Objective: To study mental health status in patients with hepatitis and cirrhosis. Methods: Symptom checklist 90 (SCL-90) were assessed to 123 patients with acute and chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis. Results: The factor scores of SCL-90 in those patients were significantly higher than those in Chinese norms (P﹤0.01), especially for somatization, depression, anxiety and hostility factors in patients with chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis. The factor scores existed elevatory tendency according to the severity of disease among the three groups, but the significant difference was only founded in psychotic factor. Multiple factor analysis showed that the type of liver diseases, age and marriage influenced the factor scores. Conclusion: Mental health problems exist in varying degrees in most patients with hepatitis and cirrhosis, and the type of liver diseases, age and marriage play an importance role in the factor scores of SCL-90.

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2000;20(6):524-526
ObjectiveTo investigate the changes of arterial base deficits (BD) in the early stageof extensive burned patients. MethodsWe perform a retrospective review of 126 patients with a totalbody surface area (TBSA) over 30% whose resuscitations were initiated with the Ruijin formula to ob-serve the BD changes and analyze the relationship of BD and TBSA at different postburn time intervals insurvivors and deaths. ResultsWithin 48h after burn injury, the BD value improved gradually. Thedifference between survivors and nonsurvivors was significant at 4 to 8h interval after burn injury ( P <0.05). BD was correlated with TBSA strongly during 4 to 16h after burn injury ( P ≤0.05)in nonsur-vivors, but not in survivors. The incidence of the shock- related complications in survivors was higherthan in nonsurvivors. ConclusionBD could be one of monitor index in the shock stage after severeburM injury.

Fang YIWEN ; Fullwood J MELISSA
Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics 2016;(1):42-54
Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in cancer. They are involved in chromatin remodeling, as well as transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation, through a vari-ety of chromatin-based mechanisms and via cross-talk with other RNA species. lncRNAs can func-tion as decoys, scaffolds, and enhancer RNAs. This review summarizes the characteristics of lncRNAs, including their roles, functions, and working mechanisms, describes methods for identi-fying and annotating lncRNAs, and discusses future opportunities for lncRNA-based therapies using antisense oligonucleotides.

Journal of Clinical Hepatology 2018;34(10):2213-2216
HBV reactivation is commonly seen during immunosuppressive therapy and is associated with high incidence and mortality rates due to hepatitis outbreak and liver decompensation, and therefore, it should be taken seriously. However, the prevention and management of this potential complication is still a difficulty in clinical practice. This article reviews the diagnostic criteria and clinical outcomes of HBV reactivation, discusses the association of immunosuppressive therapy with the risk of HBV reactivation, and outlines the strategies for the prevention of HBV reactivation and recent advances. It is pointed out that early identification of patients with HBV infection before immunosuppressive therapy is of vital importance, and the initiation of antiviral therapy at the right moment based on risk stratification can effectively reduce the risk of HBV reactivation. We hope that this review can increase the awareness of HBV reactivation among clinicians and provide an effective reference for optimizing the management and prevention of HBV infection.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the frequencies of SLC26A4 hot spot mutations by genetic testing method in non-syndromic hearing loss children. The feasibility of genetic screening method in finding enlarged vestibular aqueduct syndrome was confirmed by temporal bone CT scan.
METHOD:
Ninety-two children with moderate-profound hearing loss were enrolled and DNA were extracted from peripheral blood. SLC26A4 IVS7-2A > G and H723R mutations were analyzed by direct sequencing. The individual with homozygous, compound heterozygous or heterozygous SLC26A4 mutations was given further temporal CT scan.
RESULT:
The sequencing results revealed 11 (12.0%) cases carrying SLC26A4 mutations, including 5 cases of bi-allelic mutation and 6 cases of single allelic mutation.
CONCLUSION
The SLC26A4 mutations has a high carrying rate in non-syndromic hearing loss children. The screening for the SLC26A4 gene mutations is useful in the diagnosis of EVAS.

Objective To explore the role of night waking in the cognitive development of infants and young toddlers. Method A total of 116 infants aged 2 to 30 months were randomly selected in Yiwu, Zhejiang from December 2011 to February 2013. Social-demographic factors were investigated through questionnaire;sleep information were collected via the Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire (BISQ);Cognitive development was assessed in all infants using Baley development scale. Results The mean age was 12.99 month-old. 50.86%(59/116) were males. Ocassional night waking was reported in 5.26%, one night waking in 29.82%, multiple night waking accounted in 64.91%of children under one year old. Ocassional night waking was reported in 32.20%, one night waking in 45.76%, multiple night waking in 22.03%of children over one year old. The frequency of night waking was signiifcantly different between children under one year old and children over one year old (P<0.01). The average duration of waking was 0.49±0.31 h in children under one year old, and 0.31±0.48 h in children older than one year old, and the difference was signiifcantly different (Z=4.35, P<0.001). In children over one year old, the more frequent night waking, the lowered MDI scores (F=3.98, P=0.024). The waking duration was negatively correlated with MDI scores in children over one year old (r=-0.26, P=0.035). Neither night waking duration nor night waking frequency had signiifcant correlation with MDI scores in children under one year old. Multivariable linear regression conifrmed that night waking was an independent inlfuential factor of MDI and PDI scores in children over one year old. Conclusions Persistent night waking should warrant attention.
