Objective To compare the pass rates of two primary hearing screening times and to determine the appropriate screening time. Methods The newborns born in 2004 and 2005 at our hospital were divided into two groups: group A and group B.Group A received hearing screening with distortion product otoacoustic emission(DPOAE) on the 3rd day after birth, while group B screened in one month after birth. The newborns who failed the initial screening were rescreened one month later. The babies with positive screening findings were referred to full auditory assessments. Results Group A(n=2 305) had pass rate 81.9% at the initial screening and 85.2% at rescreening.Group B(n=1 348) had pass rate 93.9%(?2=103.99,P

Objective To explore the action mechanism of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR).Methods Ts were obtained from SHR and SD rats. The aortic VSMCs were cultured in vitro by tissue explant method.VSMCs were treated with different concentration of exogenous bFGF (0 ng/ml,20 ng/ml,40 ng/ml,60 ng/ml,80 ng/ml,100 ng/ml) for 48 h,then cell proliferation was detected by 3 (4,5 dimethylthiazol)2,5 diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) colorimetric assay.VSMCs from SHR in control group were treated with bFGF (100 ng/ml) for 48h.VSMCs from SHR in treatment group were treated with bFGF (100 ng/ml) plus Proteinkinase C(PKC) inhibitor (staurosporine) for 48 h.Results After treatment with different concentration (0 ng/ml,20 ng/ml,40 ng/ml,60 ng/ml,80 ng/ml,100 ng/ml) of bFGF for 48 h,the values measured by MTT colorimetric method were 0.402 ± 0.103,0.605 ±0.090,0.696 ± 0.131,0.812 ± 0.080,0.901 ± 0.065,1.056±0.078 respectively in aortic VSMCs from SD rats, and 0.404±0.065,0.507±0.078,0.608±0.057,0.704 ± 0.107,0.812 ± 0.097,0.908 ± 0.032 respectively in aortic VSMCs from SHR.Compared with control group, the values measured by MTT colorimetric method were decreased in treatment group (P<0.05).The proliferative effect of bFGF in aortic VSMCs from SHR was attenuated after administration of PKC inhibitor staurosporine. Conclusions Exogenous bFGF administration promotes VSMCs proliferation in SHR and SD rats in a concentration-dependent manner.PKC plays an important role in the signal transduction mechanism in VSMCs proliferation by exogenous bFGF.

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of combined detection of VCA-IgA and Rta-IgG in the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods From May 2013 to November 2014, 3 913 serum samples(male 2 367,female 1 546) from healthy people who had health examination in our medical center were collected and 169 serum samples(male 118,female 51) were collected from the patients who were diagnosed as nasopharyngeal carcinoma by pathological biopsy.Serum samples in two groups were detected by EBV RTA-IgG, VCA-IgA assay ( ELISA ) respectively.SPSS17.0 statistical software and receiver operating characteristic curve ( ROC) were applied to data analysis. Results The Rta-IgG positive rates of EB virus were 93.5%in NPC group (158/169) and 2.4%(93/3 913) in healthy group;while the VCA-IgA positive rates were 79.3%in NPC group ( 134/169 ) and 8.9% ( 349/3 913 ) in healthy group. The sensitivity(χ2 =14.49,P<0.05) and specificity(χ2 =157.15,P<0.05) of Rta-IgG in the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma were significantly better than that of VCA-IgA. Using VCA-IgA/Rta-IgG combined detection analysis, not only failed to effectively improve the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal cancer, but to reduce the detection sensitivity to 72.8%( 123/169 ) , compared with Rta-IgG detection only. Conclusions Rta-IgG is significantly better than that of VCA-IgA.There was no significant improvement in the clinical diagnostic efficacy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma using VCA-IgA/Rta-IgG combined detection mode.

Objective:To find out whether it is accurate to estimate femoral version based on femoral broach after femoral neck osteotomy using computed tomography scans. Methods:In 32 total hip arthro-plasty (THA),we performed CT scans before and after operation.Four possible levels (lesser trochan-ter,5 mm above,10 mm above and 15 mm above the lesser trochanter)of broach version were calculated based on the pre-operative CT scan.Stem versions were measured on the post-operative CT scan.We de-termined the difference between the preoperative broach version and the postoperative stem version using the Student’s t-test for paired samples assuming equal variance. Results:For the operated hips,pre-operative hip version differed according to the level of measurement. Our findings showed that the average femoral version was 37.0°±11.0°at the level of the lesser trochanter (section 1),34.3°±10.6°at 5 mm above the lesser trochanter (section 2),28.1°±10.9°at 10 mm above the lesser trochanter (sec-tion 3),and 22.4°±13.7°at 15 mm above the lesser trochanter (section 4),and that the average ver-sion for the femoral neck (FNV)was 12.9°±13.8°.The postoperative hip version was the stem version (FSV),which we found to be an average of 26.1°±11.0°.The mean femoral version for section 1 and 2 was larger than the mean postoperative stem version (P<0.01);the mean version for sections 3 and 4 did not differ from the mean postoperative stem version (P>0.05).The mean femoral neck version was less than the mean postoperative stem version (P<0.01);the difference was 13.2°±11.1°of the in-creased anteversion on average for the FSV compared with FNV.Conclusion:The accuracy of estimated femoral version after arthroplasty depends on broach level. When it is 10 mm above the lesser trochanter, stem version estimation is accurate, but below that level, there is a tendency to overestimate.
