1.Jiangtang Mixture Combined with Ear Acupuncture for Type 2 Diabetic Insulin Resistance:A Clinical Observation of 40 Cases

Objective To study the therapeutic effect and mechanism of Jiangtang Mixture combined with ear acupuncture for type 2 diabetic insulin resistance(IR).Methods Totally 120 cases of type 2 diabetic IR were randomly and equally divided into western medicine(Metformin) group,Chinese medicine (Jiangtang Mixture) group and Chinese medicine with ear acupuncture group.The treatment lasted for one month.The therapeutic effect,fasting plasma glucose(FPG),fasting insulin(FINS),postprandial 2 hours plasma glucose(P2hPG),hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c),blood fat,insulin Sensitivity index(ISI) and insulin resistance index(IRI) were observed before and after treatment.Results The total effective rate in Chinese medicine with ear acupuncture group was 92.5%,which was superior to those in Chinese medicine group (P
2.Culture of cryopreservted hepatocytes of sucking pig with collagen gel

Objective To study the method of cryopreservation, and method of cultivation of hepatocytes of sucking pig. Methods Hepatocytes were isolated from sucking pig by two-step perfusion with collagenase using an extracorporeal perfusion apparatus. They were cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen for 4 months. They were thawed and seeded on gelatin coated bottom of a flask. The cells were covered with another layer of collagen. The exprssion of albumin mRNA, cellular morphology synthesis of urea, and content of oxalylacetylaminotransferase were determined in the collagen cultures. Results Thawed hepatocytes maintained their biological characters well after cryopreservation. The thawed hepatocytes could grow well in collagen gel, sandwich culture. In the 10-day cultures, typical cellular morphological and biological characteristics of cultured hepatocytes could be observed. Conclusion Hepatocytes stored in liquid nitrogen could maintain their activities for a long time. The hepatocytes could be cultivated in collagenous matrix, which provided an environment closely resembling that in nature, and their morphology and functions could be maintained.
3.Treatment of lumbar disc herniation by microendoscopic tubular retractor system (METRx) with a postmedial approach: Report of 290 cases

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of microendoscopic tubular retractor system (METRx) with a postmedial approach in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation. Methods A total of 290 patients with lumbar disc herniation were treated with METRx. The duration of follow-up ranged from 3 months to 33 months. Results According to the Nakai scale, 81% (235 cases) of the patients were evaluated as excellent, 13.4% (39 cases) as good, 4.8% (14cases) as fair and 0.7% (2 cases) as poor. Postoperative infection in intervertebral space was found in 2 cases. Conclusions METRx has a satisfactory short-term therapeutic efficacy in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation.
4.A comparison between arthroscopic and open retrograde intramedullary interlocking nails in the treatment of femoral supracondylar fracture

Objective To compare the curative effect between arthroscopic and open retrograde intramedullary interlocking nails in the treatment of femoral supracondylar fracture. Methods A total of 46 patients with femoral supracondylar fracture underwent the treatment by either arthroscopic (19 patients, Group A) or open (27 patients, Group B) retrograde intramedullary interlocking nails. Results The operation time, surgical blood loss and bone union time in the Group A were less than those in the Group B ( t =-4 193, -21 517 and -4 055, respectively; P =0 000). Follow-up for (10 3?3 6) months in the 46 patients revealed the results of therapy were, according to the Kolmert criteria, excellent in 15, good in 3, fair in 1 in the Group A while excellent in 7, good in 14, fair in 4 and poor in 2 in the Group B, without statistically significances between the two groups in the “good” or “excellent” rates (94 7% vs. 77 8%; ? 2 =1 345, P =0 246). Conclusions Use of arthroscopic retrograde intramedullary interlocking nails has advantages of shorter operating time, less blood loss and quicker bone union, benefiting the recovery of knee joint functions.
5.Using FRET Technique to Investigate The Apoptotic Mechanism Induced by Cisplatin in Living Cells

Cisplatin, an efficient anticancer agent, can trigger multiple apoptotic pathways in cancer cell. However, the signal transduction pathways in response to cisplatin-based chemotherapy are complicated, and the mechanism is not fully understood. Using fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) technique, the molecular mechanism of cisplatin-induced apoptosis in living human lung adenocarcinoma cells (ASTC-a-1) were investigated. After cisplatin treatment, the recombinant pFRET-Bid and pSCAT-3 probes were used to determine the kinetics of Bid cleavage and Caspase-3 activation, respectively. The fluorescence probes Bid-CFP and DsRed-Mit were also used to detect the spatial and temporal changes of Bid in real-time in sub-cell level. The results showed that a cleavage of the Bid-FRET probe occurring at about 4~5 h after treated with 20 ?mol/L cisplatin. Cleavage of the Bid-FRET probe coincided with a translocation of tBid from the cytosolic to the mitochondria, and the translocation lasted about 1.5 h. At the anaphase of cell apoptosis, Caspase-3 was activated obviously as detected by FRET and Western blotting techniques. Using real-time single-cell analysis, it was observed the kinetics of Bid and Caspase-3 activation for the first time in living cells during cisplatin-induced apoptosis.
6.Typing,Precaution and Treatment of the Bone Cement Leakage Caused by Percutaneous Vertebroplasty

