Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease. However, its etiology has not been yet fully elucidated. Endothelial dysfunction is currently considered to be one of the most important steps in the initiation of atherosclerosis. In addition, vascular smooth muscle cells, which are the main cellular component of de novo and in-stent restenosis lesions, play an important role in the development of atherosclerosis. Promoting the regeneration of endothelial cells and inhibiting the proliferation of smooth muscle cells are pivotal for the prevention and treatment of vascular injury. Recently, some studies have demonstrated that mesenchymal stem cells can home to the site of injury and differentiate into endothelial cells to repair damaged blood vessels. On the contrary, other researches have revealed that mesenchymal stem cells can differentiate into vascular smooth muscle cells that are involved in the development of restenosis. Here, we review the fundamental researches of mesenchymal stem cell therapy for atherosclerosis and address the perspectives of mesenchymal stem cells in atherosclerosis treatment.

Journal of Audiology and Speech Pathology 2016;24(2):149-152
Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics and treatment of external auditory canal chol‐esteatoma (EACC) .Methods The clinical data of 38 cases(39 ears)with external auditory canal cholesteatoma from August 2006 to December 2014 were retrospectively analyzed .Results All the cases of EACC in this study had the external ear canal full of impacted squamous material or granulation tissue .The Holt and CT imaging examinations disclosed that 10 ears were phase I ,lesions were confined to the external auditory with no bone destruction .There were 23 ears were phase II ,the lesions were located in external auditory meatus with destruction of bone ,but with no involvement of the middle ear .There were 6 ears were phase III ,showing the lesions with disrupt external audi‐tory meatus and involvement of the middle ear ( mastoid and/or tympanic sinus) .Hearing impairment and aural fullness were the most common symptoms .The phase I cases were treated by removing cholesteatomas from the ex‐ternal auditory canal .Canaloplasty and/or tympanoplasty were performed in phase II cases .The phase III cases were successfully managed by modified radical mastoidectomy and/or tympanoplasty .There were 30 ears of tympan‐ic membrane were perfect and invaginate .There were 4 ears of ossicular chain were disrupted with one ear of facial nerve exposed .All surgeries were performed at once .No recurrence except in one patient was found during the fol‐low -up period .Conclusion The clinical stages can help identify the primary lesions and determine the choice of the best surgical approach .

Since the implementation of synergy of medical education, the education of clinical medi-cal postgraduate of academic degree inevitably has faced problems such as the decrease quality of the source of students, unclear training objectives and confused training model, and bad job prospects. Can these problems be solved effectively or not, which is directly related to the coordinated development of clinical medicine professional degree and academic degree. This study analyzes the problems faced by the graduate education of clinical medicine after the synergy of medical education and puts forward the corresponding countermeasures:firstly, to attract excellent clinical medical undergraduates and encourage medical students of related subjects or clinical doctors having working experience to apply for academic degree;secondly, the university, supervisors and graduates need to clear the training target and ensure the quality of graduate education; thirdly, employment guidance should be carried out throughout all the study stage of graduates, and the school should guide the graduates to form correct opinion of employment and to plan their career reasonably.

Objective:To understand the similarities and differences of medical ethics education between Chinese and American medical colleges and universities, grasp the advantages and disadvantages, and analyze the enlightenment of American medical ethics education to our country. Methods:We used individual interview method of qualitative research methods and conducted semi-open interview. Results:China can adjust the curriculum provision appropriately, enrich the content of medical ethics education, improve the medical ethics practice education, enrich teaching approaches and diversify examination form in medical students moral education cultivation. Conclusion:Both China and the United States attach great importance to medical professionalism education, medical ethics training and the doctor-patient relationship education. However, there are significant differences in their history, culture, religion and morality,as well as the medical systems, education on medical students and medical ethics education.Views formed in the interview provide certain reference and guidance for Chinese medical ethics education at a certain level.

Aim To study the molecular basis of protection on myocardial ischemic injuries of total flavones of choerospondias axiaris fructus(TFC). Methods The microarray analysis for the protein expression in myocardium provide a strong tool to explore the key protein candidates involved in the pathogenesis of ischemic injury.Surface enhanced laser desorption/ionization(SELDI) mass spectrometry with protein chip IMAC3,SAX2 and NP20 was used to compare the differentially expressed protein in TFC-treated and untreated ischemic myocardium in rats and the results were analysized with Proteinchip Software 3.0.2.Results Seven differentially expressed proteins were indentified in TFC treated myocardium. These differential effects correlated with the expression of five downregulated proteins and two upregulated proteins, and four of them were discovered on the IMAC3 chip and one of them was discovered on the SAX2 chip. Conclusions The myocardial protection of TFC may be mediated by the differential expression of these proteins which could be the key protein candidates for further investigation.

Objective To investigate the psychological conditions and the quality of life of premenopausal breast cancer patients. Methods 5 Level-Three Grade-I hospitals in Beijing were selected to conduct outpatient surveys on premenopausal breast cancer patients who returned for further consultation between October 2010 to September 2012. Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) as well as Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast (FACT-B) were used. Investigated breast cancer patients were divided into two groups: long-term condition group (more than 3 years after surgery) and short-term condition group (less than 3 years after surgery).Differences between the two groups in SAS, SDS and FACT-B were compared. Results 65 quality questionnaires returned, including 35 from the long-term condition group and 30 from the short-term condition group. The scores of SAS and SDS were significantly lower in the long-term condition group than in the short-term condition group (P<0.001). The scores of FACT-B was significantly higher in the long-term condition group than in the short-term condition group (P<0.001). Conclusion The breast cancer patients more than 3 years after surgery are in better psychological status and quality of life.

Objective To investigate the changing characteristics of myocardial movement in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy by three?di?mensional speckle tracking echocardiography(3D?STE). Methods The peak systolic global longitudinal train(GLS),global radial strain(GRS), global circumferential stain(GCS)and global area strain(GAS)of left ventricle were measured by 3D?STE technology in 69 patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. According to the left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),all patients were divided into group A(35%≤LVEF<50%)and group B (LVEF<35%). The differences of measurements were compared between two groups. The correlation between global myocardial strain in all direc?tions and left ventricular ejection fraction was analyzed. Results The GLS,GRS,GCS and GAS were significantly higher in group A than those in group B(P<0.01). The GLS,GRS,GCS and GAS were correlated with LVEF in group A(r=-0.871,0.610,-0.423,-0.797;P<0.05).The GCS,GRS and GAS were correlated with LVEF in group B(r=-0.517,0.368,-0.438;P<0.05). There was no significant correlation between GLS and LVEF in group B. Conclusion 3D?STE technology can be applied to evaluate the change of the myocardial movement. GLS is a promis?ing marker of the prognosis in patients with DCM.
