Objective To study the relationships between androgen receptor (AR)expression and the clinicopathological features and prognosis of young patients (age≤35 years)with early-onset breast cancer in Xinjiang. Methods One hundred and forty-five young patients (age≤35 years)with invasive breast cancer who underwent surgery in Affiliated Cancer Hospital of of Xinjiang Medical University from January 201 0 to December 201 2 were collected. The expressions of AR in 1 45 patiens with early-onset breast cancer were detec-ted by immunohistochemical method. The relationships between AR expression and the clinicopathological fea-tures and prognosis of patients with early-onset breast cancer were retrospective analysed. Results The posi-tive rate of AR expression of patients with early-onset breast cancer in Xinjiang was 69.0% (1 00 /1 45).Single factor analysis showed that AR expression was related with neurovascular invasion (χ2 =5.309,P =0.021 ) and lymph node metastasis (χ2 =6.073,P =0.01 4),but it was not related with ethnicity (χ2 =0.097,P =0.755),age (χ2 =0.045,P =0.831 ),feeding history (χ2 =0.066,P =0.797),family history of cancer (P =0.556),histological grade (P =0.469),tumor size (χ2 =1 .006,P =0.605)and clinical stage (χ2 =4.381 ,P =0.223).The median follow-up time was 47 months. There was no significant difference between AR expression and disease-free survival of patients with early-onset breast cancer (χ2 =1 .972,P =0.1 60). Conclusion Early-onset breast cancer patients with AR positive are more likely to appear lymph node metasta-sis and neurovascular invasion than the patients with AR negative, which has certain guidance means for the treatment of early-onset breast cancer with lymph node metastasis positive.

Objective To investigate the correlation between Kruppel-like transcription factor 6 (KLF6) and gastric cancer. Methods By using immunohistochemistry (IHC) and reverse transcription PCR,the expression of KLF6 protein and mRNA in human gastric carcinoma specimens and adjacent tissues from 73 patients were examined. Results The KLF6 protein expression rates were 39.7 % (29/73) and 90.41%(66/73) in 73 cases of gastric cancer and adjacent tissues,The KLF6 protein expression was significantly lower in human gastric carcinomas than the adjacent tissues by chi-square test (P < 0.01).The KLF6 expression rates were 25.0 % (10/40),57.6 % (19/33) in poorly and well differentiated cancer. The difference between the two groups was significant (P < 0.01).The optical density ratio of KLF6 mRNA were 0.1586±0.1071 and 0.8899±0.0638 in the gastric cancer and cancer adjacent tissue respectively, the difference between the two groups was significant (P < 0.01).Conclusion KLF6 expression is low in gastric carcinoma, and moreover,KLF6 expression is significantly lower in poorly differentiated cancers than the well differentiated gastric cancers, there are negative correlation between KLF6 and gastric cancer, therefore KLF6 could be a useful marker for gastric cancer.

Objective To investigate the clinical effect and pathogenesis of tiopronin in treating acute pancreatitis complicated with liver damages. Methods Eighty-one patients with acute pancreatitis complicated with liver damages were randomly divided into two groups. The control group (40 cases) received routine treatment, and the treatment group (41 cases ) received routine treatment and tiopronin. The liver function, pancreatic enzyme indexes and C-reactive protein (CRP), the length of hospital stay was recorded. Results After 8 days' treatment, the liver function improved, and the levels of pancreatic enzyme indexes and CRP were decreased significanfly in both groups, and these changes were more obvious in treatment group (P <0.05). The length of hospital stay of mild acute pancreatitis in treatment group was significantly shorter than that in control group [ (8.6 ± 2.7 ) d vs. ( 13.8 ± 3.5 ) d ] (P < 0.05 ). Conclusions Tiopronin has beneficial effects in treating acute pancreatitis complicated with liver damages, and it has a therapeutic effect in acute pancreatitis at the same time. The mechanism may be related with the inhibition of inflammatory mediators, oxygen free radicals scavenging and other effects.

Objective To study changes of endothelin (ET),nitric oxide (NO) in plasma and treatment effect of puerarin on acute pancreatitis (AP). Methods Seventy-three patients with AP were randomly divided into 2 groups: puerarin group (38 cases, puerarin plus basic treatment) and non puerarin group (35 cases, basic treatment ). ET was measured by radioimmunoassay, NO was measured by nitrate reductase and plasma amylase and uric amylase were determined by Somogyi before and after the treatment.Twenty healthy persons were recruited as control group. Results The levels of ET[(40.6±15.8) ng/L]and NO[(62.3±27.6) mmol/L] decreased after treatment in puerarin group, which were significantly lower than those in non puerarin group[(82.3±20.6) ng/L, (92.6±24.8 ) mmol/L]( P < 0.05 ). Compared with those in non puerarin group[(1182.0±520.0), (5623.0±1326.0) U/L and (5.12±0.76)d], plasma amylase and uric amylase [(802.0±170.0), (4102.0±1126.0) U/L], the time of abdominal pain relief [(2.20±0.72) d] was lower in puerarin group (P<0.05). Conclusions The plasma ET and NO might play a key role in the development of AP. Therapeutic effect of puerarin is sure in AP.
