This article describes a novel Multifunctional and Transparent Urinary System Model (MTUSM), which can be applied to anatomy teaching, operational training of clinical skills as well as simulated experiments in vitro. This model covers kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate, male and female urethra, bracket and pedestal, etc. Based on human anatomy structure and parameters, MTUSM consists of two transparent layers i. e. transparent organic glass external layer, which constraints the internal layer and maintains shape of the model, and transparent silica gel internal layer, which possesses perfect elasticity and deformability. It is obvious that this model is preferable in simulating the structure of human urinary system by applying hierarchical fabrication. Meanwhile, the transparent design, which makes the inner structure, internal operations and experiments visual, facilitates teaching instruction and understanding. With the advantages of simple making, high-findelity, unique structure and multiple functions, this model will have a broad application prospect and great practical value.

Objective:To investigate the efficacy of intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) combined with drugs in the prevention of lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (DVT) after joint replacement and its risk factors. Methods:A total of 80 patients receiving joint replacement surgery in Jinhua People's Hospital from January 2019 to December 2020 were included in this study. They were randomly divided into observation and control groups, with 40 patients in each group. To prevent lower extremity deep venous thrombosis, the control group was given low molecular weight heparin, and the observation group was given IPC in addition to DVT. The incidence of DVT post-surgery and coagulation function pre- and post-surgery were compared between the two groups. The incidence of adverse reactions was recorded in each group. In addition, 40 patients who developed DVT after joint replacement surgery from January 2019 to December 2020 (DVT group) and 40 patients who did not develop DVT (no DVT group) were included. The factors influencing the occurrence of DVT were analyzed by binary logistic regression. Results:The incidence of DVT in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (5.00% vs. 20.00%, χ2 = 4.11, P < 0.05). At 7 days after surgery, prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, fibrinogen in the observation group were (11.73 ± 0.51) seconds, (27.05 ± 1.17) seconds, (3.89 ± 0.52) g/L, respectively, which were significantly lower than (12.03 ± 0.43) seconds, (27.65 ± 1.30) seconds, and (4.18 ± 0.59) g/L in the control group ( t = 2.84, 2.33, 2.17, all P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between observation and control groups (5.00% vs. 2.50%, χ2 = 0.00, P > 0.05). There were significant differences in age, body mass index, history of hypertension, and operative time between patients with DVT and those without DVT ( χ2 = 4.11, 5.16, 4.71, 8.65, all P < 0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that age ( OR = 1.57, 95% CI = 1.239 - 2.014), body mass index ( OR = 6.71, 95% CI = 1.298 - 34.794), history of hypertension ( OR = 3.23, 95% CI = 1.980 - 5.296), operative time ( OR = 6.29, 95% CI = 2.058 - 19.225) were independent risk factors for DVT after joint replacement surgery (all P < 0.05). Conclusion:There are many factors that influence the occurrence of DVT after joint replacement surgery. Intermittent pneumatic compression combined with drugs for prevention of lower extremity DVT is safe and effective.

As the second largest vector of infectious diseases, ticks carry and transmit various pathogens that cause human infections and pose a serious public health hazard. In recent years, there has been an ongoing epidemic of tick-borne fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV), as well as the occurrence of human infections by brand-new viruses such as Jingmen tick virus (JMTV) and Alongshan virus (ALSV) in China. This paper will review the advancement of disease clinical characteristics, laboratory methods of virus isolation, immunology and molecular biology of these emerging tick-borne viral diseases in China.
7.The role of infection in the development of autoimmune diseases
Chinese Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2023;46(11):1134-1138
Autoimmune diseases refer to clinical diseases caused by the body′s autoimmune tolerance state being broken or autoimmune cells being abnormally regulated, and the immune system produces autoantibodies, causing self-tissue damage or abnormal function. Most of the causes are unknown and easy to repeat, causing a huge burden on the quality of life of patients. Infectious pathogens have a potential role in initiating autoimmune processes and exacerbating disease progression, and conversely, some pathogens can suppress autoimmune responses. This paper summarizes the relationship between different types of infection and autoimmune diseases. Possible mechanisms of action include molecular mimicry of pathogen antigens, activation of bystander T or B cells, modification of autoantigens, and epitope diffusion.

Objective Adhesion or too highly located folds upper eyelid and even hlepharoptosis are common complications after double eyelid operation. The method was designed to correct these de-formities. Methods The incision of upper eyelid was designed under the scar. Skin was resected between the former and the new double line, if there was excessive skin. Completely relieve the adhesion until nor-mal tissue was exposed. Expose lateral extension of retro-orbicularis oculi fat pad. An upper pedicle fat flap was formed after cutting tissues off along bilateral borders. Appropriately and transversely cutting lateral portion of the pedicle made it rotate inside downward with enough blood supply. The fat flap was fixed with released orbital fat and the lower edge of fat flat fixed with upper border of supratarsal to restorate the volume. For severe condition, fat granule injection could be used after the skin was sutured. Results 42 cases (80 eyes) were treated in the past two years. The deformities of 32 cases were corrected by the application of retro-orbicularis oculi fat pad. Fat granule injection was applied for the other 10 pa-tients meanwhile. 30 cases (60 eyes) were followed up for 6 to 24 months. The results were satisfactory. Conclusion The methods are performed easily and the results are satisfied. It is worth of recommenda-tion.

In December 2019, a cluster of patients with pneumonia of unknown cause were linked to a seafood wholesale market in Wuhan, China. Some studies found that the virus was a new kind of virus which had never been found in the human body. Then, the virus was named 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) by the World Health Organization (WHO). 2019-nCoV nucleic acid detection is one of the essential indicators of COVID-19. Recently, some false-negative cases in China-Japan Friendship Hospital and Hangzhou Hospital led the clinical doctors to question the value of the nucleic acid detection. In this paper, more than 3 000 results of 2019-nCoV detection in Zhongnan Hospital, Wuhan University were analyzed. Attention should be paid to the root cause of false-negative results and the related countermeasures should be taken.
