Objective To understand the effects of heat wave on daily mortality of residents in a coastal city in China. Methods In this paper,semi-parametric generalized additive model was used to study the relationship between average daily temperature and the daily mortality of local residents, and every day lag on the impact of daily mortality was observed by the distributed lag model,2005 -2007.Results The relation between the coastal city daily mortality and the daily average temperature was fitted,2005-2007.The relation between them was approximately "V".In summer, the daily average temperature increased 1℃,the relative risk factor increased 0.036.In the establishment of the semi-parametric generalized additive regression model, the daily average temperature and daily mortality showed a significant linear relationship(P

Objective To compare CT performance of the hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)with postoperative pathology and to probe their relationships with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)expression in order to provide more information for the treatment. Methods Clinical data of 75 patients with HCC were enrolled, including preoperative plain and enhanced CT scans,post-operative results of HE staining and immunohistochemical one of VEGF.The CT manifestations were compared with the pathological results of the HCC,and the relationship of CT findings and the VEGF expression was anlyzed. Results There was significant differ-ence between the liver cirrhosis or lymph node enlargement on CT in 75 patients with HCC and the pathology (P <0.05);However the tumor diameter, tumor emboli of portal vein and hepatic vein on CT were similar to those in pathology, exhibiting no statistically significant difference (P >0.05).The psuedocapsule of HCC,tumor size, pathological blood vessel, and tumor necrosis were related with the VEGF expression (P <0.05);However the tumor emboli of portal vein and hepatic vein, cirrhosis of the liver and intrahe-patic lesions (single or multiple)and lymph node enlargement were not related with VEGF expression (P >0.05).Conclusion The CT manifestations of HCC are closely related to the expression of VEGF.CT may reflect the pathological and biological characteris-tics of HCC with some limitations.

Objective:To evaluate the role of the autophagy in hydrogen-induced reduction of myocardial injury in septic mice. Methods:A total of 192 clean-grade healthy male C57BL/6J mice, aged 6-8 weeks, weighing 20-25 g, were divided into 6 groups ( n=32 each) using a random number table method: sham operation group (group Sham), sham operation plus hydrogen group (group Sham+ H 2), sepsis group (group S), sepsis plus hydrogen group (group S+ H 2), sepsis plus bafilomycin A1 group (group S+ BafA1) and sepsis plus hydrogen plus bafilomycin A1 group (group S+ H 2+ BafA1). Sepsis was produced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) after anesthesia. The mice inhaled 2% hydrogen for 1 h starting from 1 and 6 h after operation in group Sham+ H 2, group S+ H 2 and group S+ H 2+ BafA1. Bafilomycin A1 1 mg/kg was intraperitoneally injected at 1 h after operation in S+ BafA1 and S+ H 2+ BafA1 groups. Twenty mice in each group were selected to record the 7-day survival rates after operation. Then the mice were sacrificed at 24 h after operation to observe the pathological changes of myocardial tissues which were scored and detect the serum cardiac troponin I (cTnI) concentration (by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) and determine the level of microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 B (LC3B) and P62 (by Western blot). LC3Ⅱ/LC3Ⅰratio was calculated. Results:Compared with group Sham, the 7-day survival rate after operation was significantly decreased, the serum cTnI concentrations and pathological scores of myocardial tissues were increased, the expression of P62 was up-regulated ( P<0.05), no significant change was found in LC3Ⅱ/LC3Ⅰratio ( P>0.05), and no significant change was found in the parameters mentioned above in group Sham+ H 2 ( P>0.05). Compared with group S, the 7-day survival rate after operation was significantly increased, the serum cTnI concentrations and pathological scores of myocardial tissues were decreased, LC3Ⅱ/LC3Ⅰratio was increased, and the expression of P62 was down-regulated in group S+ H 2, and LC3Ⅱ/LC3Ⅰratio was significantly decreased, and the expression of P62 was up-regulated in group S+ BafA1 ( P<0.05). Compared with group S+ H 2, the 7-day survival rate was significantly decreased, the serum cTnI concentrations and pathological scores of myocardial tissues were increased, LC3Ⅱ/LC3Ⅰratio was decreased, and the expression of P62 was up-regulated in group Sham+ H 2 ( P<0.05). Conclusions:The mechanism by which hydrogen alleviates myocardial damage may be related to promoting autophagy in septic mice.

Objective:To determine the incidence of adrenal incidentalomas(AIs) in patients with diabetes mellitus and the metabolism profiles. Methods:A total of 615 hospitalized patients with diabetes mellitus in the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism of Peking University People′s Hospital from March 2020 to May 2021 were retrospectively included in this study. AIs were screened by unenhanced chest computed tomography(CT) retrospectively and subsequently confirmed by multiplanar reconstruction. Participants′ physical indicators, metabolic profiles, and adrenal function parameters were collected. Unpaired t test, Mann-Whitney U test, and Chi-Square test were adopted to compare the metabolism profiles between diabetes mellitus patients with or without AIs. Regression models were used to estimate the correlations between AIs and the metabolism profiles such as blood glucose, blood lipids, blood pressure, and the adrenal function parameters.Results:Twenty-seven out of 615 participants were detected with AIs(4.4%). Patients with AIs had higher body mass index, waist circumference, and hip circumference than patients without AIs [(29.4±5.1)kg/m 2vs(26.8±3.8)kg/m 2,P=0.018; (102.3±11.7)cm vs(95.8±10.3)cm, P=0.002; (107.3±10.1)cm vs(101.4±7.6)cm, P=0.008]. The levels of serum uric acid and urinary albumin/creatinine ratio were also significantly increased in patients with AIs [(409.6±118.1)μmol/L vs(357.4±100.6)μmol/L, P=0.009; 21.25(7.49, 180.24)mg/g vs 8.60(4.71, 34.56)mg/g, P=0.010]. Besides, individuals with AIs were also associated with a higher risk of co-existing hypertension( P=0.045). Conclusion:The incidence of AIs in patients with diabetes is 4.4%. The presence of AIs in patients with diabetes may associated with increased risk of obesity and hypertension.
