Objective: 1)To revise the Social Skills Scale (SSS) and examine its psychometric properties.2) To explore the relationship between SSS and mental health. Methods:1)A sample of 394 freshmen completed the Social Skills Scale, SCL-90, and Self Consistency and Congruence Scale. Exploratory factor analysis, item analysis, reliability and validity analysis were used to revise the Social Skills Scale. 2) The relations between the SSS , SCL-90 and Self Consistency and Congruence Scale were examined.Results:Using exploring factor analysis, 5 factors were extracted, i.e. social adaptation, social perception, social confidence, social expression, and impression management. The mean inter-item correlation coefficients ranged from 0.52 to 0.77. The correlation coefficients of item and corresponding subscale ranged from 0.52 to 0.77, and the item discrimination indexes ranged from 0.32 to 0.52. Social adaptation, social perception and impression management were positively correlated with mental health. Social confidence was negatively correlated with mental health. Social expression did not correlation with mental health. Conclusion:The revised Social Skills scale was an reliable and valid measurement.

To study the effect of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) on cellular proliferative nuclear antigen (PCNA) in spinal cord after its injury (SCI), we observed the pathological changes and the expression change in PCNA in spinal cord after the injured rats were treated with HBO. The results showed that there were hemorrhage, edema, vacuolation of nerve cells in spinal cord, disorder and fragmentation in nerve fibers after injury. PCNA was strongly positively expressed in neurons. The results in 0.1MPa HBO group were similar to that of non-treatment group, while in 0.25MPa HBO group, edema was abolished, the cellular vacuolation was lessened, the morphology of nerve cells recovered, the structural configuration appeared normal, and the degree of PCNA expression was decreased compared with the injury group. These results suggested that PCNA could serve as a cellular proliferative index; HBO could prevent or alleviate the pathological changes of SCI, and could effectively promote the repair of the injury of the spinal cord.

Objective To understand and raise the level of osteopomsis-relied knowledge, attitudes and behaviors for prevention and treatment of osteoperosis(OP)in residents of a community. Methods A survey was performed with a questionnaires method targeting at the elderly residents in Changfeng community.The survey was conducted with a specifically designed questionnaire,followed by a second survey.during which health edueafion was stressed.Data were analyzed with SPSS 11.0 software. Results In 3524 residents.3367 responded positively.The ratio of male to female was 1:2.10.The average age of the respondents was 61.34 years.They demonstrated a low level of OP KAP.76.72% of them heard the term of OP,60.11% had a correct judgment of their own bone heahh,42.26% knew the cause of OP.and 37.75% understood the diagnostic method of OP.The level of OP KAP varied in different groups of targeted residents.Of all the questions.the understanding of the diagnosis ranked the lowest.2281 people participated in the second survey,which showed improvement in their OP KAP.The difference was statistically significant.1439 people auended the consultation.99.86% of them considered the activities necessary,96.92% expressed their satisfaction,and 98.54% planed tO take measures to improve their bone health.Conclusion The poor understanding of bone heaith status and the knowledge about prevention and treatment of OP is why it is widely spread in the modem society,which however Call be improved by education.

The clinical course of mycosis fungoides is indolent except when large cell transformation occurs. Large cell transformation of MF is rare and easy to misdiagnose. A case of large cell transformation of mycosis fungoides is reported. A 40-year-old man presented with a 10-year history of pruritic erythema and papules in the trunk and extremities as well as a 5-month history of nodules on the nape of the neck.Histopathologically, the erythematous patch showed typical changes of mycosis fungoides, while the tumor cells were small and expressed CD3 and CD4, and only a small number of tumor cells expressed CD30. Pathological examination of nodular lesions revealed the infiltration of large pleomorphic lymphoid cells expressing CD3 and CD4 throughout the entire dermis. There was an epidermotropism of large cells, and about 40% of these cells expressed CD30. Based on the medical history and histological findings, the patient was diagnosed with large cell transformation of mycosis fungoides. The lesions improved markedly after 3-week treatment with oral acitretin (30 mg once daily), subcutaneous interferon-alpha (2 × 106 IU thrice a week) and local superficial X-ray irradiation for nodular lesions. Up to the time of this writing, the patient had been followed.

