BACKGROUND: There are about 20 millions people suffering from mental retardation in China and about 200 thousands newborns of mental retardation are born every year. Mental retardation in children is a result of multiple factors.OBJECTIVE: To explore the popular causes of mental retardation in order to provide scientific evidence for effectively preventing mental retardation.DESIGN: An observational case study taking children with mental retardation as the subjects.SETTING: Population and family plan institute of a hospital.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 1 336 disabled children in 6 counties of Tai' an city diagnosed by family planning authority from January 1998 to December 2001 were selected. Inclusive criteria: intelligence quotient(IQ) < 55 and met the condition of disabled children, aged over 4 years old, those whose parents requested to give birth to the second baby due to mental retardation of the first children. Exclusive criteria: Disabled children with diseases of other systems. A total of 613 disabled kids met the above standards, aged from 4 to 14 years old, including 509 boys and 104 girls with the ratio of boy to girl of 4.9 to 1.INTERVENTIONS: All the children with mental retardation were examined by professional pediatrists and experts of family planning medical appraisal and conducted IQ test by using Chinese Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children(C-WISC). Uniform survey was made according to all the data and processed by SPSS10. 0.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The main factors caused mental retardation in kids.RESULTS: Among the 1 336 disabled kids in Tai' an city, the incidence rate of mental retardation was 45.88%. There were 112 mild cases and 501 severe cases with mental retardation among the 613 disabled kids. The component ratio of etiological classification on prenatal, perinatal and postnatal factors was 36.7%, 29.85% and 13.21% respectively, and 20. 23% of them were caused by unclear reasons.CONCLUSION: It is the key mean to prevent the occurrence of mental retardation by reinforcing maternal health, improving obstetric quality, preventing acquired disease and paying attention to early education.

Objective To investigate the relation between the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and type Ⅳ collagen and the renal lesion of diabetes mellitus in diabetic rats. Methods Wistar rats were divided at random into normal control group(NC group) and diabetic model group(DM group), each group containing 20 animals. The rats models of diabetic mellitus were induced by streptozotocin(STZ). At the 8th week after induction, the expression levels of VEGF and type IV collagen in the kidney tissues in the two groups of rats were detected using immunohistochemistry. BACKGROUND:At present,the problems such as serious shortage of donor liver organs for transplantation,surgical injury,high incidence of surgical complications,as well as the high costs limit the development of liver transplantation,while the hepatic stem cell(HSC)transplantation provides a new pathway for the treatment of end-stage liver disease.OBJECTIVE:To introduce the source and classification of HSCs,research progress and problems of HSC transplantation for treatment of end-stage liver disease,and the clinical application prospects of HSC transplantation.METHODS:Articles were collected from CNKI and Medline database with the keywords of "hepatic stem cells,liver disease,transplantation" in both Chinese and English from 1999 to 2009.Among 87 articles,30 were included according to inclusion and exclusion criteria.Following reading titles and abstracts,original articles,and articles closely related to HSC transplantation with reliable argument and evidence and general analysis were included.Articles of repetitive studies and poor quality were excluded.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The HSC can be divided into liver-derived stem cells and non-liver-derived stem cells.Liver-derived stem cells include hepatic oval cells,mature liver cells and small hepatocyte-like progenitor cell.Non-liver-derived stem cells were mainly derived from embryonic stem cells,bone marrow hematopoietic stem cells and pancreatic stem cells.Currently,the research for the treatment of liver disease by HSC is still in its early stages.There are many difficult issues to be studied and solved in the discovery,separation,purification,comprehensive identification,cultivation,directed differentiation as well as clinical trials.However,as a new source of seed cells,HSC can not only replace the damaged tissue but can stimulate the receptor in tissue regeneration.Hence,compared with the clinical liver transplantation and bio-artificial liver,there are very bright future for the treatment of liver diseases by transplating HSC.

Objective To investigate the application of ultrasound and blood indicators in diagnosis of early liver cirrhosis (S4) for patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB).Methods Data of blood and ultrasound examinations of 631 patients with CHB who received liver biopsy in the Sixth People' s Hospital of Shenyang during April 2002 and March 2011 were collected.Logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the factors independently correlated with early liver cirrhosis,and the diagnostic model was established using these indicators.The diagnostic value of the established model was assessed by using area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) and compared with FIB-4 index,aspartate aminotransferase (AST)/platelet (PLT) ratio index (APRI) and S index.Results Logistic regression analysis indicated that age,PLT,albumin globulin ratio (A/G) and splenic square area (SPS) in ultrasound findings were independently correlated to early liver cirrhosis (Wald =10056,46.236,3.751 and 10.669,P ＜0.01).AUROC of the model based on the above factors in diagnosing early liver cirrhosis was 0.908,which was higher than those of FIB-1 index,APRI index and S index (Z =8.322,4.334 and 4.087,P ＜ 0.05).Taking 0.063 as cut-off value,the sensitivity,specificity,positive predict value and negative predict value of the established model in diagnosis of early liver cirrhosis were 90.1％,77.8％,50.0％ and 97.1％,respectively.Taking ＜0.060 and ≥0.110 as the cut-off values to exclude,and diagnose early liver cirrhosis,69.7％ (440/631) patients could avoid liver biopsy.Conclusion The model based on age,PLT,A/G and SPS can effectively predict early liver cirrhosis,and can reduce liver biopsy.

