AIM: To investigate the clinicopathological features of orbit primary liposarcoma. METHODS: By means of histological, ultrastructural and immunohistochemical studies, the clinical and pathological features of two cases of orbit primary liposarcoma were analyzed and compared with 6 cases of primary retroperitoneum liposarcoma. RESULTS: Two cases of orbit primary liposarcoma were young persons. The majority of cases of primary retroperitoneum liposarcoma were aged over 40 years. The tumors were located at the retrobulbar region, and involved the wall of eyeball and optic nerve. The tumor cells of case 1 were round, with abundant eosinophilic granules in the cytoplasm, and there were lipoblasts in the tumor cells of two cases. Local recurrence following excision occurred in case 2.Immunohistochemical expression of S100 protein was positive in all cases, and CK (AE1/AE3), desmin, MyoD1, melanoma were negative. Ultrastructure observation showed lipid drops in the tumor cells in case 2 of orbit primary liposarcoma. CONCLUSION: Primary liposarcoma of the orbit may recur.The diagnosis was based on histological,ultrastruc-tural observation and immunohistochemical staining.

Objective An experiment study on the femoral head plastic operation to prevent and treat aseptic necrosis of the femoral head. Methods 60 Chinese white rabbits were equally random divided into 4 groups. The four groups except A group were made a globose defect and filled with 95% alcohol tampon for 30 minutes. The B group was natural repair group. The C group was filled with bone cement after being made defect. The D group was filled with bone cement added barium sulfate agent after being made defect. After 12 weeks, all rabbits in four groups were killed. The specimens were random divided into two parts. The articular cartilage was observed and measured immediately. The other specimen was determined with histological examination and extreme anti-pressure rigidity test . Result The femoral heads of bone cement group and the femoral heads of contrast agent bone cement group kept their outline all the time through the articular cartilage observation. After 12 weeks the cartilage thickness of natural repair group (511.74 ± 69.00) was thinner than the other three groups [ control group ( A group ) (511.74 ± 69 00 );Bone cement group ( C group) (468. 36 ± 82. 99 ); Bone cement group contrast agent ( D group ) ( 515.61 ±64. 65 ) ], and it had significant difference ( P < 0. 05, P < 0. 01 ). The rigidity of natural repair group [ (676. 57 ±50. 92) N/mm] had significant difference with that of the other three groups[ A group( 884. 66±52. 29)N/mm;C group(1178.40 ± 170.45) N/mm;D group(928.60 ± 104.42) N/mm] ( P <0.05, P<0. 01 ). Conclusions Femoral head plastic operation was simple and it could release pain. And femoral head outline could be kept integrity. It would be a new operation which was used to treat young patients in Ficat Ⅱ～Ⅲ period to postpone or substitute total hip replacement.

Species identification of biological samples is widely used in such fields as forensic science and food industry. A variety of accurate and reliable methods have been developed in recent years. The current review shows common target genes and screening criteria suitable for species identification, and described various DNA-based molecular biology methods about species identification. Additionally, it discusses the future development of species identification combined with real-time PCR and sequencing technologies.

Objective To identify the genotypes of ESBLs-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates from the First Affiliated Hospital,Shantou University Medical College.Methods The MICs of 10 antibiotics were determined by agar-dilution against the clinical isolates of ESBLs-producing K.pneumoniae.PCR were performed with specific primers for blaTEM,blaSHV, blaCTX-M and blaOXA respectively.PCR products were cloned and sequenced.Results The results of PCR showed that a- mong the 83 strains of ESBLs-producing K.pneumoniae,75 were positive for blaTEM,41 positive for blaSHV,25 poitive for blaCTX-M,9 positive for hlaOXA.Three genotypes were found in 13 strains(15.7%),2 genotypes in 59 strains (71.1%) and single genotype in only 11 strains(13.2%).The genes of CTX-M-3,TEM-1 and SHV were found co-existent in 9 strains. The strains carrying 2 or 3 ESBL genes were more resistant to antibiotics than those carrying only 1 ESBL gene.Conclusions The genotypes of ESBLs-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae in this hospital are blaTEM,blaSHV,blaCTX-M and blaOXA. Most strains carry 2 or 3 ESBL genes.