Objective To examine the reliability,validity,and practicability of Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) in hypertensive patients in China.Methods Altogether 434 hypertensive patients and 462 healthy subjects were recruited. All the subjects were assessed with the CERQ-Chinese version (CERQ-C), Dysfunctional Attitude Scale (DAS), Mood and Anxiety Symptom Questionnaire-Short Form (MASQ-SF), and Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D). We calculated the mean inter-item correlations for the total CERQ and for each of the subscales. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to analyze the inter-correlation and reliability, and confirmatory factor analysis was used to examine the 9-factor model. Results 1) Hypertension group reported significantly higher score than that of healthy ones on rumination (12.19±2.51 vs. 11.51±2.60, P<0.001), catastrophizing(8.82±2.19 vs.8.11±2.70,P<0.001),and blaming others(10.76±2.11 vs. 9.88±2.48,P<0.001), and had significantly lower score than that of healthy ones on positive reappraisal(13.80±3.55 vs.14.71±4.11,P<0.001).2)Reliability:In the hypertension group the Cronbach's alpha for the total CERQ was 0.80, and that for the 9 subscales ranged from 0.71 (self-blame) to 0.90 (rumination). In the healthy group the Cronbach's alpha for the total CERQ was 0.79, and that for the 9 subscales ranged from 0.71 (positive reappraisal) to 0.90 (rumination). The mean inter-item correlation coefficient for the 9 subscales was 0.21-0.42(the hypertension group)/0.19-0.32 (the healthy group). In the hypertension group,the test-retest reliability of the total scale was 0.82, the test-retest reliability of the 9 subscales ranged from 0.73 to 0.92. The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the 9 first-order factor data fitted both 2 samples well. Conclusion CERQ meets the psychometric standard and it is reliable and valid for cognitive emotion regulation strategies, which may be regarded as an appropriate assessment tool.

Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of trimetazidine/coenzyme Q10 combination in the treatment of the elderly patients with chronic heart failure(CHF).Methods Sixty-two male patients aged over 80 years with CHF were randomly divided into intervention group and control group.Patients in control group received optimal conventional CHF therapy according to the guideline for CHF,while patients in intervention group received trimetazidine of 20 mg,3 times per day,coenzyme Q10 20 mg,3 times per day,additionally for 6 weeks.Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF),left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVEDD),plasma brain natriuretic peptide (BNP),6 min walking distance (6MWT) and NYHA cardiac function classification of two groups before and after treatment were observed.Results Before treatmen,the NYHA function class of patients in intervention and control groups were 2.8±0.7,2.7±0.7 respectively,after treatment were 2.1± 0.6,2.4 ± 0.7 respectively,the differences were significant before and after treatment (t=6.808,2.249;P＜0.01,P＜0.05).Before treatment,BNP of intervention and control groups were (540±351)ng/L,(483 ± 351) ng/L respectively,after treatment were (219± 172) ng/L,(316 ± 202) ng/L respectively,the differences were significant before and after treatment (Z =-4.927,-4.042;P ＜ 0.01).Moreover,after treatment,NYHA function class and plasma BNP in intervention group were significantly better than those in control group (t =-2.109,P ＜ 0.05;Z =-2.219,P ＜ 0.05).Before treatment,LVEF,LVEDD and 6MWT of intervention group were (44.3 ± 3.1) ％,(54.0 ± 4.7) mm and (217.0 ± 60.9) m respectively,after treatment were (46.8±3.9) ％,(53.2±4.3) mm and (267.0±91.1) m respectively,the differences were significant before and after treatment(t=-8.313,2.254,-4.561;P＜0.01 or P＜0.05).Moreover,after treatment,LVEF and 6MWT in intervention group were significantly better than those in control group ((44.9± 3.5)％,(213.2 ±78.1) m;t =2.000,2.186;P ＜ 0.05).No significant adverse events were detected in the intervention group.Conclusion Combination of trimetazidine and coenzyme Q10 on the basis of the conventional treatment in the elderly with CHF,can further improve cardiac dysfunction and have a good safety.

Objective To investigate the cause of high cardiovascular lethality in patients with diabetics mellitus. Methods Sections from autopsied coronary arteries and myocardium of dead patients with non-insulin-dependent diabetics mellitus and 12 dead control subjects were used for histomorphometric studies. Results The coronary atherosclerotic lesion in diabetics patients was not different in severity from those in controls. Nor was there difference in number of myofibers or diameters of myocardic fibers and capillaries.But the capillary density and the ratio of capillary number to myocardic fiber number in diabetics group were significeantly reduced compared with control group(P<0.0 l),and the capillary basement membrane in the former was significantly thicker than in the latter(P<0.01).Conclision The decrease in number of capillaries and the thickening of basement membrane enhance myocardiac vulnerability to further ischemia and hypoxia,which may undelie high lethality of myocardiopathy in diabetic patients.

