Objective To analyze the changes in peripheral blood monocyte subpopulations in patients with primary, secondary and latent syphilis. Methods Flow cytometry was used to detect CD14highCD16- and CD14+CD16+ monocyte subpopulations in peripheral blood from 58 patients with untreated syphilis, including 36 cases of latent syphilis,8 cases of primary syphilis and 14 cases of secondary syphilis, as well as from 65 normal human controls. Restflts Compared with the normal controls, the proportion of CD14+CD16+ monocytes among total monocytes was significantly elevated (12.0% ± 5.0% vs 6.0% ± 3.3%, t = 7.25, P < 0.01), while that of CD14highCD16- monocytes was down-regulated (88.0% ± 5.1% vs 94.0% ± 3.5%, t = -7.20, P < 0.01). No statistical difference was observed in the proportion of CD14+CD16+ or CD14hhighCD16- monocytes among the patients with primary syphilis, secondary syphilis and those with latent syphilis (all P > 0.05). Conclusions The changes in peripheral blood monocyte subpopulation in patients with untreated syphilis may be associated with the permanent infection of Treponema pallidum, but have no obvious correlation with clinical stage of syphilis.

Objective To investigate the curative effect of sodium nitroprusside in the treatment of EV71-related pneumoedema/pneumorrhagia and hypotension in this study. Methods This was a retrospective study of a total 10 children with EV71-related pneumoedema/pneumorrhagia treated with sodium nitroprusside using case-control methods. The clinical manifestations and outcomes of the 10 children (present cohort) were compared with those of 8 children (past cohort) who had EV71-related pneumoedema/pneumorrhagia without sodium nitroprusside. Results Among these 10 patients, all were at the appearance of pneumoedema/pneumorrhagia, cardiac arrhythmia and hypotension. Two patients showed severe cardiac arrhythmia, two patients showed cardiac arrest for many times. All 10 patients were treated with mechanical ventilation and other conventional treatments. At the first time of the manifest of hypotension, sodium nitroprusside were put into practice in all 10 patients. Ten patients were treated with intravenously sodium nitroprusside in the stage of hypotension by maxi30 min ~ 1 h,the patients showed an improvement in vultus, pulse and peripheral circulation and decrease of heart rate and elevation of blood pressure after 30 min ~2 h,but at least 2~6 h later, the blood pressure tended to stabilize at normal standard. Conclusion Hypotension is the intensive stage in EV71-related hand, foot and mouth disease ,and the shock syndrome caused by acute left ventricular disorder is related to sympathetic nerve activity. Sodium nitroprusside can effectively reduce the cardiac afterload, and correct shock and improve the prognosis.

Objective:
To analyze the pathological features and their influence on the clinical outcome of non-nasopharyngeal EBV-associated carcinomas.
Methods:
One hundred and twenty cases of non-nasopharyngeal EBV-associated carcinoma confirmed by in situ hybridization were identified at Zhejiang Cancer Hospital from January 1, 2006 to May 1, 2018, and the clinicopathological data were collected and analyzed using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis, Cox univariate and multivariate analysis.
Results:
One hundred and twenty cases were involved in the study; the male to female ratio was 1∶1; patients′ age range was 24 to 89 years (median 50 years). The primary sites were large parotid glands (62 cases), lung(26 cases), stomach(15 cases), and others (oral, oropharynx, larynx, cervix, liver; totally 17cases). Non-nasopharyngeal EBV-associated cancer could be divided into two histological types according to the amount of interstitial lymphocytes: type Ⅰ was "lymphoepithelial-like carcinoma" and rich in stromal lymphocytes; type Ⅱ lacked lymphocytic infiltration. Ninety-eight primary tumor samples could be classified morphologically: 43 cases were as type Ⅰ and 55 cases as typeⅡ; the distribution of type Ⅰ was 57.4% (27/47) in large parotid glands, 20.8% (5/24) in lung, 4/13 in stomach, and 7/14 in other sites. Complete treatment and survival data were obtained for 114 patients. According to the TNM staging criteria of WHO, 52 patients were at early stages (Ⅰ-Ⅱ) and 62 were at advanced stages (Ⅲ-Ⅳ); 102 patients underwent surgery. Seventy-four patients received adjuvant chemotherapy before or after surgery, and 52 patients received local radiotherapy. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that patients with type Ⅱ EBV-associated carcinoma had a worse prognosis than patients with type Ⅰtumors (