Objective · To investigate the expression of androgen receptor (AR) in human breast cancer and its prognostic significance. Methods · A total of 183 female patients with breast cancer were selected. The expression of AR in breast cancer tissues was detected by immunohistochemical staining. The relationship of AR expression with the clinicopathological characteristics was analyzed. Survival analysis of AR gene expression by an online database (Kmplot) was also performed. Results · The positive rate of AR expression was 47.5% and was significantly higher in grade 1 and grade 2 group than that in grade 3 group (57.6% vs 25.0%, P<0.05). Breast cancer patients with estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor and P53 positive expression had significantly increased AR levels (P<0.05). AR expression were significantly higher in patients with luminal type as compared withthose in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2) positive and patients with triple negative breast cancer (51.7% vs 31.6%,P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier curves identified that AR gene expression was positively correlated with relapse-free survival, overall survival and distant metastasis-free survivalof breast cancer patients (P<0.05). Conclusion · The breast cancer patients with AR positive expression have a better prognosis, which suggests that inhibitors of AR pathway may be a treatment option for breast cancer.

Objective To investigate the effect of mixed application of lecture-based learning and flipped classroom and problem-based learning in microbiology teaching. Methods The five-year program students of Grade 2013 and Grade 2014 were randomly divided into two groups, and the experimental group (48 students in the teaching reform class) carried out the blended teaching, while the contrast group (48 students of parallel class) carried on the traditional teaching. After the lecture, the teaching effect of the hybrid teaching method and traditional teaching method was analyzed after the theoretical and the experi-mental operation test were adopted, and the four part questionnaire surveys including the integrated use of knowledge, active classroom atmosphere, innovation ability and teaching satisfaction were proceeded in each group. The data of each group was analyzed by t test analysis with SPSS 19.0 respectively. Results The theory test scores of experimental group was (90.16±3.14), which was higher than the control group (82.33± 4.21). The difference between them was very significant (P=0.000). Survey results showed that the integrated use of knowledge, active classroom atmosphere, innovation ability and teaching satisfaction were higher than traditional group. The difference was statistically considered significant (P<0.01). Conclusion Hybrid teaching method is very good for training and development of students' comprehensive quality and ability. It has important significance in improving the students' score.

Seasickness is a leading factor causing reduction in battle efficiency, and psychological factor is one of the important factors influencing the development and progression. This article reviews the mechanism, affecting factors, predictive indications, prevention and treatment of seasickness from a psychological perspective, in an attempt to provide psychological guidelines for military training, enhance the anti-seasickness ability of military staff and decrease its incidence.

Objective To study the drug resistance situation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains isolated from the patients with HIV/AIDS complicating tuberculosis (TB).Methods One hundred and ninety-six inpatients with AIDS complicating TB in our hospital from January 2012 to December 2015 were collected.The drug resistance situation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains cultured from sputum/tissue fluid/fiber liquid and pathological tissue submitted samples in the patients with AIDS complicating active TB was analyzed.The BACTEC MGIT960 systems was adopted to perform the bacterial identification.The drug sensitivity test was conducted by using 960 culture testing system.Results One hundred and ninety-six strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis were cultured,the total drug resistance rate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis was 26.02％.These cases were divided into the ＞100/μL and ≤100/μL groups according to different CD4+ T cells count.The drug resistance situation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to 4 kinds of first line anti-TB drugs were compared between these two groups.The comparison results found that the resistance rate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains to the first line anti-TB drugs had no statistical difference between the two groups (P＞0.05).The resistance rates of first line anti-TB drugs from high to low were isoniazid,rifampicin,streptomycin and ethambutol.The drug resistance rate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains to 5 types of drug resistant TB had no statistical difference(P＞0.05).Conclusion The drug resistance rate in the initial patients with HIV complicating TB is consistent with the average initial drugresistance level of TB patients in our country.The TB drug resistance rate in the patients with HIV complicating TB has no correlation with CD4+ T cells count.