Objectives To study the level and development of serum specific antibody against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus(SARS-CoV)of different populations in SARS pestilence district after SARS outbreak in a general hospital.Discuss SARS sub-clinical infection and protective action of the IgG antibody.Methods Seroepidemiology method,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)and indirect immunfluorescence assay(IFA)were employed to investigate the changing level of serum antibody to SARS-associated coronavirus in non-SARS population in SARS pestilence district during and after SARS outbreak.The development of IgM and IgG antibody in patients with SARS in 6 weeks after the onset of SARS was studied qualitatively.The level changing of IgG antibody in con- valescent patients with SARS in 82 weeks after the onset was observed dynamically.Results The ELISA test outcome of IgG antibody was negative in 200 non-SARS people who were random samples of normal mass in SARS pestilence district and common community.The positive rate was 0.41% in 487 SARS high risk population tested by ELISA,but showed negative when retested by IFA.The A value level of IgG antibody existed significant difference in non SARS mass during and after SARS outbreak and the later's was higher them the former's(P

Objective To explore the effect of septoplasty or in combination with outfracture of the inferior turbinate in patients with nasal septum deviation on the airflow field and the nasal airway structure.Methods Six patients with nasal septum deviation underwent spiral CT imaging scans before surgery and during the follow-up.The 3D finite element meshes of the nasal airway were developed from the above CT scans.Given three preconditions,the nasal airflow fields were described by the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations at the inspiratory flow rate of 12 L/ min. The whole airflow patterns were obtained and then compared with the airflow filed and airway structure changes before and after surgery.SPSS 12.0 software was used to analyze the data.Results Before surgery,area of the common airway and the middle and ventral medial regions in the concave side were (1.61 ± 0.18),(0.40 ± 0.10),(0.40 ± 0.14) cm2 respectively,and those of convex side were (1.30 ±0.18),(0.33 ±0.05),(0.36 ±0.10) cm2 respectively.The differences between both sides were of no statistical significance (Z value was 1.782,1.363,0.526 respectively,all P ＞ 0.05).Airflow of the above airways were (361 ± 68),(131 ± 25),(100 ±28) ml respectively in concave side and (178 ± 33),(59 ± 26),(59 ± 18) ml respectively in convex side, which differences were significant statistically (Z value were 2.207,2.201,2.201respectively,all P ＜ 0.05＝.The inferior turbinate in concave side [(0.93 ± 0.10) cm] was statistically (Z=2.214,P＜0.05＝ bigger than that in convex side[(0.58 ±0.12)cm] before surgery.The airflow fields were in disorder in both ill-airways.After surgery,area of the common airway was (2.55 ±0.44) cm2in concave side and (2.20 ± 0.72)cm2 in convex side respectively,and area of the middle and ventral medial regions in the convex side were (0.58 ± 0.13),(0.81 ± 0.26)em2 respectively,which differences were of significance statistically when comparing to areas before surgery (Z value were 2.201,2.201,2.201,2.201,P ＜0.05＝.The airflow passed through nasal airway orderly in both sides.But the thickness of inferior turbinate was (0.73 ±0.08)cm in concave side after surgery,which difference was significant statistically in comparison to that before surgery (Z = 2.264,P ＜ 0.05＝.Consequently,nasal resistance decreased from (0.41 ± 0.03) k Pa · L- 1 · s - 1 to (0.16 ± 0.01) kPa · L -1 · s - 1 after surgery,the difience was significantly(Z = -2.207,P = 0.027).Conclusion Septoplasty or in combination with outfracture of the inferior turbinate,followed by the self-adaptation consecutively,could improve the airway and breathing capacity of the nose.

Depression and insomnia are intimately related. Depressed patients usually manifest sleep discontinuity and early awakening, reduced or no slow wave sleep (SWS) and shortened latency of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. These sleep abnormalities are very similar to those caused by over activated hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis with stress. Therefore, the animal models developed by post-traumatic stress disorder or chronic unpredictable mild stress could be used to evaluate drugs which have effects of both anti-depression and improvement of sleep quality, and to provide a more reliable platform for further studis on the mechanisms of depression and accompanied insomnia. This review mainly focuses on the typical features of sleep disturbance of depression, possible pathophysiological mechanisms, establishment of animal stress models and analysis of their abnormal sleep characteristics.
