This research was to investigate the relationship between functional independence and adap-tive behavior in children with cerebral palsy using FunctionaI Independence Measure for Children(WeeFIM)and the Chinese version of Children’s Adaptive Behavior Scale(CABS).18 children with cere-bral palsy were measured.12 were males and 6 were females.Age ranged from 3 to 12,and average agewas 5.9444(SD= 1.9242).Results showed that the dimensions of the motor subscale of WeeFLM werepositively correlated to the independence of CAI3s(r=0.5725~0.7146);the dimensions of cognitive sub-scale of WeeFIM were also positively correlated to three elements of CABS(r=0.531 0~0.7873).WeeFIM total scores were positively correlated to the developmental quotierit of CABS(r=0.7053).Thisresearch showed that functional independence and adaptive behavior in cerebral palsy children were related, because the ditnensions of WeeFIM were correlated to the elements of CABS.WeeFIM can,therefore,re-flect the functions of cerebral palsy children in quantitative scales. This research can provide a new measure-ment which can be applied to the functional evaluation in medical rehabilitation of cerebral palsy.

Objective To investigate the predictive factors affecting the efficacy of cyclophosphamide (CTX) combined with glucocorticoids in the treatment of idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN),and to evaluate the efficacy of calcineurin inhibitor (CNI) adjustment due to poor treatment. Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted. Two hundreds and twenty-eight patients with IMN diagnosed by renal biopsy in the People's Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from January 1,2007 to December 1,2016 were enrolled. All subjects were treated with CTX in combination with glucocorticoids. The patients were divided into two groups:remission group and no remission group.Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to determine the baseline clinical-pathological influencing factors for the remission of IMN in the enrolled patients. Results The number of total remission (including complete and partial remission) of the first CTX combined with glucocorticoid treatment in 228 patients with IMN was 188(82.5%).Among them,141 patients (61.8%) had complete remission (CR),the median time for CR was 8(6,12) months, and the median time for partial remission (PR) was 3(1,4) months. The median follow-up time for this study was 25(13,43) months.Compared with the remission group, the serum albumin level was lower in the non-remission group, the 24-hour urine protein content, the blood complement C3 and C4 levels were higher, and the pathological stage was milder (all P < 0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis suggested that the levels of baseline serum albumin, complement C4,and pathological stage were independent predictors of clinical remission in IMN patients.Twenty-four non-remission patients were treated with CNI.The overall response rate was 66.7%(16/24) at 6 months and 77.3%(17/22) at 12 months. Conclusions The levels of baseline albumin, blood complement C4,and pathological stage were independent predictors of clinical remission in IMN patients treated with CTX plus glucocorticoids. The non-remission patients with CTX combined with glucocorticoid therapy can still achieve a higher response rate after adjusting for CNI.

Purpose:
The aim of this study was to assess carotid stiffening in a pre-hypertensive (PHT) population using ultrafast pulse wave velocity (ufPWV).
Methods:
This study retrospectively enrolled 626 individuals who underwent clinical interviews, serum tests, and assessments of the systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT), pulse wave velocity-beginning of systole (PWV-BS), and pulse wave velocity-end of systole (PWV-ES) between January 2017 and December 2021. The patients were divided into three groups according to their blood pressure (BP)—normal BP (NBP): SBP <130 mmHg and DBP <80 mmHg (n=215); PHT: 130 mmHg≤SBP<140 mmHg and/or 80 mmHg≤DBP<90 mmHg (n=119); hypertensive (HT): SBP ≥140 mmHg and/or DBP ≥90 mmHg (n=292). Correlation analyses and comparisons were performed among the groups and in the cIMT subgroups (cIMT ≥0.050 cm and <0.050 cm).
Results:
cIMT and PWV-ES significantly differed among the BP groups (P<0.05). The BP groups had similar PWV-BS when cIMT <0.050 cm or cIMT ≥0.050 cm (all P>0.05). However, the NBP group had a notably lower PWV-ES than the PHT (P<0.001 and P=0.024) and HT (all P<0.001) groups in both cIMT categories, while the PWV-ES in the PHT group were not significantly lower than in the HT group (all P>0.05).
Conclusion
Carotid morphological and biomechanical properties in the PHT group differed from those in the NBP group. ufPWV could be used for an early evaluation of carotid stiffening linked to pre-hypertension.

Objective:To investigate the mechanism of curcumin in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy (DR) by network pharmacology and molecular docking. Methods:The compounds targets of curcumin were predicted by SEA and SwissTargetPrediction databases, and the DR target genes were obtained by CTD database. The different genes were mapped and matched by Venny database to screen their intersections. The intersecting genes were submitted to GeneMANIA database to construct a protein-protein interaction network.WebGestalt database was used to conduct enrichment analysis and AutoDock Vina was used to perform molecular docking of the core targets. Results:A total of 52 targets of curcumin, 1 599 targets of DR and 48 intersecting targets were detected. The core targets were serine/threonine-protein kinase 1 (AKT1), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), signal transduction and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) and heat shock protein 90 alpha family class A member 1 (HSP90AA1). Enrichment analysis suggested that these targets were mainly associated with signaling pathways, including the EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor resistance signaling pathway, hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) signaling pathway, interleukin (IL)-17 signaling pathway and advanced glycosylation end product-the receptor of advanced glycosylation end product (AGE-RAGE) signaling pathway. Conclusions:Curcumin may play an important role in the treatment of DR by regulating multiple signaling pathways to inhibit the inflammatory response and combat oxidative stress.
