Objective To assess the relationship between the HLA gene sharing of couples and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods Thirty GDM women and their husbands served as study group, 40 normal pregnant women and their husbands were selected as control group. All pregnant women were primipara with single fetus. 5 ml cubital venous blood were taken. Genomic DNA was extracted using phenol chloroform method. HLA-DRB alleles type were determined with PCR-SSP. Results The sharing of HLA-DRB1 between couples in GDM group were 33.33%, significantly higher than that of normal pregnancy(12.50%)(P0.05). Conclusions The sharing of HLA-DRB1 between couples may inerease the risk of GDM, It suggested that placenta- and-fetus unit may play roles in GDM.

To investigate the effect of serum uric acid concentration on prenatal outcome in pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) patients. Methods:Serum uric acid (UA),creatinine (Cr) and urea nitrogen (BUN) were measured in 248PIH patients. The prenatal prognosis was analyzed. Results: Serum UA concentration was closely related to the degree of PIH. The level of UA in severe PIH patients was significantly higher than in mild and moderate PIH patients ( P < 0.01, P< 0.01 ). When UA levels rose, the incidences of intrauterine growth retardation, dead fetus, intrauterine distress and newborn mortality increased significantly. The higher the UA level was, the worse the prenatal prognosis was. Conclusion: In PIH patients, the serum UA level is closely related to the prenatal outcome. It can be used to assess the prenatal prognosis and as an index to terminate gestation appropriately

Objective To explore the gender differences of brain activation between patients with depression in recognition of dynamically sad expression with magnetoencephalography (MEG) technology and the paradigm of expressional experiment,and further to examine its neurological basis. Methods Brain activities were detected using MEG during the recognition of dynamic facial video with 12 female depressed patients, 11 male depressed patients, and their corresponding normal controls matched by age and education. Results Compared with male depression,female depression showed increased activation during different time periods were in turn as follows: bilateral inferior frontal gyrus ( x, y, z = 58/- 60,12/22,20/20, T = 2.17,1.88 ), left anterior cingulate gyrus ( x, y, z = 64,12,4, T = 2.37 ), bilateral superior frontal gyrus ( x, y, z= 30/-24,64/- 4,0/50, T = 2.86,2.36 ),the left brainstem( x, y,z = - 12, - 16, - 18 ,T = 1.96) ,right middle frontal gyrus( x,y,z =40,60,4,T = 2.22 ),bilateral precentral gyrus(x,y,z = -62/56, 16/10, 10/8. T = 1.99,2.65 ) ,left hippocampus ( x,y,z = - 26,- 14, -20,T = 1.77) ,left parahippocampal gyrus(x,y,z = - 16, - 12, -20,T = 1.72) ,right middle occipital gyrus( x ,y ,z = 50, -76, -14 ,T = 1. 75 ),while the decreased brain activation were in turn in right superior temporal gyrus ( x, y, z = 68, - 18,2, T = 1.85 ), right parahippocampal gyrus ( x, y, z = 20, - 36, - 14, T = 1.92 ), left cuneus( x,y,z = -6, -98,14,T =2.46) ,bilateral temporal middle gyrus( x,y,z =52/-34, - 80/-62,20/28,T = 1.95,2.57 ), left pre-cuneus ( x, y, z = - 40, - 74,38, T = 2.58 ), right hippocampus( x, y, z = 24, - 32, - 18,T = 2.05 ) in recognition of dynamically sad expression. ( p < 0. 05, corrected). Conclusion The data suggest that there may be significant gender differences of functional network in depressed patients during recognizing dynamical sad facial expression.

Objective To explore the features of functional networks about recognizing dynamically positive expression with using magnetoencephalography (MEG) technology and the paradigm of expressional experiment, and further to examine its neurological basis. Methods Twelve depressed patients and twelve age,education-matched healthy controls participated to recognize the dynamically positive expression in the MEG scans. Results In comparison with the healthy, the abnormally activities regions in depressed patients during different time periods were separately as follow;decreased activation in the right inferior parietal lobule(t = 3.94),the right su-pramarginal gyms(t = 3.59),the bilateral posterior cingulated(t = 5. 04, t = 4. 85) ,the bilateral precuneus(t = 3.84) ,the left cuneus(t = 3.58) and increased activation in the bilateral hippocampus(t = 2. 13, t = 2.56) ,the left amygdale(t = 2.41), the bilateral uncus gyrus(t = 2.33, t = 2.44) , the right anterior cingulated (t = 2. 15) , the left fusiform gyms (t = 3. 33) (P < 0. 05, unconnected). Conclusion The results indicate, compared with healthy controls, abnormal brain activities as the weakened function of the medial temporal cortex, parietal lobe and the enhanced function of limbic system were distributed extensively in depressed patients during recognizing dynamically positive expression. These abnormalities may prompt the dynamic characteristics of the magnetic source imaging about recognizing dynamically positive expression, and further reveals the mechanisms of emotional symptoms in depression.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for rectal carcinoid tumors. Methods From January 2006 to January 2009, EMR was performed in 28 patients with rectal carcinoids, who were followed up to evaluate the therapeutic effect and safety. Results Tumor diameters varied from 0.4 cm to 1. 2 cm (mean 0.7± 0. 2 cm). Negative resection margin was a-chieved in 26 cases (92. 9% ), tumor margin within 0. 1 cm of resection margin in 1 (7. 1% ) , and two margins coincided in 1 patient (7. 1% ). Hemostasis was performed with metal clips in 14 patients (50% ) and argon plasma coagulation (APC) in 9 (32. 1% ). Except for rectal bleeding in 1 patient (3. 6% ) , no other complications were observed. There was no recurrence in any patients during a follow-up of 6-36 months. Conclusion EMR is a useful and safe method for treatment of small rectal carcinoid tumor which does not cross submucosal layer.

Objective: To investigate the effects of calcitonin on human breast cancer cell line T47D. Methods: The inhibition rates of salmon calcitonin (sCT) on T47D cells were measured by MTT methods. Then telomerase activity of T47D cells was detected using PCR ELISA methods. Cell apoptosis was observed by transmission electron microscope (TEM). Animal models in vivo were constructed by implanting T47D cells subcutaneously into nude mice. After injection of sCT for 30 days, tumor diameters were measured. The structure of lumbar 3 were separated and compared by a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Results: The inhibitory effects of sCT on T47D cells was observed by MTT method. The PCR ELISA method discovered that sCT could decrease the telomerase activity of T47D cells. TEM found cell apoptosis induced by sCT. Tumor diameters in sCT treatment group showed no statistical difference compared with the control group. SEM of lumbar 3 discovered that sCT could strengthen the bone structure of nude mice. Conclusions: The decrease of telomerase activity and induction of apoptosis are new mechanisms of sCT inhibition on T47D cells. The tumor inhibition in vivo was not observed. This may be attributed to the complicated endocrine response in vivo . sCT is still effective in strengthening the bone structure of those nude mice without osteoporosis.
