Modern Clinical Nursing 2013;(1):56-58
Objective To compare the effects of Chinese herbal fumigation and ultraviolet light exposure on air disinfection in neurosurgical intensive care unit. Methods The floors and the tables in the rooms of ICU were all disinfected using 0.02%84 disinfectant. The air disinfection was performed in the rooms using Chinese herbal(elsholtziae, ramulus cinnamomi, forsythia suspense, flos caryophylli)fumigation as the experiment group and those using ultraviolet light exposure as the control group, both for 30 times. The two disinfection methods were compared before air disinfection,at hours 0,1,2,4,8 and 12 in terms of bacteria tests. Results The air quality on natural bacteria in both groups met the standard of Class Ⅱ Environmental Health Criteria at hour 0,l after air disinfection, without significant difference between the two groups at each time point(P>0.05).In the control group, the bacteria began to grow in number one hour after ultraviolet light exposure and overgrew two hours after air disinfection. In the experiment group, the bacteria grew less, never exceeding the standard level at all time points. The disinfection effect of the experimental group was all significantly better than that of the control group at the time points of 2 h,4 h,8 h,12 h(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusions Chinese herbal fumigation is superior to the UV light irradiation disinfection. It is safe and harmless even in case of medical staff working in the unit.

Journal of Chinese Physician 2011;13(7):892-894,899
Objective To investigate the association between the EPHX2 polymorphism G860A and the risk of hypertension in mild ages. Methods In a hospital based case-control study, one common polymorphism C860A in EPHX2 gene in a case-control study of 100 hypertension and 300 age- and sex frequency - matched disease-free controls were genotyped in a Southern Chinese population. SAS 9. 13 was used toanalysis the polymorphism and hypertension risk. Results Genotype frequencies of EPHX2 G860Alocus between the cases and the controls were significantly different (P =0. 01). Compared with the most common 860GG genotype, the 860GA heterozygote had an increased risk of hypertension (adjusted OR =1.98; 95%CI = 1.19 -3.51), the AA homozygote had a further increased risk of hypertension (adjusted OR =2. 84; 95%CI = 1.01 -6. 11). There was a significant trend for an allele dose effect on risk of hypertension (P trend = 0. 03). Conclusions EPHX2 polymorphism G860A is associated with an increased risk of hypertension, and the 860A variant may be a marker for susceptibility to hypertension.

Chinese Journal of Radiation Oncology 1992;0(04):-
Objective To evaluate the clinical characteristics, treatment, outcome and complications of child and adolescent nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods From January 1970 to April 1997, the records of 145 NPC patients younger than 21 years of age were reviewed. The clinical stages according to 92'Chinese NPC Staging System were :stageⅠin 1, Ⅱin 8, Ⅲ in 79 and Ⅳ in 57. All patients were treated with external beam radiotherapy. Before 1988, parallel opposed lateral pre-auricular portals were chiefly used in 75 patients and after 1988, parallel opposed lateral facio-cervical portals were adopted in 70. The radiation dose to the primary tumor ranged 45-80?Gy: 70?Gy in 50 cases and 32 of them also received chemotherapy. Results Distant metastasis developed in 26 cases, while local and/or regional recurrence in 14. The actuarial overall survival rates of 1-, 3-, 5, and 10-years were 96.3%, 79.9%, 76.5% and 69.4%, respectively. Among 45 dead cases, 16 did so of metastasis, 11 of local and/or regional recurrence and 18 of other reasons. Univariate analysis suggested that clinical stage, size and site of involved lymph nodes, skull base involvement were significant prognostic factors of survival, whereas sex、age、dose、therapeutic method and chemotherapy were not. Conclusions 1. Even though the majority of pediatric and adolescent NPC were advanced, it signifies a relatively good survival. 2. As the normal tissue of pediatric and adolescent patients tolerates radiation poorly, prudence should be meticulously practiced in deciding the radiation dose and radiotherapeutic fields.
