This article was aimed to research the processing methods of Mongolian Meng-Gen-Wu-Su. Ancient and modern literatures which are related to the processing methods of Meng-Gen-Wu-Su were reviewed, summa-rized and sorted . The results showed that the traditional Mongolian Me ng-G e n-W u-Su processing method began in the eighteenth century in the book of Bi Y ong Y ao Ji Zhu Pin . The processing methods of all previous dynas-ties can be classified into three steps, which are descaling, detoxicating and specific drug processing. The pro-cessing methods contain soft, heat, cold, even, obvious, fierce, slow, white, black, speed and hard method. Among these 11 kinds of processing methods from all previous dynasties, some of them use the same processing name but the processing method are different; and some of them use different processing name but the processing methods are the same. Hence, there are 7 kinds of processing methods according to the processing content. Among them, the sulfur processing of Me ng-G e n-W u-Su is widely applied . This processing method is still used today and it can be divided into two kinds, which are the heat process and cold process. This method was originated from the fierce processing and even processing method in the book of Gan Lu Si Bu. And steps of descaling and detoxicat-ing in the processing are ignored. Other processing methods have rarely been used or not used at all. It was con-cluded that the sulfur processing method of Mongolian Me ng-G e n-W u-Su is still used until now .

Objective To evaluate the clinical application of selective renal artery embolization (SRAE) for the treatment of kidney diseases. Methods Seventy-four cases of renal carcinomas, 11 cases of renal angiomyolipomas (RAML) and 72 cases of traumatic renal haemorrhages were first demonstrated by renal arteriography under Seldinger technique to ensure a site, range and neighbouring relation of lesions and then followed by percutaneous catheterized selective renal arterial embolization with embolic agents. Results The edema around the carcinomas and abscesses became obvious, and bleeding were reduced, which were convenient for operation after SRAE for the preoperative adjuvant treatment of renal carcinomas. The clinical symptoms were improved obviously in 9 eases with advanced renal carcinoma after palliative treatment. The tumour volumes of 11 RAML were decreased evidently by 15 %-65 % with the average of 42 %. The bleeding in 68 cases of traumatic renal haemorrhage were ceased completely in 1-4 days after embolism, 2 cases with serious renal fragmented injury and huge perirenal hematoma combined with shock received successful operation after SRAE, 2 cases bleeding again after SRAE were cured by the second SRAE. No severe complications occurred after embolization in all the patients. Conclusions As a minimal invasive technique, selective renal artery embolization is a safe, effective method with less complications and an adjuvant pre-op-erative therapy for renal carcinoma or a palliative treatment for advanced carcinoma and an effective treatment for RAML and traumatic renal haemorrhage.

INTRODUCTIONThe analysis of immunophenotype of the leukaemic cells has been of great importance for the diagnosis, classification and prognosis of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL).
MATERIALS AND METHODSOne hundred and thirteen Chinese patients with ALL were immunophenotyped by fl ow cytometry and 74 cases were also subjected to karyotype analysis by G-banding technology.
RESULTSOf the 113 Chinese ALL patients, 14.2% were identified as T-ALL and 85.8% as B-ALL. Myeloid antigen (MyAg) expression was documented in 34.9% of the cases analysed and CD13 was most commonly expressed MyAg in ALL patients (23.6%). MyAg positivity was higher in adult with ALL (47.6%) than in children with ALL (26.6%). Abnormal karyotypes were detected in 39 out of 74 (52.7%) cases. The clinical and biological characteristics of ALL patients between MyAg+ and MyAg- groups showed that increased white blood count (WBC) (>50 x 109/L), higher CD34 positivity and higher percentage of adult patients were found to be correlated with MyAg+ ALL.
CONCLUSIONOur results indicate that the immunophenotype did have relevance to the abnormal cytogenetic changes and clinical features in ALL. Flow cytometry immunophenotype has become the most important method for diagnosis and typing of ALL.
