Purpose To investigate the relevance between the expression of miR-339-5p and the clinicopathological characteristics in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Methods The level of miR-339-5p expression was detected in 123 cases of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma tissues and 20 cases of reactive lymphoid hyperplasia tissues by chromogenic in situ hybridization ( CISH) technique. The expression of Ki-67 and BCL-6 protein was examined in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma tissues by immunohistochemical technique (IHC) (EnVision two-steps), and the correlation between the expression of miR-339-5p and BCL-6 and the clinicopathological param-eters was also analyzed. Results The positive rates of miR-339-5p were 39. 8% (49/123) in DLBCL tissues, which was significantly lower than that in RH tissues (90%, 18/20). The positive rates of miR-339-5p were 31. 0% (22/71) for germinal center B-cell-like (ABC type) DLBCL, which was significantly lower than that in activated B-cell-like (GCB type) DLBCL (27/52, 51. 9%). The low-er expression of miR-339-5p in DLBCL was correlated with late Ann Arbor staging and high-risk group of international prognostic index (P<0. 05). The survival rates of miR-339-5p negative patients of ABC type and GCB type of DLBCL were significantly lower than that of the positive patients (P<0. 01). The levels of miR-339-5p expression in DLBCL were negatively correlated with the levels of BCL-6 expression in DLBCL (P<0. 01). Conclusion The low expression of miR-339-5p might be relatived with the progression and poor prognosis of DLBCL.

Objective:To investigate the expression of mucin-4 (MUC4) in meningiomas. Methods:Totally 258 cases of meningiomas and 165 cases of other brain tumors were collected from the First Affiliated Hospital of China University of Science and Technology (Anhui Provincial Hospital) from 2011 to 2017. MUC4, EMA, PR, SSTR-2 protein expression was detected by immunohistochemistry, and their expression in meningiomas and other tumor tissue was compared. Results:The 258 patients with meningioma included 85 males and 173 females, with a mean age of 69 years. Among the meningiomas, 192, 54 and 12 were WHO grades Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ respectively. The overall expression rate of MUC4 in meningiomas was 67.8% (175/258), including 46/46 (100.0%) in meningothelial meningiomas, 3/3 in secretory meningiomas, 44/45 (97.8%) in angiomatous meningiomas, 37/41 (90.2%) in atypical meningiomas, 3/4 in metaplastic meningiomas, 2/3 in microcystic meningiomas, 7/11 in psammomatous meningiomas, 7/11 in chordoid meningiomas, 14/28 (50.0%) in transitional meningiomas, 1/2 in clear cell meningiomas, 1/2 in papillary meningiomas, 4/9 in anaplastic meningiomas, 7/52 (13.5%) in fibrous meningiomas, and 0/1 in rhabdoid meningiomas. In addition, MUC4 was expressed in 44 EMA negative meningiomas and in four SSTR-2 negative meningiomas. PR, EMA, SSTR-2 were expressed in 149 cases (57.7%), 173 cases (67.1%), 235 cases (91.1%) of meningiomas, respectively. MUC4 was not expressed in other tumors in the central nervous system, including schwannomas, neurofibromas, solitary fibrous tumors/hemangiopericytoma (SFT/HPC), hemangioblastoma, gliomas and ependymomas.Conclusion:MUC4 is widely expressed in meningiomas and has great value in distinguishing meningiomas from other non-meningeal epithelial tumorsof the central nervous system.

Objective To summarize the pathological survey of time-zero renal biopsy (T0-RBx ) . Methods The material qualities and pathological features were analyzed retrospectively for T 0-RBx (n=176) between March 2008 and May 2016 .According to the source of donor kidney ,T0-RBx specimens were divided into living donors (LD) group (n=137) and Deceased donation (DD) group (n=39) .Furthermore , the DD group was divided into cerebral hemorrhage group (n= 10) and brain trauma group (n= 29) according to the causes of death .The inter-group differences of pathological characteristics and the effects of abnormal pathological lesions on allograft function were observed .Results All T0-RBx specimens contained cortical kidney tissue .The average microscopic length of renal tissue was (0 .39 ± 0 .23) cm and the median glomerular number 11 . The abnormal pathological lesions included glomerulosclerosis (GS ,30 .7 % ) , segmental glomerulosclerosis (1 .1 % ) ,mesangial increase (MI ,19 .3 % ) ,tubular atrophy (TA ,35 .2 % ) , acute tubular necrosis (ATN ,9 .1 % ) ,vacuolar degeneration of tubular epithelium (27 .3 % ) ,losses in tubule epithelial brush border (97 .7 % ) , protein cast (25 % ) , interstitial fibrosis (IF ,34 .1 % ) , inflammation (I ,42 .6 % ) ,arteriolar hyalinosis (AH) (26 .1 % ) and vascular fibrous intimal thickening (CV ,23 .3 % ) .Among them ,23 .9 % ,1 .1 % ,0 .55 % and 0 .55 % cases were diagnosed as IgA nephropathy ,immune complex associated with glomerular disease and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis diabetic nephropathy respectively .And the reminders were of ischemic injury .The incidence rates of TA ,IF and I were lower in DD group than those in LD group ( P< 0 .05 ) . However , ATN and vacuolar degeneration of tubular epithelium were higher (P<0 .001) .The incidence of GS was significantly higher in cerebral hemorrhage group than that in brain trauma group (P<0 .01) .No statistical difference existed in other lesions or disease constitution among the groups (P>0 .05) .Further analysis showed GS was related with allograft function at 6/12 months post-transplantation in both LD and DD groups (P<0 .05) .IF and AH were also related to short-term renal function of recipients post-transplantation in LD and DD groups (P>0 .05) .Conclusions T0-RBx may detect the abnormal lesions of donor kidney .Some differences exist in types and degree of abnormal lesions among different donor kidneys .LD group has a higher risk for chronic histological injury such as TA and IF while DD group is more susceptible to acute renal tubular interstitial injury .Thus it is valuable for predicting allograft function post-transplantation .Material quality is essential for ensuring the reliability of T 0-RBx .
