Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of herbs by internal and external administration combined with semiconductor laser irradiation in the treatment of chronic eczema. Methods Eighty-six patients with chronic eczema were divided into the herb group and the laser group by the randomized digital table,43 patients in each group. The patients in the herb group received oral administration with Chinese herbs together with application of herbs on the affected foci. The patients in the laser group received the same treatment as in the herb group and meanwhile treated with additional semiconductor laser therapy. The clinical effects were evaluated according to their itch degree and skin lesions.Result The cure rate and total effective rate were both significantly higher in the laser group than those in the herb group(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with herbal internal and external administration only, the clinical efficacy of herbal internal and external administration combined with semiconductor laser irradiation is more effective in the treatment of chronic eczema.

Objective To analyse the effects of Word Bank Loan Schistosomiasis Control Project in Hunan Province from 1992 to 2000. Methods The administrative villages in Hunan endemic areas were divided into heavy, moderate and low zones respectively, based on human infection rates. Control strategies including a major approach of chemotherapy to inhabitants and bovines with praziquantel, complemented with health education as well as snail control by environment modification, were adopted in each endemic zone. Schistosomiasis prevalence surveillance was carried out in 50 moving pilots selected from endemic villages in each zone every year. Results At the beginning of the programm, there were total of 35 endemic counties (cities, districts, farms) and 471 endemic towns in Hunan Province. Up to 2000, 8 endemic counties (farms) reach the transmission interruption criteria, and 25 counties and 300 towns reach the transmission control criteria. Heavy endemic villages decreased from 762 to 271, while moderate endemic villages from 1728 to 1053, and low endemic villages increased from 1447 to 2716. Human infection rates dropped from 11.59% to 5.64%. Conclusion The schistosomiasis epidemic situation decreased obviously after implementing the project in Hunan Province.

Objective To explore the efficiency of continuous glucose monitoring system(CGMS) and blood glucose self-monitoring (SMBG)in evaluating blood glucose excursion in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) complicated with pregnancy. Methods Twenty-five patients having suffered from T1DM complicated with pregnancy were selected randomly during June 2012 to July 2015. All subjects underwent blood glucose monitoring by CGMS and SMBG for 72 h, including the data of blood glucose before meal, 2 h post-meal blood glucose (2hBG) and blood glucose at 2:00 AM. Results The level of the highest blood glucose in CGMS was significantly higher than that in SMBG:(10.60 ± 2.11) mmol/L vs. (7.50 ± 1.18) mmol/L, P<0.01. The level of the lowest blood glucose in CGMS was significantly lower than that in SMBG:(3.60 ± 1.06) mmol/L vs. (4.50 ± 1.15) mmol/L, P<0.01. The level of mean blood glucose in CGMS and SMBG had no significant difference:(7.20 ± 1.18) mmol/L vs. (7.30 ± 1.15) mmol/L, P>0.05. The rate of hypoglycemia(blood glucose<3.3 mmol/L) in CGMS was 4.6%, and in SMBG was 1.9%. Through adjusting the treatment by CGMS, the blood glucose before meal, 2hBG and blood glucose at 2:00 AM at 49-72 h were significantly lower than that at 0-24 h (P<0.05). Conclusions Compared with SMBG, CGMS has a relatively larger blood glucose monitoring range and can sensitively evaluate blood glucose excursion, CGMS provides a scientific basis to develop a more rational and effective strategies for controlling diabetes.
