Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2008;7(9):642-643
A total of 100 in-hospital patients with acute stroke were randomly assigned to receive traditional Chinese medicine Radix et Rhizoma Rhei combined with abdominal massage(once daily; study group, n=50) or observation (control group, n=50 ) to prevent from constipation. After 3 days' treatment, 3 patients (6%) in the study group and 44 patients (88%) in the control group developed constipation (χ2=67.482, P<0.01). In addition, no adverse effects occurred in the study group. Our results indicated that traditional Chinese medicine Radix et Rhizoma Rhei combined with abdominal massage might help acute stroke patients to prevent from constipation, achieve earlier health recovery, and improve quality of life.
2.Dendritic cells and natural killer cells in relation to tumor cell telomerase:research advances
Journal of International Oncology 2010;37(10):726-728
Dendritic cells(DC)present telomerase reverse transcriptase(hTERT)to T lymphocytes, stimulating specific reactions of cytotoxic T cells and CD4 + T cells. Researches on the relationship between natural killer(NK)cells and telomerase of tumor cells are scarce. DC and NK cells act together promoting antitumor responses and possibly participate in anti-tumor immune responses with telomerase.

[Objective]To evaluate the efficacy of topical use of 1 g/L tacrolimus eye drops in the treatment of ocular alkali burns.[Methods]A prospective study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of 1 g/L tacrolimus eye drops in the treatment of 12 patients with ocular alkali burns admittedin Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University between May 23,2016 and Jan-uary 18,2017. The patients were treated for 1 ~ 18 weeks, with an average of 8.91 ± 5.56 weeks. The degree of ocular alkali burns was evaluated according to Roper-Hall classification system. In this group of patients, there were 2 cases of gradeⅡburns,5 cases of gradeⅢburns and 5 cases of gradeⅣburns. Each patient was given 1 g/L tacrolimus eye drops 2 times a day after admission. The slit lamp microscope and corneal fluorescein sodium staining examination were performed before and 1th week,2nd week,3rd week, 4th week,6th week,8th week respectively after performing topical tacrolimus treatment. Photos were taken to keep records to dynami-cally observe the epithelial repair and anterior segment lesions. Adobe Photoshop CS6 image processing software was used to calculate the area of corneal epithelium repair. The therapeutic effect was evaluated according to the corneal epithelial repair ,visual acuity and complications. The statistical analysis was carried out by SPSS 19.0 software.[Results]4 cases reached good prognosis ,including 2 cases of gradeⅡ and 2 cases of gradeⅢ burns, the corneal epithelium healed and the visual acuity was greater than 0.3. 5 cases had guarded prognosis, including 3 cases of gradeⅢand 2 cases of gradeⅣburns, corneal epithelium healed in 2 cases, corneal epi-thelial repair rate was greater than 50%in 3 cases,in which corneal neovascularization or corneal conjunctiva occurred, and the visu-al acuity was less than 0.3. 3 cases of gradeⅣ burns had poor prognosis:1 had corneal perforation,1 had long term corneal ulcer, and 1 had secondary glaucoma. In 12 cases, the corneal epithelial healing rate reached 99% in 50% patients, and the healing rate was greater than 50%in 75%patients. The visual acuity of 33.3%patients increased by more than three lines, and 66.6%cases had complications. The main factors affecting the prognosis are:The degree of corneal and corneal limbal burns, complication and corneal epithelial repair rate.[Conclusion]1 g/L tacrolimus eye drops can reduce the inflammatory reaction of ocular alkali burns ,reduce the incidence of glaucoma, promote corneal ulcer healing and corneal epithelial repair, and reduce complications caused by corneal lim-bal burns.

Objective To establish a TaqMan-MGB fluorescent probe characterized real-time polymerase chain reaction ( qPCR) method for detecting retinoic acid induced genes G ( RIG-G) in human acute promyelocytic leukemia ( M3 ) .Analyze RIG-G expression levels in peripheral blood of both normal persons and M3 patients and explore its diagnosis value for M 3.Methods Methodology establishment study.A detection method and standard curve of TaqMan-MGB real-time PCR were established after designing specific primers and TaqMan-MGB fluorescence probe of human RIG-G gene and using reverse transcription complementary DNA ( cDNA) as a template. The performance of this method was evaluated in specificity, accuracy, precision, analytical sensitivity and interference substances . Twenty clinical specimens with M3 were quantified RIG-G expression so as to evaluate the correlation between peripheral blood and bone marrow samples .Meanwhile , the results of RIG-G expression in peripheral blood of 40 normal specimens and 20 patients with M3 were analyzed by t-test.And receiver-operating characteristic curve ( ROC ) was used to analyze the detection efficiency of M 3.Results There was a good linear relationship between log value of RIG-G standard substance and threshold cycle number ( Ct ) ( standard curve equation:Y=-3.539X+42.952,R2 =0.999).New method was used to detect standard substance . The deviation between observed and expected values was <5% (r=0.999).Three concentration samples (107 ,104 ,101 copies/μl) were selected for precision test.Intra-assay coefficients of variation were 1.38%, 2.31% and 1.38%, respectively , and intre-assay coefficients of variation were 0.71%, 1.17% and 5.07%, separately. All were less than 10%.The sensitivity of this method was 101 copies/μl.There was a good correlation of RIG-G results between peripheral blood and bone marrow in M 3 patients(r=0.996, b=0.973).But there was no significant difference between this two group results (t=0.099, P>0.05). However , there was obvious difference of RIG-G value in peripheral blood between control group and M 3 patient group (U=18,P<0.001), 3.62 ×104(1.61 ×104 -4.90 ×104)copies/μl for controls and 7.10 ×102 (5.43 ×102 -2.21 ×103 ) copies/μl for M3 patients, respectively. Conclusions Successfully establishe a TaqMan-MGB real-time PCR method for detecting RIG-G gene in peripheral blood. The accuracy, precision, sensitivity and specificity are good .It could provide necessary help in early diagnosis and monitor treatment of clinical M3 patients.
