination show the presence of ectopic fatty tissue in the corium. The authors observed a 17year old female with NLCS. She noticed soft papules and nodules on the coccygeal area since 8 years old. We confirmed this case by clinically and histopathological findings which showed the strands or islands of mature fatty tissue within papillay, mid and lower dermis.

Fetal teratomas rarely complicate pregnancy, having an incidance of only 20,000:1 to 40,000:1 of live births. Overthere, cervical teratomas are rare and accounts for only 5.5% of all neonatal teratomas. We have experienced a large cervical immature teratoma and present this case with a brief review of literatures.

Because of its motility and position, the scrotum is infrequently injured after blunt trauma. We have recently experienced traumatic testicular torsion, testicular rupture, and epididymal rupture with abscess formation after blunt scrotal trauma. We have explored early and treated properly.

OBJECTIVE: To find out wheather the substance P takes part in the pain mediating system of uterus, and to ascertain the role of substance P in the hypersensitivity of hypogastric nerve to bradykinin during the uterine inflammation. METHODS: The uterus has two sensory innervations, which are the hypogastric nerve and the pelvic nerve. Since the hypogastric nerve is known to show increased sensitivity to bradykinin, a pain mediator, when the uterus is in inflammatory state, the hypogastric nerve recording was done for electrophysiological study of uterine pain-mediating mechanism in female SD rats (200-250 g). NK1 receptor antagonist (L-703,606) was injected through uterine artery before injecting bradykinin while uterus was under inflammation. RESULTS: The NK-1 receptor antagonist (L-703,606) decreased the spontaneous nerve impulse during inflammation, and it also decreased the hypersensitivity of the hypogastric nerve to bradykinin during the uterine inflammation. CONCLUSION: Substance P mediates the pain sense of hypogastric nerve, and it also plays a role in increased sensitivity of hypogastric nerve to bradykinin while uterus is in inflammatory state.

As a high-performance polymer, Polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) has good biocompatibility and excellent physical properties and is used in several areas, including dentistry. Many successful cases of implant-supported fixed prostheses with a PEKK framework have been reported; however, a long-term observation of the reported cases and discussion of complications are not available. In this case report, we present three cases of implant-supported fixed prostheses with a PEKK framework veneered with composite resin, lithium disilicate crown, and high-impact polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), and discuss their 6-year follow-up results.

Rectal probe electroejaculation was attempted in 22 anejaculatory men and sperm were obtained in 86.4%. 8 patients had retrograde only and 11 patients had antegrade and retrograde ejaculations. The semen qualities were relatively poor. Only 11 patients (50.0% ) showed total sperm count more than 10 x 10(5) and total motile sperm count 1 x 10(6). There were blood pressure elevations with headache or sweating in 7 patients during electrostimulation. Among these, 6 patient had lesions above Ts but one had a lower spinal lesion (L1). The other side effects were minimal.

Background and Objectives:
With the introduction of sialendoscopy, minimal invasive surgery has become possible for the removal of sialoliths, although sialendoscopic removal of parotid stones remains a surgical challenge. Sialendoscopic stone removal can be differently applied according to the location and size of stones. This study was conducted to evaluate the surgical outcomes of sialaendoscopic stone removal and to provide a strategy for choosing an adequate surgical approach according to the characteristics of parotid stones.Subjects and Method A retrospective study was conducted of 43 patients with parotid sialolithiasis who were treated by sialendoscopic stone removal between March 2017 and January 2021. Surgical techniques were classified into sialendoscopy alone (SA), sialendoscopy-assisted transoral approach (STO), and sialendoscopy-combined retroauricular approach (SRA). The parotid gland stones were categorized by size, location, and multiplicity.
Results:
Of the 43 patients, 13 patients underwent SA, 10 received STO, and 20 were treated with different SRA approaches. The SRA approaches included three distal, seven proximal, and ten intraglandular stone removal cases. The success rate of stone removal was 92% (12 cases) by SA, 90% (9 cases) by STO, and 100% (20 cases) by SRA. In cases of SA and STO, all patients had distant stones except for one who had proximal stones. Postoperative complications including pain, swelling, wound dehiscence, sialocele, duct stricture, and facial palsy mainly occurred in cases treated with SRAs.
Conclusion
Appropriate use of various sialendoscopy-assisted approaches is mandatory to preserve the gland and minimize surgical complications in patients with different features of parotid gland stones.
