Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of distal protection device(GuardWire PlusTM) during high risk PCI in patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI).Methods Seventy-two patients with AMI admitted from September 2004 to May 2006 who received PCI were categotized into the GuardWire PlusTM group(GW group,n=38) and the conventional guidewire group(NGW group,n=34) according to the device used. The basic clinical characteristics, angiographic results, degree ST of resolution and changes in serum CK-MB and cTnI levels were compared.LVEF was measured by echocardiography at discharge and again at 3 months after PCI.Results All the distal protection deveices were applied successfully in the GW group.A greater percentage of patients in the GW group had post procedural ST-segment resolution ≥50% compared with the NGW group(68.4% vs 41.2%,P

Objective To investigate the genetic diversity of Plasmodium vivax transmission_blocking vaccine candidate antigen (TBV) Pvs25, with P.vivax isolates from Hubei and Zhejiang Provinces, and to compare the genetic polymorphism of Pvs25 with that from Bangladesh. MethodsThe parasite DNA used for the genetic polymorphism assay was obtained from dried filter paper blood spots. The genes were PCR amplified and the products were purified and sequenced directly. Results 45 complete new sequences were analyzed. Only 3 nucleotide changes were found that would result in amino acid substitutions in Pvs25 in comparison with the sequence from P.vivax Sal_I strain. The measurement of nucleotide diversity (?) was remarkably similar for the two populations, indicating that DNA sequences and deduced amino acid sequences were highly homologous among the geographically dispersed isolates or isolates from the same geographical region. Conclusion The results suggest that Pvs25 has limited antigenic polymorphism, especially compared with candidate antigens expressed by hepatic and erythrocytic stage, which may support the development and application of Pvs25_based transmission_blocking vaccine in China.

Objective To preliminarily reveal the neurovascular effect of electroacupuncture and adrenomedullin (ADM) in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods Rat changes after middle cerebral artery ischemia and reperfusion, and the effect of electroacupuncture and ADM on them were investigated using the neurological deficit score, somatosensory evoked potentials and TTC staining technique. Results Electroacupuncture and ADM can significantly improve the neurological deficit score after cerebral ischemia and reperfusion (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between the two (P>0.05). The P1-N1 and N1-P2 peak values of somatosensory evoked potentials decreased significantly at 30 min after ischemia (P<0.05), recovered somewhat at 60 minutes and decreased significantly again during reperfusion (P<0.05). Electroacupuncture or ADM during reperfusion could significantly improved somatosensory evoked potentials at the end of experiment (P<0.05). Electroacupuncture and ADM could significantly reduce the size of cerebral ischemia-induced infarct (P<0.05), but there was no significant differencebetween the two (P>0.05).Conclusions Electroacupuncture can reduce neurological impairment and improve brain blood supply after cerebral ischemia and reperfusion. That is similar to the neurovascular effect of ADM.

BACKGROUND:Peripheral nerve defect due to limb dysfunction has always been the difficulty faced by the medical profession. Ideal materials and processing technology for constructing a tissue engineering scaffold targeting peripheral nerve repair are stil in research stage. OBJECTIVE:To review the research progress in peripheral nerve repair using col agen/silk fibroin nerve conduits. METHODS:In this paper, the first author retrieved the PubMed and CNKI from 2003 to 2016 to search articles regarding methods of constructing artificial nerve scaffolds and selection of raw materials. Data from these articles were col ected, summarized and analyzed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Forty-six articles were included for final analysis. Col agen and its degradation products trigger no inflammatory response in the host because of high biocompatibility and biodegradability. However, its use is largely limited by its rapid degradation and poor physical performance. Silk fibroin has a high flexibility and biocompatibility, and exhibits a slow degradation in vivo. As a rapid prototyping technique, three-dimensional printing can print various forms of scaffolds within a short time, characterized as high-quality pore structure and large-scale production. Given these, the col agen/silk fibroin nerve conduit prepared using the three-dimensional printing technology can maintain the biocompatibility and even improve the mechanical properties of the raw materials. Until now, more investigations on nerve repair using col agen or silk fibroin have been done, and we have never stopped improving the production process of these scaffolds. Therefore, the col agen/silk fibroin scaffold prepared using the three-dimensional printing technology is expected to become the main candidate for the repair of peripheral nerve defects.

Objective To optimize extraction technology of flavonesingredients from Herba Epimedii by uniform design. Methods Ultraviolet spectrophotometry was adopted to determine the content of total flavonoids. Content of epimedin A, epimedin B,epimedin C,icariin and baohuosideⅠ were determined by HPLC. U10?( 108 ) uniform design was used to conduct the multiple comprehensive evaluation of six ingredients and comprehensively analyze the influence of the concentration and amount of ethanol, extracting time on extraction of flavonesin gredients from Herba Epimedii. Results The uniform design experiment showed that 15-fold weight of 60% ethanol, extracting 2 times and each time with 165 min were the optimum extraction condition. Conclusion The method is easy and reasonable to handle, has stable and reliable results, and good repeatability and feasibility. It can be applied in industrial production.
