Objective To evaluate the reliability and validity of a medication dependence questionnaire in mi?graineurs of the Chinese version. Methods One hundred fifteen migraine patients with drug dependence syndrome were included and their clinical data were then collected. All the subjects were interviewed with the medication dependence questionnaire in migraineurs of the Chinese version. The reliability and validity of the questionnaire were evaluated ac?cording to test-retest reliability and internal consistency reliability, and the content validity and construct validity respec?tively. Results The test-retest reliability of the questionnaire items was 0.725~1.000 except item 11 (0.558) and item16 (0.443). The internal consistency coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.820, internal consistency coefficient of each di?mension was above 0.7. Every item score was positively correlated with corresponding dimension score (r=0.595~0.962). Seven factors with latent roots greater than 1 could explain 76.3%of total variance, and these factors were relatively pow?erful in related items. Conclusions The medication dependence questionnaire in migraineurs of the Chinese version shows preferable reliability and validity. Thus, this is a promising assessment tool to evaluate the medication dependence in Chinese migraineurs in future clinical practice.

This study was aimed to evaluate the hemostatic effect and mechanism of action for water decoction of Blumea megacephala (Randeria) Chang et Tseng in order to understand its influence to the liver function. The glass slides method and capillary tube method were used in the measurement of the coagulation time (CT). And the tail-cutting method was used to measure the bleeding time (BT), prothrombin time (PT), activated part clotting live en-zyme time (APTT), thrombin time (TT), content of plasma fibrinogen (FIB), platelet count (PLC), plasma complex cal-cium time (PRT), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST). The results showed that intragastric administration with different doses of water decoction of Blumea megacephala (Randeria) Chang et Tseng (6.7 g·kg-1, 13.4 g·kg-1, 26.8 g·kg-1) can reduce CT and BT of mice. And intragastric administration with different doses of wa-ter decoction of Blumea megacephala (Randeria) Chang et Tseng (4.7 g·kg-1, 9.4 g·kg-1, 18.9 g·kg-1) can produce different degrees of impact on PT, APTT, TT and PRT of rats. Certain dose of water decoction of Blumea megacepha-la (Randeria) Chang et Tseng can reduce ALT and AST. It was concluded that Blumea megacephala (Randeria) Chang et Tseng had the hemostatic effect and its mechanism of action may be through the activation of the intrinsic and extrinsic coagulation system. There was no obvious damage to the liver.

Objective To investigate the relationship of skin-resident memory T cells (Trm cells) with the skin lesions in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) so as to deepen our understanding of the pathogenesis of skin lesions in SLE. Methods Peripheral blood and skin samples were collected from SLE patients and matched healthy volunteers. The percentages of effector memory T cells (Tem cells) and effcctor T cells (Teff cells) from peripheral blood were analyzed by flow cytometry. By using direct immunofluoresence, we detected the presence of immune complex, which deposited on the basement membrane of normal appearance skin from SLE patients or healthy individuals. Immunohistochemical staining was performed to detect the two characteristic surface markers of tissue-resident memory T lymphocytes,CD69 and CD103 and to analyze the expression of these T lymphocytes within skins from SLE patients or healthy volunteers. Data analysis was performed using t test. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results As compared with control individuals, the proportions of CD4+Tem (12.6±3.4 vs 8.2±2.5,t=-3.15,P<0.05),CD4+Teff (2.5±1.5 vs 1.3± 0.8,t=-2.79,P<0.05)、CD8+Tem(15.3±3.6 vs 7.0±3.0,t=-6.22,P<0.05)and CD8+Teff cells(13.1±5.4 vs 3.7± 1.3,F=-7.36,P<0.05)in T cell subset were significantly increased. Also, the proportions of CD4+Tem(8.4±2.7 vs 5.8±2.0,t=-2.74,P<0.05),CD4+Teff (1.6±1.0 vs 0.8±0.5,t=-2.84,P<0.05),CD8+Tem (10.4±3.6 vs 5.3±2.4, t=-4.03, P<0.05) and CD8+Teff cells (8.2±4.1 vs 2.6±0.8, t=-6.15, P<0.05) in peripheral blood were increased as well. By direct immunofluorescence,we noticed the deposition of immunoglobulin IgA, IgM and complement C3 on the basement membrane zone of skins from SLE patients but not on heanlhy individuals. The amount of infiltrated lymphocytes in skin samples from SLE patients were significantly iecreased compared to that of healthy individuals, and the quantities of CD4, CD8 and CD103 positive T cells from SLE skin samples were all increased by various degrees than that of controls. Conclusion Skin-resident memory T cells may be involved in the pathogenesis of skin lesions in SLE.