Objective To explore the typing,precaution and treatment of the bone cement leakage caused by percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP).Methods PVP was performed in 38 cases(11 men and 27 women) with vertebral angioma and vertebral body compression fracture with osteoporosis chosen from November 2002.Results All the patients were followed up for 8 to 16 months and the effects were evaluated by the standards carried out by World Health Organization(WHO).The rate of complete response(CR) plus partial response(PR) was 100 percent.The patients with bone cement leakage by PVP were divided into 3 groups which underwent different remedial methods respectively.Conclusion The bone cement leakage could be prevented through the preoperative preparation,choosing the anaesthesia and scouting the whole operation.The patients with TypeⅠ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ_a needn't treatment,but those with type Ⅲ_b must accept open-operation.Vertebral eggshell technology with open vertebroplasty was effective on the treatment of the bone cement leakage with type Ⅲ_b caused by PVP.
7.Analysis on Codon Usage Bias of the Expressed Genes in Lonicera japonica Thunb

Codon is an important carrier of genetic information in organisms. In evolution, codon bias is formed in many organisms. In this study, the analysis of expressed genes in Lonicera japonica Thunb. is presented. The codon bias of genes with complete coding region is analyzed through CodonW. And we calculated the codon usage bias of hydroxycinnamoyl-CoA: quinate hydroxycinnamoyl transferase (HQT) genes. The results showed that L. japonica were bias toward the synonymous codons with A and T at the third codon position.
8.Characteristic analysis of hemagglutinin gene of measles virus recently circu lating in Liaoning province of China

Objective To compare difference of nt and aa of H gene between the measles virus strains(MVW) recently circulating and used vacci ne strain (Chang-47) in Liaoning province of China, and to study biological an d immunological characteristic and genotype of MVW and Chang-47. Method s The analysis of 1~1 800 nt and 1~600 aa abou t H gene of MVW and Chang- 47 vaccine strain was performed. Neutralization test was performed against MVW and Chang-47 vaccine strain in the sera of measles cases and children vaccinated after 30 days. Results The genoty pe of the MVW was different from genotypes previously described in other c ountries and vaccine strain (Chang-47) used in Liaoning province. It also showe d that 18~28 aa were distinct from aa of other genotype, but most of the importa nt biological and immunological sites were not changing except the site at aa 24 0 .Neutralization antibody titer GMT against MVW and Chang-47 strains were no sig n ificantly different in the sera of measles cases and the children vaccinated af te r 30 days, but antibody titers GMT of the measles cases sera against MVW or Cha ng-47 strain were much higher than children vaccinated. Conclusions There was nt variation in the MVW. Most of biological and immunological a a sites of the MVW and Chang -47 strains were the same and were not changing. C hang -47 vaccine may also protect from infection of the MVW.
9.Effect of different filling materials on percutaneous vertebroplasty and the image characteristics

BACKGROUND:Now the filling material which is used for the treatment of osteoporotic compression fractures is mainly polymethacrylic acid (PMMA),but the PMMA as a permanent foreign body cannot promote bone regeneration,and has a downward extension of the possibility of mechanical properties with time prolonging,so a new type of filling material used to substitute PMMA is looking.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect and image characteristics of different filling materials on percutaneous vertebroplasty performing on a goat model of osteoporotic compression fracture.METHODS:Three vertebral fracture models were established on osteoporosis goats by using an appropriate mechanical stress.Under the G-arm X-ray machine,the fractured vertebrae was performed with percutaneous vertebroplasty and then filled with polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA),self-setting calcium phosphate cement (CPC) and recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2(rhBMP-2)/self-calcium phosphate cement.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:① A total of 36 vertebral bodies of 12 goats were successfully performed with percutaneous vertebroplasty,and there was no significant difference in filling quantity among three materials (3.5±1.8) mL (P>0.05).Bolus resistance of PMMA was strong,but operative time was short,and the image was great;the bolus resistance of self-CPC and rhBMP-2/self-CPC was weak,operative time was long,but there was no leakage placeholde.②CT scanning results on the 2~(nd) day after surgery demonstrated that the three materials were disorderly distributed in the vertebral body,showing high-density patching shaping.Six out of 36 vertebral bodies were leakage,which was induced by PMMA (n=4),self-CPC (n=1),and rhBMP-2/self-CPC (n=1).③ Scanning electron microscope indicated that all materials in the PMMA group were not able to closely bind with host bone,but self-CPC and rhBMP-2/self-CPC were able to closely bind with host bone.The results suggested that rhBMP-2/self-CPC is characterized by long-term operation,short time of bone substitute,and stabilization of reconstructed spine.
10.Clinical analysis of 58 cases of amyloidosis

Fifty eight patients with amyloidosis diagnosed by biopsy were admitted to Beijing Friendship Hospital from January 1983 to September 2007 and their clinical data were analyzed retrospectively.Twenty of the 58 cases were systemic amyloidosis,and other 38 were local amyloidosis.In 20 cased of systemic amyloidosis,kidney was involved in 75% cases,liver was in 55%,nervous system Was in 55%and heart Was in 50%.The lesion of local amyloidosis was usually limited in one single organ.