Objective To observe the CT features of ovary Brenner tumor. Methods CT manifestations of 5 patients with ovary Brenner tumor confirmed with pathology and clinical follow-up were retrospectively analyzed, and the masses were described for location, size, configuration, enhancement pattern, presence of calcification and metastatic spread. Results There were 7 tumors in 5 patients, 3 patients had unilateral tumors and 2 had bilateral Brenner tumors (left side 3 and right side 4), with tumor size ranging from 1.52 to 16.25 cm (mean 7.36 cm). Five masses in 4 patients were benign, 2 (bilateral tumors in 1 patient) were malignant. All tumors had well-defined margin. One patient with bilateral benign tumors had large pleural effusion and seroperitoneum. Five tumors in 4 patients (5/7, 71.43%) were solid and had calcification, 2 tumors in 1 patients (2/7, 28.57%) were mainly cystic, with septa in the tumors. The solid part of all tumors were inhomogeneous and had mild enhancement. Conclusion CT findings of ovary Brenner tumor have some characteristics. Combining with clinical manifestations, CT is helpful for the diagnosis of ovary Brenner tumor.

BACKGROUND: Studies have confirmed that RhoA/ROCK signaling pathway plays an important role in the process of epithelial-mesenchymal transition. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Y-27632 (inhibition of rhodopsin kinase of 4-aminopyridines compounds) on the epithelial-mesenchymal transition of rat peritoneal mesothelial cells (RPMCs) induced by transforming growth factor ?1 (TGF-?1). DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: An animal observational experiment was performed at the Laboratory of Nephrology in the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from March 2007 to March 2008. MATERIALS: A total of ten healthy male Sprague Dawley rats were provided by the Animal Experimental Center of Sun Yat-sen University. Y-27632 was the product of Calbiochem Company (German). TGF-?1 was the product of R&D Company (USA). METHODS: Primary RPMCs were cultured in vitro. After synchronization for 24 hours, RPMCs were randomly divided into 4 groups: control group (RPMCs cultured in the DMEM/F12 without serum), TGF-?1 group (RPMCs cultured in the DMEM/F12 without serum, and then added 10 ?g/L TGF-?1), Y-27632 group (RPMCs cultured in the DMEM/F12 without serum, and then added 10 ?g/L Y-27632), TGF-?1 +Y-27632 group (RPMCs cultured in the DMEM/F12 without serum, and then added 10 ?g/L Y-27632. 2 hours later, 10 ?g/L TGF-?1 were added). The cells were collected 48 hours after culture. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The mRNA and protein expression of E-cadherin and ?-Smooth muscle actin (?-SMA) were measured by RT-PCR. The protein expression level of E-cadherin, ?-SMA and vimentin was measured by Western blotting. Objective To compare the sensitivity of four kinds of drug susceptibility test method in detecting sensitivity of tigecycline against Acinetobacter baumannii.Methods The susceptibility of 72 clinically isolated strains of carbapenemase-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii(CRAB) to tigecycline in vitro was detected with disk diffusion method,VITEK 2 Compact system,E-test and MIC test strip(MTS) test strip respectively,according to FDA standards,and the differences of four kinds of drug susceptibility test methods were compared.Results The susceptibility rates of 72 strains of CRAB to tigecycline by disk diffusion method,VITEK 2 Compact system,E-test and MIC test strip were 50.00%,69.44%,36.11% and 98.61% respectively,the intermediate rates were 48.61%,29.17%,26.39% and 1.39% respectively,the resistant rates were 1.39%,1.39%,37.50% and 0.00% respectively.Compared with MTS,the classification consistency rates of E-test,disk diffusion method and VITEK 2 Compact system were 36.11%,51.39% and 70.83% respectively.Conclusion There is difference among four kinds of method for conducting the drug susceptibility testing of tigecycline against CRAB,the consistency of disk diffusion method,VITEK 2 Compact system and E-test is lower.Detecting mediation or drug resistant strains of CRAB by disk diffusion method,VITEK 2 Compact system and E-test needs to be verified by MTS or Broth dilution method.