OBJECTIVETo investigate changes in clinicopathological features and survival of patients with gastrectomy at a single institution in China.
METHODSFrom January 1990 to December 2009, clinicopathological data of 2518 cases of gastric cancer patients who underwent surgical resection in the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center were analyzed retrospectively. The overall survival rate was determined using Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test was used to determine significance. The prognosis was analyzed using univariate analysis and multivariate analysis by Cox proportional hazards model. Clinical features, pathological findings and survival differences were compared in this cohort between two consecutive periods(1990-1999 and 2000-2009).
RESULTSThe 5-year survival rates for the whole cohort and those undergoing radical resection was 48.1% and 53.7%, respectively. In the first period, the 5-year survival rate for the whole cohort and for patients undergoing radical resection was 40.1% and 45.7%. In the second period, the 5-year survival rates for whole cohort and for patients undergoing radical resection was 51.5% and 57.1%, respectively. For those who underwent radical resection, the mean number of lymph node dissection was significantly higher in the recent period (20.1±8.3 vs. 9.5±6.0, P<0.01). On multivariate analysis by means of the Cox proportional hazard model, age, location, tumor size, histological type, radical resection, lymphatic/venous invasion, depth of invasion, nodal status, number of retrieved lymph nodes, and treatment period were independent factors (P<0.05). The constitution, number of retrieved lymph nodes, and survival rate were all improved between the two intervals (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe overall survival rate has gradually increased in gastric cancer patients over the past 20 years.

Polyolefin plastics are a group of polymers with C-C backbone that have been widely used in various areas of daily life. Due to their stable chemical properties and poor biodegradability, polyolefin plastic waste continues to accumulate worldwide, causing serious environmental pollution and ecological crises. In recent years, biological degradation of polyolefin plastics has attracted considerable attention. The abundant microbial resources in the nature offer the possibility of biodegradation of polyolefin plastic waste, and microorganisms capable of degrading polyolefin have been reported. This review summarizes the research progress on the biodegradation microbial resources and the biodegradation mechanisms of polyolefin plastics, presents the current challenges in the biodegradation of polyolefin plastics, and provides an outlook on future research directions.

Endophytic fungus is an important treasure trove for discovery of structurally unusual and biologically diverse compounds. A phytochemical investigation on a fungus Clonostachys rosea inhabits inner tissue of Blumea balsamifera (L.) DC. was initiatedrecently in our lab. Six pure compounds were isolated through silica gel column chromatography, sephadex LH-20, and semi-preparative HPLC techniques, with bio-guided strategy. Their structures were characterized as verticillin A (1), (S)-(+)-fusarinolic acid (2), 8-hydroxyfusaric acid (3), cerebroside C (4), 3-Maleimide-5-oxime (5), and bionectriol A (6) by analyses of NMR and MS data. All compounds were tested in vitro antibacterial activities against four strains of bacteria, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and results revealed that 1, 4 and 6 display notableinhibition againstthree bacteria, with MIC values ranging from 2 to 16 μg/mL. Our findings provide references for mining novel antibiotics from endophytes originated from Li Minority medicinal plant B. balsamifera (L.) DC.
