Objective To investigate the biocompatibility and biodegradability of mini-implants of PLA-based composites in experimental animals by histomorphometry, and to study its clinical application in orthodontic treatment. Methods Six adult male Beagle dogs were randomly divided into 3 groups, a total of 72 mini-implants were implanted to the mandibular. Two Beagle dogs were sacrificed at 2 months、4 months and 6 months after surgery. Animals were intramuscularly injected with tetracycline on 14 and 4 days before sacrifice. Mandibular specimens and the surfaces of mini-implants were examined with Cone beam CT, CBCT and Scanning Electronic Microscopy and SEM respectively. Histopathologocal changes were observed with toluidine blue staining and HE staining. Results The results of CBCT assay showed that the mini-implants were gradually radiopacity with the extension of time. SEM assay showed that the morphology of mini-implants surface was significantly changed;micro-implants degradation occured gradually.New bone formation was observed around the micro-implants within 10 days.Toluidine blue staining showed the formation of new bone around the mini-implants. However, the inflamma-tion around the implants was not observed. Conclusion The biocompatibility of biodegradable mini-implant is good. This mini-implant is biodegradable in vivo and can promote the formation of the surrounding bone tissue.
2.Recent advance in drug eluting balloon in interventional treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular disease
Chinese Journal of Neuromedicine 2018;17(11):1181-1184
The interventional treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular disease has developed rapidly, but it also faces some difficulties, such as restenosis after simple balloon dilatation, in-stent restenosis and bleeding risk caused by anti-platelet therapy after stent angioplasty. The good results and bright prospects of drug eluting balloon (DEB) in treatment of coronary intervention provide a nice reference for the treatment of cerebral vascular intervention. As a new technology, DEB has the advantages of easily operation, short time of postoperative dual anti-platelet treatment, low risk of postoperative bleeding and no foreign matter left in the body. At present, only a few studies have attempted to do the cerebral vascular interventional therapy with DEB, and the results are encouraging. In this paper, the mechanism, mature experience in coronary arteries and clinical application of DEB are summarized to provide a new idea for interventional treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases.

Objective: To examine and analyze the nm23, p16 gene expression in gastric cancer tissure, and follow up patients 5 years to discuss the relationship between nm23 and p16 gene synergy expression and gastric cancer biological characteristic and prognosis. Methods: nm23 and p16 protein in gastric cancer tissue and control were detected by immunohistochemistry, and the patients had been followed up for 5 years. Results: In 84 samples of gastric cancer, nm23 positive rate was 46.43%, p16 was 44.05%, the positive rate of gastric cancer tissue and metastasitic lymph node was lower than that of normal control, normal tissue near cancer or benign polyp, and these two genes were related to the depth of tumor invasion and clinical stage. The mortality and recurrence-metastasis rate was higher in these low expression group, and had a shorter median survive period. Conclusion: Abnormal expression of nm23 and p16 gene plays a important role in gastric cancer recurrence and devolepment and may be one of markers for evaluating tumor biological behavior and prognosis.

An agar diffusion method was used to investigate the antimicrobial activities of fermentation broth of Lactobacillus acidophilus(L. acidophilus), and Clostridium butyricum(C. butyricum)against Shigella flexneri(S. flexneri)infection in vitro. It was found that cell-free culture supernatants(CFCSs)of L. acidophilus and C. butyricum possessed remarkable synergistic anti-S. flexneri activity in vitro and the antimicrobial activity of the mixed culture was 17. 2% and 22. 4% greater, than single strains alone, respectively. Meanwhile, there was a symbiotic relationship between L. acidophilus and C. butyricum. The result showed that the biomass accumulation of the mixed culture reached 4. 27 g/L(DCW)and increased by 6. 0% and 30. 6% compared to the L. acidophilus and C. butyricum, respectively. Moreover, L. acidophilus and C. butyricum clearly inhibited S. flexneri adhesion to Caco-2 cells by 75. 8% and 81. 2%, and the combination of these two probiotic strains demonstrated the highest inhibition rate, reaching 84. 2%, while the viability of Caco-2 cells treated with L. acidophilus, C. butyricum or their combination was increased by 11. 5%, 12. 5% and 22. 9%, respectively. The synergistic effect of L. acidophilus and C. butyricum provided better protection against Shigella flexneri infection, which represents a promising alternative therapy for shigellosis.

Chinese Journal of Hematology 2019;40(2):132-136
Objective:
To evaluate the outcomes of splenectomy in the treatment of relapsed/refractory autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA).
Methods:
Retrospective analysis was performed in 30 cases with relapsed/refractory AIHA who were treated with splenectomy in our hospital. The pre- and post-operative blood routine indexes and responses were followed up.
Results:
Among the 30 relapsed/refractory AIHA patients, 20 were pure AIHA (including 13 patients with warm antibody AIHA, 2 with warm-cold double antibody AIHA and 5 with Coombs negative AIHA) and 10 were Evans syndrome. The short-term response was evaluated 10-14 days after operation, and the overall response rate (ORR) of short-term response was 90% [12 cases in complete response (CR), 6 cases in partial response (PR)] in 20 therapeutic evaluable cases. Among 13 patients with long-term follow-up data, except 3 patients with Evans syndrome died (2 cases were refractory to splenectomy, 1 case relapsed after surgery), the ORR of 10 patients with relapsed/refractory pure AIHA at 6 months and 12 months were 90% (9/10) and 70% (7/10), respectively, with a median follow-up of 14 (4-156) months. At the end of follow-up, 3 cases had maintained CR for more than 3 years.
Conclusion
The short-term response of splenectomy as a second-line treatment for relapsed/refractory AIHA is satisfactory, and long-term outcome of splenectomy is up to 70% at 1 year. Approximately one-third of patients could maintain sustained remission.

Objective:
To study the dosimetric characteristics and plan quality of PTV-based intensity modulated proton radiotherapy (IMPT) and volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) plans for prostate cancer, so as to provide a reference for clinical application.
Methods:
A total of 10 prostate cancer cases were included in this retrospective study. IMPT and RapidArc plans were designed by RayStation and Eclipse TPS based on PTV, respectively. For each case, IMPT plans were generated using multiple field optimization (MFO) technique with two parallel-opposed lateral fields, whereas RapidArc plans were generated using double-arc technique (two full arcs). Final dose calculation of IMPT was conducted by pencil beam(PB) and Monte Carlo (MC) algorithm, respectively, with adopted data model from the pencil beam scanning (PBS) proton therapy system of IBA Protues Plus(IBA Group, Belgium); The data model originated from the linear accelerator of Varian Clinac iX (Varian Medical Systems, America) was used for RapidArc plans. Dosimetric parameters of DVH and dose distribution were used to compare the dose differences in targets and organs at risk (OARs) between these two treatment techniques.
Results:
For targets, HIs of PB-IMPT and MC-IMPT were slightly better than that of RapidArc , but CI of IMPT was slightly lower than that of RapidArc;
