Objective To observe the effect of triamcinolone acetonide(TA) on activation and barrier function of human retinal pigment epithelium (RPE). Methods ARPE-19 cells were cultured in 96-well tissue culture plate. Four weeks later, TA with different concentration (0.02 and 0.05 mg/ml)was added to the cells and culture for 3 or 7 days. The activation of ARPE-19 cells was assessed by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT). ARPE-19 cells were cultured on polyester microporous filters for 4 weeks, and the transepithelial resistance (TER) was recorded. TA (0.02 and 0.05 mg/ml) was added to the culture fluid respectively, and after cultured for 1 week TER was measured again. The RPE permeability was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) with horse radish peroxidase as the tracer. [WTHZ]Results In the culture fluid with 0.02 mg/ml TA cultured for 3 or 7 days, the average survival rate of ARPE-19 cells was 93.70% and 90.63% respectively, without statistic difference compared with the control (P=0.147, 0.091). While in the 0.05 mg/ml TA group after cultured for the same duration, the activation of ARPE-19 cells decreased significantly compared with the control (with the average survival rate of 87.75% and 88.98%; P=0.025, 0.043). One week after cultured with TA, TER decreased significantly while permeability improved obviously in the 2 TA groups compared to the control (P

Purpose To investigate the clinicopathologic features, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of primary gastric inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor ( IMT) . Methods Four cases of gastric IMTs were studied by clinicopathologic analysis, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization, and the related literature was reviewed. Results In four cases there are two males and two females, age range from 21 to 51 years old, and tumor size ranged from 1. 5 to 6. 5 cm in the greatest dimension. Histologically, these tumors were composed of varied spindle cells and chronic inflammatory cells, in a myxoid or hyalinized stroma. Occasionally, there were calcifica-tion and ossification areas. Most of the spindle cells had bland appearance and a minority of the tumor cells showed mild atypia. One to two mitotic figures were recognized in 10 high power fields ( HPFs) in 1 to 2 patients. Smooth muscle actin staining was observed in all tumors and ALK staining observed in two tumors. One tumor focally expressed CD34. S-100, desmin, CD68, CD117 and DOG1 was negative in all IMTs. The patients were followed up from 24 to 66 months, and none of them had tumor relapsed or metastasis. Conclu-sions Primary gastric IMTs have an intermediate behavior, and a few cases have malignant potential. It should be distinguished from other spindle cell lesions similar to IMT.

Disasters are traumatic events that are always incongruent with our existing cognitive structures. Immediate negative psychological impact and traumatic related psychiatric disorders are popular among survivals involving the disasters. Super-half of survivals involving the "5" 12" Wenchuan earthquake experienced the symptoms of anxiety or increased arousal. 12.59% of survivals were met with the ASD diagnosis. 21.29% of adults and 10.21% of adolescents were met with the PTSD diagnosis 5 months after the major earthquake. Immediately negative psychological impact and high prevalence of traumatic related psychiatric disorders among survivals were confirmed.More effort should be paid on the disaster related patients in emergency department with psychiatric issues. Also, the long-term psychological service is necessary for Sichuan Pest-Disaster Reconstruction Projects.

To construct a three-dimensional finite element model comparing between one-step and two-step methods in torque control of anterior teeth during space closure. Methods Dicom image data including maxilla and upper teeth were obtained though cone-beam CT.A three-dimensional model was set up and the maxilla, upper teeth and periodontium were separated using Mimics software. The models were instantiated using Pro/Engineer software, and Abaqus finite element analysis software was used to simulate the sliding mechanics by loading 1.47 Nforce on traction hooks with different heights(2,4,6,8,10,12 and 14 mm,respectively) in order to compare the initial displacement between six maxillary anterior teeth (one-step method) and four maxillary anterior teeth(two-step method). Results When moving anterior teeth bodily, initial displacements of central incisors in two-step method and in one-step method were 29.26× 10-6 mm and 15.75× 10-6 mm,respectively. The initial displacements of lateral incisors in two-step method and in one-step method were 46.76× 10-6 mm and 23.18× 10-6 mm,respectively.Under the same amount of light force, the initial displacement of anterior teeth in two-step method was doubled compared with that in onestep method. The root and crown of the canine couldn't obtain the same amount of displacement in one-step method. Conclusions Two-step method could produce more initial displacement than one-step method.Therefore,two-step method was easier to achieve torque control of the anterior teeth during space closure.
